A huge Merry Christmas and thank you to all our lovely dogs and their brilliant owners and everyone who has supported us along the way! Definitely couldn't do it without you 🥰

This year has seen some big changes including a house move and the creation of our doggy paradise, it has all been very exciting and stressful. We are so very thankful for everyone's patience during this time.

I hope Santa Paws is good to you all 🎄here's to another exciting year ahead, cheers! 🥂

Yesterday beautiful Ella had a devastating accident whilst out walking with her family in which she tragically lost her life. We are absolutely heartbroken for her and her family, she will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Ella was a much loved part of our Thursday gang along with her sister Daisy, she brought a lot of fun and mischief to the group. She spent much of her time trying to befriend the cows, enjoying a good game of chase and being beaten up by Daisy.

Ella always greeted me with a big smile and a waggy tail when I'd pick them up for their walk. She was such a loving dog and would happily smother me with kisses. Our hearts go out to her family 💔

⭐️New Chapters, New Name⭐️

I started my dog walking journey in 2019 under the guidance of George, who trusted me to carry the Geopaw name and uphold the great reputation that came with it. George has been a great source of support, all his help and advice has been invaluable especially through some of the toughest times.

In my next chapter however I will sadly be parting ways with George and Geopaw Premium. This has been a very difficult decision as I have very much enjoyed being part of Geopaw. I will no longer be affiliated with Geopaw from today (Monday 16th), however I will still be providing the very best of dog care services as before just under a new name.

George has been a good friend of mine for many years, even before I joined Geopaw, and this will continue to be the case. I want to thank him for everything and wish him all the best with Geopaw Premium 🐾

Puppy Enculturation

January 2023! Registration now open.
What you will learn with us is techniques in teaching basic life skills: all sessions are held in the environment to help you get the best social skills!
The intake age for class is 14 weeks to 25 weeks old at the date of start. This keeps learning in line with your young dog’s development period.

Sessions are held in various environments.
Week 1. The Training Centre & a Street Walk. Get the best out of Focus & Engagement & start crushing your leash skills.

Week 2. A Street Walk & Café Visit. Get more practice when out and about, working on manners around the public & then a Café visit for a coffee and getting to grips with settling your puppy in that environment.

Week 3. Beecraigs Country Park. Learning the difference between a more structured walk and a countryside walk. Starting to work on recall and you learning how to compete with the environment.

Week 4. Beecraigs Country Park. Bringing up your skills and then a visit to the Deer Centre to expose your puppies to the Wildlife & Livestock. Learn how to navigate and prevent trouble in this area.

This class is on a Saturday and will start on 7th January 2023 @ 10.30am. Each session last 1 & ½ hours.
Class Contains 4 students.
The cost of the course is £150.00 and the training lasts for 4 weeks.

You can take advantage of “Puppy Enculturation” & “Puppy Class” if purchased together and receive a 10% discount on the total.

Cracking pups needing a family of their own 💙 they are Dingus's nieces and nephews and half siblings to Silo. Raised on the farm but in a family home so lovely, happy, confident pups that will make great agility or active family dogs. After looking after them last week I'd happily take them all home 🥰

Last Friday I received the heartbreaking news that Clover fell asleep for the final time after a sudden illness.
I started Pop-Ins with Clover (Sprocker) and her brother Brodie (Cairn Terrier) at the beginning of August and although I’ve not known Clover for that long, she instantly won me over, just the sweetest girl. I put together this video of our time together 💙

I’ll miss her so much and send my love and thoughts to Clover's guardians at such a difficult time. 💕

Blooms of suspected blue-green algae (cyanobacteria) have been noted at:

🔵Beveridge Park, Kirkcaldy
🔵Clatto Reservoir, Cupar
🔵Lochore Meadows, Lochore
🔵Loch Gelly.

Blue-green algae pose risks to public and animal health when they form blooms and scums in freshwater in warm summer months.

In people, exposure to the blue-green algae toxins may cause skin rashes and more severe symptoms if swallowed.

Dogs are also at risk if they drink the water, or lick their coats after swimming; exposure may be fatal or lead to severe symptoms requiring very rapid vet treatment.

Please keep yourselves and your dogs away from affected water bodies.

Does wearing trainers make me run? No.

If I choose to run trainers support my feet and protect me from injury. But they're not the reason I run. If I run it's because of how running makes me feel.

Does wearing a harness make my dog pull? No.

If my dog chooses to pull a harness protects his neck from injury*. But it's not the reason he pulls. If he pulls it's because of what pulling achieves...normally that it gets him to where he wants to go more quickly.

Consequences drive behaviour. Not equipment. Harnesses don't make a dog pull any more than my trainers make me run. But they do make it safer.

"I think it’s really important to ask celebrities and companies not to share cropped dogs on social media because that’s where normalisation has started and that’s where it continues to go on"

There’s been a worrying increase in the number of dogs with cropped ears appearing on social media which can dangerously normalise and glamorise this 'fashion' trend. This has led to some people in the UK carrying out these illegal and unnecessary procedures in order to make more money.

WHAT IS EAR CROPPING?

This process involves removing part of the external flaps of the ears to make them look more upright, this is purely done for a certain look people want these dogs to have.

Ear cropping is illegal in the UK and most of Europe and dogs here are often cropped without pain relief while they are just puppies.

WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT?

Ear cropping along with any surgical procedures carried out for aesthetic purposes is illegal through the animal welfare act. Any concerns should be reported to the SPCA’s confidential helpline by calling: 03000 999 999

Since we had a lovely boarder staying this weekend we decided to take a wee trip up to tenstmuir for a change with some of the Danes and their owner. The dogs all had a blast and we had the whole beach to ourselves in the fog before the warmer weather drew everybody to the beach!

Beautiful day checking out Fife Secure Dog Park with Ruki, Silo and Sirius and his mum. Dogs had a blast checking out all the different obstacles and smells and chasing each other through the tyres 🤣 nice way to end another fab day of adventures
