She is a smart and SWEET female Cattle dog to everyone. She rides good in car and plays well with other dogs. She is 42lbs and likely around 2-3 yrs old. She has had puppies in the past. Update: We have found an intrepid volunteer who is on her way to pick up the Klamath heeler. It's rain and mixed snow, so please hold good safe thoughts for them. They will be near Mt Shasta this evening then down to Redding to meet with foster mom. Fingers crossed it all goes well. Big huge thank yous to Mary ❤️
🚙🚐🚛 Update: Looks like we have enough options for foster/adopt that she can be pulled and not be homeless. Now the really hard part of getting her out of Klamath Falls! This little girl needs a ride and likely an overnight foster along the way... Local airfields are closed so Pilots n Paws is put until we can get her close to an open one; probably Medford! Any ideas? Any travelers in that area?
‼️🚨🆘 Help! Running out of time this week! This little girl was stray and ended up at the shelter in Klamath Falls, OR. It's a little shelter and quite out of the way of traffic just a bit north of CA. Time is running out and she needs a rescue, home or foster immediately. She's about 33 lbs, a couple years old, gets along fine with her kennel mates but she's not doing well stuck in a kennel day in and day out. Is anyone looking? I've tried almost every rescue I know of - no one has room. I have no where I could put her - fosters or interrim board. But I sure think she would make someone a great companion if she has a chance! Adorable shorty low rider Cattle Dog mix puppy “DEWEY” was confiscated from his owner with 3 other dogs and after a month at the shelter, he’s the only one left and in trouble—AND out of time!!
Dewey had been there OVER A MONTH and the shelter has placed them at the TOP OF THE EUTHANASIA LIST.

Fido #232379 is a 6 m.o./43 lbs Heeler found as a stray and turned into the shelter by a well intentioned lady who was unaware of the shelter’s reputation. She’s now working to help get him out.
Fido’s finder writes “I kept him as long as I could I tried to find him a home and no luck. He is such a sweet boy…I did not know they got so little time! Someone please save him. He is potty trained, did well with my kids and other dogs but not so much my cats. He’s been crying since I dropped him off.” 😢

This especially important for all West Coast folks, not just one county. For those with pets and/livestock, it's time again to make sure you're ready for fire emergency and evacuation possibilities. Starting with a crate and leash and collar, (and back up just in case), microchip info (make sure chip info is registered and up to date!), shot records and other important records, good pictures at least 3 views, printed copies in a gallon zip lock bag in the family evacuaction gear, have info stored in the cloud, drop box, somewherr safe from disaster, also. No microchip? Get one asap, without delay. The better prepared to grab what you need the better everything goes during emergencies. Many pack a emergency bag for pets - enough food for 3-6 days, water, bowls, medicines, a small towel, pet cleaning wipes, leash & collar and printed shot records (must have tabies verification for public evacuation shelters). Feel free to share your tips here.

Oso was picked up by an animal control officer on June 4 because his owner didn’t have a home. He was scared but didn’t exhibit any bad behavior but he didn’t like his medical intake.
He was placed in the back kennels which is noisy and terrifying for dogs. Unfortunately there are not enough volunteers who can work with the dogs in back on a regular basis and his behavior further deteriorated making it difficult for staff to feed and clean and he was alerted. 😔
He was in playgroup today and he stayed in the yard for 2 hours with over 20 large dogs! He began to seek affection and volunteers got great video of him! He knows sit (but needs to be told to take treats gently) and he loves playing with the tennis ball 🎾
