The Oroville Women of the Moose are having their annual fundraiser for the NW SPCA. Next Friday, February 28th from 5 - 7 pm.

🎟️Tickets will be available in the Social Quarters for $15.

We also have a donation barrel in the Social Quarters if you would like to donate blankets, towels, puppy/ dog/kitten/cat food (Science Diet only) toys, or any pet supplies..
All proceeds will be going to the SPCA.
This function will be open to the public.

NATIONAL LOVE YOUR PET DAY

On February 20th, pet lovers everywhere observe National Love Your Pet Day. This holiday focuses on giving extra attention to our pets. The day encourages pampering our pets and focusing on the special relationship pets hold in our lives.



Give your pet extra lovies today... if you don't have a pet, come on down and meet your new best friend! If you are not able to have a pet at this time, come down to visit the shelter pets and give them some love and/or donate to their care. With gratitude for all of the agencies involved in this mornings rescue:
Oroville Police Department ,
CAL FIRE Swift Water Rescue, and
Northwest SPCA Animal Control.

Two young huskies (who we are now calling "River" and "Rain") found themselves in quite a predicament after escaping their yard last night in the storm and frolicking around the neighborhood trying to rouse other dogs in play while evading their owners, friends, and Animal Control Officers.

This morning, a citizen walking along the river trail heard howling and when she looked up, she saw the pups stranded in the middle of the river on a submerged island. The rising water had everyone concerned. She immediately called for help.

OPD called out the Northwest SPCA Animal Control to assess the situation and had the CalFire Swift Water Rescue Team on stand-by. Once we saw the pups and the situation they were in, the water rescue team was dispatched. Equipped with slip leashes and kind hearts, they skillfully retrieved the willing and happy canines as our officers remained onshore to secure the pups upon their safe landing.

We were able to touch base with the dogs caretaker who has been watching the dogs since their owner left town over a month ago... and he can no longer care for the dogs. He relinquished both River and Rain to the care of the Northwest SPCA. We will be holding the dogs, a male and a female about 8 months old, for the standard hold time in the event that the original owner comes in to claim them. If not, they will be quickly evaluated for adoption. THEY ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION OR VISITATION. (see comments for a few photos)

Keep an eye on the adoptable dog section of our website if you have any interest in adopting a pup... these two or any of the 40 or so currently available canines at the shelter.
