Pet birds instinctively know what foods are best suited to their nutritional needs, and their beaks have evolved to forage for specific foods successfully. For example, smaller birds such as budgies, cockatiels and canaries have smaller beaks ideally suited to cracking seeds and delicately picking grain from grasses. Larger parrots and macaws have more powerful beaks strong enough to rip through thick fruit husks and crack nutshells.
All pet birds need a varied diet that can provide adequate nutrition, including all the minerals and nutrients birds need to be strong and healthy. To meet this need, birds will instinctively nibble at many different foods, trying textures, tastes and shapes to find what they like and to consume a wider variety of foods. Offering birds pelleted food
that mimics the natural sizes, textures and tastes of their preferred foods can satisfy their nutritional needs while engaging their instinctive foraging behaviors. This is especially true if treats are tucked into foraging toys or offered in such a way that the birds have to work harder for their favorite tidbits.

Prairie Dogs
Prairie dogs (typically black-tailed prairie dogs) are becoming popular as pets. Like all rodents, they have teeth that continually grow throughout life. They are active, playful, and sturdy rodents and can make fairly affectionate pets if purchased young, socialized properly, and given lots of attention.
Prairie dogs are very affectionate creatures, it doesn't take long for a baby Prairie dog to bond to you and desire to be with you at all times. Prairie dogs require companionship, they need to be with either another Prairie dog or require much attention from you as its owner. Pet Prairie dogs are very clean animals.

🦜How Many Bird Toys Should a Bird Have? Don't clutter the cage with bird toys. Most birds really only need two to three bird toys at a time to keep them busy. However, playing with the same toys over an extended period of time can become very boring for them.

Copper and chrome bells, lead clappers, rusty metal chains and toys can be the cause of metal toxicity in pet birds. Stainless steel is the preferred metal used in the manufacture of “bird safe” toys.

🐢 The African spurred tortoise, also called the sulcata tortoise, is a species of tortoise inhabiting the southern edge of the Sahara desert in Africa.
🐢 Keep fruits limited to occasional treats. Grasses and grass hay are the best diet for the tortoises. While housed indoors it is good to soak them in a shallow water bath to their chin for 15-30 minutes once a week. Dust the greens with a calcium (without vitamin D3) powder a twice a week.
🐢 Sulcata tortoises are big, slow, and tough survivalists. Adults average 18 inches in shell length and 70 to 100 pounds in weight, but specimens reaching two to three feet in length and upwards of 150 pounds aren't uncommon. Sulcatas dig burrows in the ground where they take shelter from their harsh, hot, arid habitat.
🐢 Sulcata tortoises in captivity can live an upwards of 70 years. Feeding: Sulcata tortoises are veracious eaters, and are constantly grazing. A majority of their diet should be fresh grasses and hay; treats can include: mulberry leaves, hibiscus flowers and leaves, and grape leaves.

🌀All five species of prairie dog belong to the Scuiridae (squirrel) family. Their other biological relatives include groundhogs, chipmunks, marmots and woodchucks.
2. They live in tight-knit family groups called coteries
🌀The average coterie tends to have one or two breeding males, several breeding females, and the females’ new pups. Males tend to jump from coterie to coterie—but the females stick together for life.
3. Their entire mating season is just an hour long
In contrast with popular perceptions of prairie dogs as fast-multiplying rodents, these animals actually mate just once a year, in early winter.
4. Prairie dogs play a vital role in maintaining the prairie ecosystem. Their churning activities aerate the soil allowing more water penetration, and their nitrogen-rich dung is a natural fertiliser which improves soil quality and vegetation.
