URGENT: RESCUES OR ADOPTERS NEEDED!!! No current deadline but we are critically over capacity. A deadline will be issued if no placement is found quickly. These five dogs need homes WITHOUT OTHER ANIMALS. They are friendly with people and are just looking for a second chance. They all appear to be some level of housetrained. There stress levels have increased to a point where it is just not fair to these pups anymore to be here, we have tried to hold on as long as possible but the reality is that they cannot be in a kennel environment any longer for their own health and sanity. Alexa had previously proven fine to be around dogs but we believe due to kennel stress she has deteriorated in her ability to handle dog to dog interactions at this time.

Mocha -- 8 months old female Pit mix, surrendered due to moving. $150 adoption fee due to recent arrival

Hero -- 3-5 years old male American Bully mix, found as a stray and never reclaimed. $75 due to length of stay.

Alexa -- 4 years old female German Shepherd, owner surrendered due to "no time". $75 due to length of stay.

Solo -- 1-2 years old male Min Pin mix, found as a stray and not reclaimed. FREE due to length of stay.

Forge -- 6 years old(?) male Pit mix, found as a severely neglected stray that was not reclaimed. FREE due to length of stay!

Our girl Lillie Pad is still here!!! Why?! She is a young kitty at just 8 months old, and has warmed up a TON over the past few months. She arrived back on August 8th, so her adoption fee is just $50 due to her length of stay. She does great with the other cats, would likely be fine with respectful dogs, and uses the litterbox here at the shelter reliably. She will be great for someone who will take the time to get to know her (and provide lots of toys and treats). Lillie Pad is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and FELV/FIV negative. Please stop by the shelter to meet this sweet girl and adopt!

🐾Meet the one and only floppy-eared heart breaker,C**t🐾
This handsome goofball is looking for his forever home-someone who can handle all the tail wags, zoomies, and dramatic head tilts. He's the kind of dog that will make you laugh until you cry... and then cry because you can't believe he isn't adopted yet. Think of him like a Keurig ☕ he takes a few moments to warm up but once he does, he's ready to serve up all the love ♥. C**t does however love to be the center of attention which means he would do best in a home without young kids, if you have dogs in your household, we require a meet and greet prior to adoption.
If you're ready to be loved unconditionally, come meet this sweet boy, because honestly how can you say no to that face? C**t is current on all annual vaccines, he is heartworm negative, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $150

Meet Zora! Zora is a beautiful little Bully girl at just around 35 lbs we are guessing around 3-5 years old who came to us as a stray and was never reclaimed. Zora has clearly lived a rough life prior to arriving to us, and we are trying our very hardest to find her a wonderful forever home that will enjoy her and her playful, cuddly self. Zora arrived to us with skin infections, ear infections, and dog bite wounds all over.. she was thin, with a choke chain wrapped around her whole body and had a severely infected c-section incision -- that frankly did not appear to be done by a veterinarian. She had evidence of prior c-sections as well when we spayed her. We also discovered, unfortunately, that Zora has a Grade 3 heart murmur. She is heartworm negative, so we think that it is unfortunately likely a congenital issue. Many dogs live long, happy lives with a heart murmur. Of course she would benefit from an echocardiogram to really see what is going on, but she has no symptoms of heart issues and seems to do just fine so she would be ok to leave with her forever home if they know she has a pre-existing condition that likely isn't going to be "fixable", could be progressive (since we aren't sure what the exact cause is), but isn't a death sentence! She has unfortunately lost prior potential adopters interest due to her heart murmur. 💔

Zora deserves better. She deserves a new, fresh start with a human bestie that will make sure she never has to go through being discarded ever again. She is great with people of all ages, and has done well with dogs here but would require a meet and greet to see if she gets along with any existing dogs in a potential new home. Please stop by the shelter during our open business hours to meet Zora, or call or email with questions: 630-553-9256 or [email protected]. First two photos below are Zora after her "glow up", the last two are of her when she arrived to us.

For the cats of KCAC, Friday night is a perfect night to stay in and relax. The energy around here is about as chill as it gets (yawns and snuggles all around!). If you are looking for someone to spend your Friday nights in with, come take a look at our adoptable cats. We know you will find the one for you!

Meet Gracie and Murphy! This dynamic duo have found themselves looking for a new home of their own. They are Border Collie crosses, and Gracie (see left) is Murphy's (see right) daughter! They are medium sized pups who love a good adventure (they even like to swim!), and would enjoy a home where they can enjoy the great outdoors while being safely contained. Both are dog friendly, and housetrained. Gracie is 3.5 years old and Murphy is approaching 5 years old. Their adoption fees are $150 each and they are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. It is our preference (and theirs) that they remain together as they are strongly bonded. Please call 630-553-9256 or email [email protected], or stop by during our open business hours to meet and possibly adopt!
