Black Cat Appreciation Day on August 17 aims to dispel all myths surrounding black cats. Superstitions aside, cats are simply adorable, even black ones.

Black cats are not taboo. Sure, these feline creatures in their sleek, black coats may carry an air of mystery, but most cats do. Like all cats, black cats have the ability to find mischief. Just like tabbys, cinnamons, gingers, calicos, whites, and greys, the black cat is cuddly, fun, and sweet.

It’s gonna be warm today. I’m going to start walks earlier to avoid the hottest part of the day. Everyone except Bryn (will play by ear how long he’s out for) and Luna (garden time unless it cools) will be at least 30 mins earlier than usual.

Busy busy Thursday! Luckily I have Will helping today. Biccie, Bruce, Aria, Pepper, Rosie, Pippin, Fudge and Bryn. I’ve clocked up 8.6 miles of dog walking!

Wow! That was a busy week! We’ve done 17 pop in visits, 3 meet and greets, 2 live ins and we’ve clocked up 19.2 miles in dog walks! Thank you Will, couldn’t have managed without you over the weekend.

The animals decided to do selfies today (nothing to do with me- all their idea!). Some of the results are hilarious!
* the guinea pigs struggled with their little hands so asked for help!
* the fish declined the challenge!
* P, L and J did “self feet” instead.

We’ve had a blast today!

You know you must be doing something right when your clients book again. This week I have all of these guys who are on their 2nd and even 3rd pop in/live in booking. It’s so lovely to see them all again.

Fiyero is - The Floof, Floofy Pants, Sir Floofington, Fifi
Marley is - Moo, Moo Paws, Sir Mooington, MarlingtonMooington. And there are many more where they came from!

Will is my son. He’s 19 (almost 20) and home from uni for the summer. He will be helping me out over the busy summer.
Will studies Ancient History and History at Swansea University and will be in his final year come September.
Will worked alongside me while he was home at Easter and is looking forward to having his own group of pets to look after in the next few weeks.
Will loves cats and is obsessed with beagles!

Hi everyone. As we go into our crazy busy summertime (somebody tell the weather!) I thought I’d introduce myself for those of you that don’t know me!
My name is Ruth and I’m 50 years young! When I was still at school my first job was at a local kennels and cattery which I worked at for many years. I’ve done all sorts of things since - childcare, education, healthcare, hospitality to name a few but I’ve come full circle back to my first love, animals !
During my last full time job in hospitality I started doing a little pet sitting along side using various pet care apps and found I absolutely loved it. At the beginning of 2024 I took the plunge, studied for a pet care qualification, handed in my notice and Furry Pop- Ins was born. I can’t believe how popular it became so quickly. Now I get to hang out with my new best friends every single day!
Furry Pop-Ins offers all kinds of visits- a short pop in visit for dogs and cats to feed, change litter trays, provide toilet breaks, a run around, a play or a longer visit or walk. Every pet’s needs are different. Some dogs require a quick 30 mins around the block whereas some like to walk up to 2 hours. We discuss everything at your free meet and greet and build a plan around them whether it’s pop in visits or a live in while you are away.
Every single day is different. There are many regular pets who I see every week. I love getting to know them and seeing how excited they are when they know it’s time for walkies or lunch! Then there’s the live ins - you build such a special relationship with the pets you live with and it’s always so sad to say goodbye when the owners return from holiday but we usually get to see everyone again.

A perfect week sitting for Troy again. He is such a lovely boy. Thank you to @will.j_brown for all your help this week.

We do our very best at Furry Pop-Ins to keep our dogs cool in the hot weather. We may move walks to earlier in the day before it gets too warm or for live in dogs, we walk them in the evening once it’s cooler. Walks may be cut short if a dog is getting too hot and we will make sure they are nice and cool again at home before leaving them. Many of our dogs are lucky enough to live close to shaded woodland areas which is perfect for days like today. Here are today’s dogs: Bruce (he rolls like that to play for time as he doesn’t want his walk to end!!) Troy, Aria (drinks on the go) and Rosie
