An upcoming Hmong Bobtail breeder in PA, dedicated to health testing & ethically preserving the breed
I brought Stoic over to my grandparents and great aunt’s house again! He and his “sister” Dragon always make my family laugh. He’s so kind and gentle with them, today he laid down with my grandpa and great aunt, not wanting to leave when it was time to come back home. My family spoiled the dogs by giving them new toys and an entire bag of freeze dried salmon and shrimp. I’m always so impressed by his lovely temperament and gentle countenance.
Stoic is soaking up the PA sun! After a month full of traveling, I’m home and having the best time with my dogs! Stoic enjoys the hose during hot weather, if I spray him down, he feels so much better. He surprisingly doesn’t mind being sprayed.
We have a sporty June incoming, we are both hyped!!🤎
I am back from Hawaii Pet Expo and happy to be home with my dogs. Stoic did amazing while I was gone, he continued to sleep and protect the home. He also had some bonding time with my boyfriend! These are some photos right before the trip, I hiked a lot and made sure he was nice and worn out!

I believe it’s very important to socialize your dog to handling by other people, especially if they participate in sports like FCAT which requires a releaser. I don’t expect Stoic to befriend a stranger right away, but should stay neutral or friendly with a proper introduction.
(Disclaimer, I do understand some dogs can’t be handled by strangers, especially dogs like my girl Dragon!)
Stoic around the house again! He tries to cuddle and ask for affection a lot now, he’s the best boy to live with 🤍 He’s so loving yet independent and willing to match the energy of the household, he’s not the type of dog to be attached to your skin and that’s exactly what I like! A good mix of the two!
So sorry for the recent absence!! I have so many exciting events coming up and I’ve been preparing. Including a trip to Westminster dog show, I’m so nervous and excited!
Stoic has been loving life in the warm weather, the forest and mountains are his happy place. It’s so fitting to see him roam Appalachia, exploring new textures and environments with pure excitement and happiness! He loves to hike in groups too, Dragon (spayed female PQR) and Koro (intact male basenji) are the best forest friends!💕
Stoic had class last Tuesday and was absolutely wonderful. I am so proud of his focus and improvement. He is such a lovely dog to work with and everyone falls in love with him! After class, we went on a long walk around town and he had a bully stick back at home. A great day with a great dog!🤎
Stoic around the house. He’s such a joy to live with, I always enjoy his company.
We have been loving the past week of warm weather. Unfortunately it dropped to 25°F again! Enjoy some pictures from the fun days we had. We are staying warm inside and focusing on mental enrichment, trick training, and relaxation!
Days like this are another reason why I love this breed, I really appreciate the natural off-switch they have, especially when you need to stay inside!

Stoic had a busy week full of fun and socializing!
On Tuesday he had his first training class. He put his entire heart into the class and engaged wonderfully. Staying focused for an hour long training session isn’t an easy task, but he really made me proud! Then he went to my grandma’s house yesterday and saw my entire family! They were so happy to say hi and he enjoyed their company, then bounced around like a puppy in their backyard!
He’s such a do-anything kind of dog, he loves to come along and be included!💗
Stoic ran at his first FCAT yesterday and had so much fun!
He made me so incredibly proud, he waited for fun runs so patiently. All of the happy dogs were kicked into drive, barking and having a blast! Stoic stayed calm and neutral, politely waiting his turn. I was so proud of his behavior, especially because this is the first time he has been in a dog sports environment. Thank you so much to Ariel Mae McCray for releasing him!💕
Yesterday Stoic met a baby! Stoic is a very kind dog and when he played with Kiddo the Akita, he made sure to have fun without scaring or harming her!
I like to introduce my dogs to others by going on a relaxing walk in a neutral area. I do this multiple times, it builds and positive or neutral association with the new dog. We had 2-3 walks with Kiddo before their introduction, and allowed them to roam off-leash in a secure backyard. After gathering information about each other, Stoic bounced around in a play bow and the two took off!! Kiddo and stoic played chase, paws at each other, and then coexisted independently while sniffing around the yard. It was a beautiful interaction by two amazing spitz breeds.
I’m so proud of my big boy, his temperament is so lovely and I’m so excited to see what Kiddo and him accomplish together!

We were so excited to spend Stoic’s first Valentine’s Day with him yesterday, he loved the holiday. My mom (Stoic’s grandma) stopped over to gift him a sweater, toys, treats, and more! I’m so pleased with his temperament, he immediately recognized my mom and wiggled until he fell over! He’s so sweet and settled as soon as he greeted her, independently playing with his gifts!
Where did the warm weather go??
Winter storm Lorraine has brought us a few inches of freezing rain and snow overnight. It’s packed together and made trees fall everywhere, thousands of people are out of power, flooding is starting, etc. Stay safe here in the Northeast!!
Stoic and his “sister,” Dragon (the Phu Quoc Ridgeback) are loving the snowy weather, they really make the best out of a random crazy snow storm. It was just 60 degrees!!🤣

Dinner time for Stoic!
This dinner is:
- Grandma Mae’s Whitefish and Lamb kibble
- Raw beef and vegetable mix (instinct, fresh pet, etc.)
- beef liver/blood powder
- bone broth
- freeze-dried raw duck head
Spring is coming and that brings hiking, dog sports, and exercise in general. We are active, always adventuring the magical forests and mountains Appalachia has to offer. Stoic will be participating in his soonest sport early March, which means his pre-conditioning meals start! He also gets a bigger amount during this time, it aids in muscle growth. We are so excited for warm weather!!
Yesterday we had a fun day outside. I cannot stress enough how important proper socialization, training, and a dog from a good breeder is. This dog impresses me every time I leave the house with him. I took him exercising, to our local pet store, and to my grandmas! I personally need a stable dog who will love my family too, and that’s Stoic! He patrolled my grandma’s backyard, protecting it from strangers/prey, and being a total love butt to the family. He watched as a teen stood behind my grandma’s fenced in back yard playing frisbee with himself, Stoic didn’t take his eye off of him until he left.
I’m so glad this sweet boy will not only protect me, but my family as well. Such a great, stable guardian🤍
Stoic is ready for a day of fun, Pennsylvania is around 60 degrees today, much better than our recent 20 degree weather! Can’t wait to share our adventures 🤎
An early introduction to Wandering Wyvern Kennel!🐲
For a few years this kennel will be home to only one Hmong Bobtail, our foundation male. He is one of four Hmong Bobtails, imported from Hanoi by me and other passionate members at the HBCA, that will be kicking off the foundations for this breed in the USA. Stoic and I will work as a team together, earning titles, doing further research while health testing, training, maturing, and simply exploring life with this magnificent breed.

“Stoic”
Stoic is currently only a teen at 1.2 years old, living out his best life in south-central Pennsylvania. He’s an incredibly intelligent and stable dog, his potential heightens as he grows. I LOVE his temperament and willingness to work with me as a devoted protector and companion. He is such a neutral dog who confidently interacts with the environment. He is the first Hmong Bobtail to earn a title in the USA, earning his Novice trick dog title a month after being imported from Hanoi! He’s currently only a few tricks away from intermediate! He loves to train with me and have a fun time. We are now starting scent work foundations. Our journey has just begun!
Why did I choose this kennel name:
To wander the forests and mountains of Appalachia, is my dog’s favorite activity. Luckily for me, it’s also mine as well. These forests are my home, and as someone who revolves her life around dragons, I see my dogs as little wyverns wandering throughout Appalachia!
In conclusion,
I have many goals brewing for the future, but for now as we grow, we are taking it one step at a time. I’m so excited to take a deeper look into the health, longevity, and temperament of this breed. There’s a wonderful future ahead, and I’m so excited to share our journey with everyone!
