Our story...

Welcome to Equestrian Woodworks! We are Ellie and Scott. Our professional backgrounds are in the corporate world where sitting behind a desk, working on spreadsheets, managing projects and guiding executives lacked the meaning and satisfaction we both desired from our work.

Our journey to form Equestrian Woodworks started with a most exceptional Christmas gift. Scott had the idea to make Ellie a saddle stand as she was using a basic metal rack to hold her two treasured saddles. Christmas was coming and he knew a handmade gift would be the kind of gift that Ellie would love the most. He designed a stand that was unique and reflected his creative style, he chose top quality hardwood and used old craftsman joinery to put it together. He secretly worked on it late at night and at any time he and Ellie were apart leading up to Christmas. Ellie’s amazement and delight on Christmas morning when she saw what he had created was the impetus of their passion for woodworking and a doorway into the possibilities of what they could create together.

Living in Southern California we have many extracurricular hobbies but the hands-on, craftsman aspect of woodworking was a pull that kept drawing us in. We found ourselves spending more and more time together in our workshop, building high quality furniture pieces that we dreamt up for our home.

We have two horses that we love very much and wanted a place to store their tack that reflected our high standards of quality and design. We searched far and wide looking for tack trunks/cabinets, saddle racks and brush totes but couldn't find anything that was up to our standards. We wanted unique and functional as well as durable and beautiful. We discovered that the only way we were going to find these items that would meet the standards of our vision was to make them ourselves. We wanted to create furniture that we would love to have in our own tack room and could be passed down for generations to loved ones and children in our equestrian families.
