Hope everyone had a good fourth!! The dogs got frozen stuffed kongs to keep them occupied during the loudest part of the night. Although my dogs largely don't care about fireworks, we still crate them and provide them with entertainment during the fourth. Everyone was happy and relaxed!

We had a great time last weekend doing a dock diving practice held by Puget Sound ASC. Corsen and Boss both have dock diving titles so this was old hat to them. Hvitserk has only been on a dock once but took to it right away. This was Bishops first time on the dock and he never thought twice. Hoping to get him more time on the dock this summer.

Raising good dogs that make exceptional family pets has always been my number one goal. You can have the most structurally correct, beautiful dog in the world, but if you can't live with that dog, then it all is a wash in my humble opinion.
Too often I hear stories of dogs who are anxious, who growl at people, even bite!!

Some of that is breeders failing to match dogs in the correct homes. Some of that is socializing, or lack there of, but a big part of that is also genetic.

I always strive to make sure those genetics work out well. And socialize the best I can while puppies are in my care.

This is weighing heavily on my mind today as I hear yet another story, of a dog that is kennel raised, retired, and given to a home where the dog has to be around strangers frequently and expected to be comfortable there. And isn't.

In stark contrast to that, today a woman and her young son came over to get some ducks from us. Sonny barked, quieted when he was told it was ok, stuck close to us as we walked to the coop, went over to calmly accept pets, then seeking out the kid, went and sat calmly and quietly next to him to receive attention.

To me, this is the perfect temperament for an Aussie. Willing to alert, willing to accept attention without over animation, and to not show shyness or discomfort in the situation. "He is reserved with strangers but does not exhibit shyness."

These are the temperaments I strive to bring to the fancy, in a day and age where it seems we hear more about the bad, than the good.

I had the immense pleasure of getting to catch up with sweet girl Fika and her owner Barbara Noah today! And good Lord Corsen, did Seven even contribute any DNA?! This girl is cute as a bug and just the best girl. She was a gem today for grooming!

Fika is from our Seven x Corsen litter.
Love seeing the babies all grown up and thriving!

We are gearing up for a fun dog show weekend in Olympia at Fidos Farm. If you've ever wanted to see an Aussie do everything, come on out! Conformation, obedience/rally and herding! Our local ASCA events would love to see you!
