What an excellent weekend! Edmonton Kennel Club puts on one heck of a show. We didn’t enter the Thursday show so our weekend started bright and early Friday morning. There was a ton of sun, spicy sky raisins (ask my ankle, it still hurts from the love nibble), laughs and memories made.

Friday: Louisa the Bernese Mountain Dog won Best of Breed for 2 points towards her GCh Bronze. Ice won the breed and made more friends and fans while in the group ring. Thank you to my right hand woman, Trynity, for taking him into group while I was on Louisa.

Saturday: Louisa Berner won Best Oppsite for two more points. Ice won the breed (1 point) while Keelut won Best puppy. And Howie the Brittany won Best of Breed, Best of Winners and Best Puppy for his first point!!

Sunday: Louisa strutted her stuff to win Best Opposite for a 2 points, finishing her GChB (Grand Champion Bronze) title!! Ice won the breed again for another point while Keelut won Puppy. Howie won the Breed again for another point. To top it off he also earned his first leg towards his Rally Novice title!

Congratulations to all the owners!!

Huge thank to Drumheller Equipment Sales & Rentals / Stettler Equipment Sales & Rentals for their continued support, WAG Collars for the most amazing show lead that I now refer to as my lucky leash, Peggy Mignon for opening up your benching area to a bunch of crazies, Adeline MacClealand for trusting me with your baby Louisa (I adore my Wheezy!!), Charlene Moch Darren Moch for sending Howie along and for his first on his RN leg and points! My supportive husband Burt Trithart for putting up with my crazy ideas and of course Akna Canadian Eskimo/Inuit Dog & Czechoslovakian Wolfdog Team for Ice and Keelut.

Now it’s time to crash for the night and plan our next adventure!

Transportation to Canada or the US available. This gorgeous girly sure reminds me of Keelut!

We are very proud to announce that Ice is now the first ever UK bred Canadian Eskimo Dog to earn his TT (Temperment Test) title. So very happy with this silly boy who decided that every pylon in the testing area was a play toy!! Thank you Akna Canadian Eskimo/Inuit Dog & Czechoslovakian Wolfdog Team for absolutely everything you have done for us! Thank you Calgary Associated Dog Fanciers for holding the test!

Head up to Safety City in Red Deer for some amazing collars (we love ours and definitely need more lol)!

What an amazing Mother’s Day weekend at CKOC! Saturday we started the day early with the all breed where Xerox (piloted by Keara) won the breed. I took him in for group but he definitely shows better for the “kids”. Ice was a rodeo clown but we know he is full of himself first few times in the ring lol. I. The Limited Specialty Keara and Xerox won the breed again as well as Best Veteran in Breed. These wins put him at 6th overall in the breed and he is still #1 Veteran. Sunday was Ice’s day to shine!! He won the breed over Xerox for his first point!!! Our Judge, Dr Liebes, definitely kept his eye on Ice, it was amazing to hear from others how nice of a boy he is!! Thank you to Keara for helping mom this weekend, my husband Burt for supporting my crazy Canadian addiction, Drumheller Equipment Sales & Rentals for their continued support, WAG Collars for their amazing collars and leads, Akna Canadian Eskimo/Inuit Dog & Czechoslovakian Wolfdog Team for their amazing breeding program and support and all of our fans! Show picture coming soon!

Not a lot going on this spring. We have started harness training with Ice and just enjoying our little patch of heaven.

RDDKC and the CEDCNWC regional specialty weekend.
Saturday started with Ice taking 2nd in his class of 4 (the 5th open male was absent) at the regional. Very proud of how he did. The club didn’t offer a baby puppy class as none of them had baby puppies, so Keelut did not get to compete unfortunately. Next Trynity went in with Xerox and won his veterans class. Our boy showed his heart out and won Best Veteran in Specialty Show!!! That makes him now BVISS GCh Arcticice Qimmiq Xerox CA NS Silver Bo**ie!
In the all breed Ice took 4/4 (again his teenage brain was not working and the 5th Open male was absent) and Miss Keelut won best baby puppy in breed with some very nice compliments. Xerox was not entered in the all breed.
Sunday there was 5 Open males in Ice’s class. He held it together for a 3rd. Our Judge had nothing but praise and let me know exactly what he would have liked to see. Keelut was Best Baby Puppy again. Then a LONG wait for Baby Puppy Group, while she didn’t win she did have her own very large cheering section, thank you everyone!
Ice was shown on his own special lead made by Dianna Jaynes and Keelut was shown on a special lead made by WAG Collars (thank you for such a wonderful gift! Love how the lead felt in our hands!).
As always our Canadians are powered by Inukshuk Dogfood. And a huge thank you to Drumheller Equipment Sales & Rentals for their continued support. Thank you to all our friends who not only were there cheering us on but the dozens of private messages we have both received.

BRCA day 2 (for us): the day dawned bright and early with a near moose miss but arrived to the show unscathed. First up was Ice who decided that today was a day to play it up lol good thing he is gorgeous. Our judge today commented that he doesn’t get to see the breed and asked to take his picture after awarding us breed. In the group ring we didn’t make the cut but I am please on how well this man has done for only being in the ring 4 times!
Next up was superstar Keelut. Tryn is going to have a blast with this spitfire. From judges to handlers to the general public, everyone has had nothing but positive things to say about our Canadians!

Battle River Canine Association day 1 (for us) unfortunately we were the only Canadians entered but that didn’t stop us from having a blast! This was only Ice’s third time in the ring and despite his wanting to melt every time he is touched we did great. Hearing all the positive compliments on him was amazing.
The real rockstar today was Keelut and Trynity. This was their first time ever in the ring together and they did amazing! That puppy just floats and you can see how she could go all day long. Having so many respected handlers, breeders and even judges comment on how striking she is ….. just wow. These two will have an amazing adventure together and I can’t wait to watch them shine!!

We would like to welcome AKNA Ice Man** to Canada. 🇨🇦 the genetics behind this boy are vital to the continuation of clean fresh lines that are needed here in our country. Watch for this stunning clown in the show rings and performance venues soon!

Copied from a breeder:

POTENTIAL OWNER: How much is the puppy?
BREEDER: $3,000
POTENTIAL OWNER: What?? It's way too expensive!!
BREEDER: What do you think would be a good price?
POTENTIAL OWNER: No more than $500. You breeders are so over priced.
BREEDER: I am sorry you see it this way, why don't you try it yourself?
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I've never done it!
BREEDER: For FREE I can teach you how to do it, and in addition you will have the knowledge to do it again.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Perfect, thank you!
BREEDER: To start you will need a female(average cost $3000 and up). Also a male(average cost $3000 and up) or semen (average $1000 and up). You will need to show them to their championship to show they meet the breed standard(Minimal $2000 with travel & fees). You will need to do genetic & health testing on them, averages about $750 per dog. Raise and provide daily care, feeding & grooming for 2 years. (So minimal $150 per month)
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have that much money...
BREEDER: For $500 you can raise a liter and then keep one of the puppies. Obviously, you will pay the cost of whelping & care.
POTENTIAL OWNER: I can do that.
BREEDER: OK so I have a female due to whelp in 2 weeks. You will need to be available 24/7 around the clock for at least 8 weeks to help with delivery and care.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Eight weeks?? it's way too much time for me! I have to work.
BREEDER: You will also need the reproductive vet to do xrays($200-$500), possibly progesterone testing($75-$250) & C-section($1000-$5000) and initial vet care on pups until old enough to be placed.
Have on hand a scale, thermometer, latex gloves, sanitizer, absorbent tissues, scissors, hemostats, heating pad, whelping box, blankets, cleaning supplies, appropriate food with supplements for mothers, formula, medications & hand feeding supplies in case of emergency....
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have all these things!
BREEDER: For $1000 you can buy them.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Ummm .... You know, I think it might be better if I just buy a puppy.
BREEDER: Wise decision.
For us breeders there are no vacations or holidays, while you go to visit with family & friends we are home at our dogs side caring for them. It is a no breaks commitment. There is no whelping them and then putting them aside to attend dog shows, if your dog gets sick you stay with them and take them to the vet immediately.
THIS IS THE REALITY
When you choose a professional you don't only pay for the puppy but also:
Tools, knowledge, experience, love, time, sacrifices, etc...
