Ema’s Biter-sweet Surprise 💔❤
Our one-eyed darling joined the colony at the end of May. At first, her visits were sporadic. We spayed her on 24 June. Skittish and skilled at avoiding both people and other cats, Ema made it clear she was here for the food—nothing more. But slowly, she began to trust us. Now she takes kibbles from our hands and, in a gesture that broke our hearts, brought her kittens to the feeding station.
Sadly, all four of them are one-eyed and timid like their mom.
It’s a mystery why the white kitten appears so much younger than the others. His eye infection is the most severe. He’s been seen by our vet, who treated his affected eye and prescribed antibiotics. The baby is too young for surgery, which must be performed under general anesthetic. In a few weeks, when he’s stronger, his blind eye will be removed. After that, he’ll need a quiet foster home to heal and prepare for adoption—a place where his resilience can be met with gentleness.
We didn't name the kittens and we'll be grateful for your suggestions—we prefer unisex names.
Ema’s story is one of quiet courage. She survived, she protected, and gave her kids a chance. We’ll do the rest, hopefully together with you!
Dear supporters, our food supplies are critically low. We’re down to the last few bags and canes. If you’ve ever considered helping, now’s the moment.
