Blackie and Waffle
Black and Yellow Males, 2.5 years, approx. 55 lbs.

Look at these handsome boys!! Blackie and Waffle are brothers who are 2-1/2 years old and about 55 pounds.

We absolutely adore them. We do think that Blackie and Waffle are likely very bonded and would love to place them together but we also will be working on taking them out separately to see how they will do.

We are not big fans of siblings staying together, as we are well aware of littermate syndrome. Blackie and Waffle do not exhibit any of those behaviors. They are very food friendly and have no jealousy issues or other common traits with that syndrome. These two brothers from the same mother live harmoniously.

They are very typical labs; they love water and love people and are dog and cat friendly. They have lived with children of all ages in their home.

Blackie and Waffle are really the perfect age for Labs, they’re past the puppy stage but are still very active and really would love to have a family that included them into their home and gave them the life that they deserve.

If you would like to know more about Blackie and Waffle, please fill out an adoption application at www.Labrescuefresno.org and ask to meet the boys!

Milo – Man’s Best Friend
Yellow Male Labrador, Age 1.5, 88 lbs.

Have you ever felt like you were always outside looking in while life passed you by? Just a tennis ball for company? If you have, you know what it is like for a dog watching life from a backyard. It makes you feel so lonesome and all you can do is dream of what it would be like if you had a best friend to do things with. My name is Milo, and until recently the backyard was my life. But through some luck, I find myself able to look for a new best friend. When I find them, there will be no more waiting, I will be the very best of friends in a way only dogs can do. Think of it - there will be walks galore, we can go on adventures, and at the end of the day we can enjoy the indoors together! We will each have a best friend! So, what are you waiting for? Why don’t we get together and have a wonderful life! I’m ready to go – you bring the leash, I’ll bring the fun, and together we will share the love!

My story. I was purchased as a young Labrador puppy by people who loved me but didn't expect their lives to change so much and ended up too busy for a young dog. Life, work and kids, so I spent many hours alone in the backyard, living for the moments we went for our walks, and jogging with Dad, but it just wasn't enough. But you know, that is no real life for a dog, and I was left with only dreams in my heart. They did the best thing when they contacted the amazing defenders of dogs known as the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. They took stock of my sweet nature and made me a promise to find me my very own best friend, one I could love for the rest of my days! And my tail hasn’t stopped wagging since!

Now I know I am a great big handsome hunk of a dog, but I am more than that! I am a ball of sweetness who has so much to share. I love to jog, hike, swim, and fetch! I am also house, and crate trained too. I have learned to sit, stay, drop, and my two least favorite, no and out. There are no other pets in the backyard with me so I will need proper introductions for pets, but small kids, a piece of cake! I know I need to be gentle around them. All I want though is for someone to love, to be loved by, by their side as best friends should be. So, what are you waiting for? Please, hurry, and adopt me. I can’t wait to meet you!

Milo is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. He is loving and good with people, even small kids – although with his size older children might be best. He hasn’t had the opportunity to interact very often with other animals but has a sweet nature with a tail that is always wagging. Like all young Labradors, training and regular exercise are essential to a happy home life. If you have room in your heart and home, you can’t go wrong with this Man’s Best Friend dog. If you would like to adopt handsome Milo, please fill out an application at our website: https://www.LabRescueFresno.Org

Basil – Black Male, about 9 weeks, 14.5 lbs.

Basil is a smaller boy who is quiet and in tune with people. He follows his foster mum around the kitchen and patiently waits for breakfast every morning. He loves wrestling with the resident kitty and his sister, but his personality is more laid back and mellow. Basil knows how to sit for treats and come when called. He has a very sweet personality and makes friends with everyone he meets. Basil's favorite hobbies are getting belly rubs and snuggling before bedtime.

All puppies will be up to date on their age appropriate vaccinations as well as being spayed, neutered and microchipped. Please remember that our goal is to find the best possible forever home for each and every dog so it is not a first come first serve situation. It is also important to add that a puppy can be a 15 year commitment and most Labs have puppyish qualities for up to and sometimes beyond 2 years. An active family willing to take the time, patients and commitment to work with a pup is important. Like all young Labs, training and regular exercise are essential to a happy, healthy pup.

If you would like to know more about Basil, please fill out an adoption application at www.labrescuefresno.org.

Herbie – Yellow Male Blend, 12 weeks, 17 lbs

Looking for a puppy love bug? Meet our Herbie! Herbie is calm and independent (for a puppy), cuddly, sweet and smart. He loves playing with the other dogs in his foster home, both big Lab boys. He loves people but has not yet been around small kids. Herbie adores chewy toys and balls! His foster home also includes a grumpy old man cat, he is respectful of him. We have not worked on leash skills; Herbie is not fully vaccinated and it’s not safe for him yet to go on walks.

Herbie is potty learning; he really prefers to do his business outside… well except when its 103 degrees out! He sleeps in his crate at night, we get up once at night for a potty break and there are no problems. Herbie adores tummy rubs and cuddles.

Herbie is microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and can’t wait to meet his forever family.

Herbie will need a family dedicated to keeping a puppy busy both physically and mentally and he would benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. If you would like to learn more about sweet Herbie the Love Bug, please submit an adoption application at www.labrescuefresno.org. If you already have an application in with us, simply reply to the volunteer who answered it initially and follow the instructions in red.

Ducey – Black Male, 9 months, 55 lbs.

Want to know what a perfect Labrador Retriever looks like?

Meet Ducey!!

Mr. Perfect is of course potty trained! He is also crate trained and does very well on walks! We don’t understand how these dogs end up in shelters but here we are wondering again what happened?

Cats are unknown but he’s not a jumper and we don’t suspect problems with kids; he’s very sweet.

Ducey’s foster can’t say enough good things about him and the resident dog thinks he’s pretty amazing too!

If you think yours is the home he’s been looking for, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.labrescuefresno.org and ask to meet Ducey!

Lolly – Chocolate Female, 4 months, 35 lbs. (on site soon)

Meet Pop’s sister Lolly!! This adorable little chocolate girl is about 4 months old and 35 pounds of silky fine sweet chocolate!!

Lolly is one of the most fun puppies around! She loves to play and loves to fetch and I often find her just lounging in the play pool with a tennis ball dunking it!

Lolly is confident, smart, playful, and oh-so cuddly! Lolly can sit for treats and loves to help bring laundry to the right spot!! She’s a big helper I’m telling you!! Such a fun puppy!

Lolly is potty trained, cats and kids are unknown but she’s got a great temperament and there are no concerns on the foster’s part.

Lolly, like all of our dogs, is altered, chipped and up to date on vaccines. If you think yours is her forever home, please fill out an adoption application and ask for Lolly!!

Pop – Chocolate Male, 4 months, 35 lbs. (on site soon)

You might ask yourself what kind of name is Pop?! Well, he came to us with a sister we named Lolly!! The foster wasn’t sure about the name at first but it’s been fun and it really fits him!!

Young Pop is about 4 months old and 35 pounds. We aren’t sure whether to call him chocolate or silver! But whatever color he is, it’s mesmerizing, just like his personality!

Pop is full of love and cuddles; he definitely likes to chase and play with his sister and the resident dogs but he’s about a 4 on the puppy scale! He loves water and it’s hard to keep him out of it! He’s not much of a fetcher yet but he loves his stuffed animals and sticks!

Pop is potty trained; cats are unknown and kids are unknown but he’s a well-balanced puppy who aims to please. He is not crate trained; he has full freedom in the house and has been a nearly perfect house guest. He does prefer to sleep with his foster or on the dog beds with the other dogs.

Pop, like all of our dogs, is neutered, chipped and up to date on vaccines. If you think your home is the one for Pop please fill out an adoption application at www.labrescuefresno.org and ask for Pop!

Archer – A Thief of Hearts
Black Male Doodle, Age 2 Years, 65lbs,

Hi there! I’m Archer and they tell me I’m a handsome guy who will steal your heart! Kind of like this Cupid guy except rather than make you fall in love with someone totally wrong for you, I make you fall in love with me! I think that is how I got my name – I’m an “archer” like Cupid but with a better aim! And you want to know what? I am available for adoption! Yes! Me! Should I aim my arrow your way? I promise my love is forever!

I must tell you I am a whole different dog than the one that came into Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. I didn’t know what kindness was, that there were good people out there who were as loving as me! Who knew humans could be so lovable? My previous life left me dumped in Oakhurst running stray. Does this handsome face look like it belongs in the wild? Luckily, I met my first kind person who took me in and introduced me to the Defenders of Dogs. I crawled on my belly for a bit, then, little by little I reached out for their kindness to the point that now I run when called! And now that my spirit is healed, I am ready to find my forever family!

So, about me. I am a big goof, like all of us Labrador types, and I just love my people and dogs of all shapes and sizes, playing with them and generally being a goofy, fun-loving boy! I am also learning about this thing called a leash and I really like how it keeps you by my side! I am crate and house-trained. I am learning basic commands and have learned to place my paw in your hand, one of the ways to send an “arrow” your way. I love hugs too - more metaphorical arrows wink, wink)! Oh, and I love fruit salad like watermelon and strawberries! Maybe I’m a summer pup? Foster mom says I am a sweet soul ready to love and be loved by a family. So, please, hurry, and adopt me – I have so much love to share.

Archer is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. He is loving and good with people and dogs of all sizes. He is crate and house-trained and has learned some basic commands. Like all young dogs, he will require regular exercise, and with his doodle origins, will require regular grooming. If you would like to adopt Archer the Thief of Hearts, please fill out an application at our website: https://www.LabRescueFresno.Org

Logan – Silver male, 6.5 years, 83 lbs

Hi, I’m Logan! And I am ready to be your loving and loyal best friend! My foster mom keeps telling me what a handsome, smart and affectionate dude I am. I LOVE my people and am social and friendly when meeting other folks. I want nothing more than to hang out and go on adventures with you. I absolutely love my walks - spending time outdoors, exploring new sights and smells. I’d also be a great hiking partner, and did you say water? I love to play in the water! I’ve had some training in my lifetime and my foster mom says I’m doing great with my refresher training and learning new commands. I’d really benefit from having my new family continue strengthening and reinforcing that training. I am a quick learner and have picked up on the rules and routine of my foster home easily. I am totally potty trained and will ring the bells on the door to go outside. I settle down when it is time for bed, and sleep next to my foster parents’ bed on my comfy pillow. I am all about my people and because I love them so much, I’d thrive being the only dog in my home.

My vet said I have some weight to lose but with proper exercise and diet it will be a snap! I am a Lab so I love my food and treats, but I don’t counter surf like my foster sister; this makes my foster mom really happy! Because of my size and energy level, I am best suited for a family with older kids. I, like many silver labs, suffer from seasonal skin allergies and will require medication to continue living my best life.

Logan came to Lab Rescue because of a promise made to a beloved friend who was very ill. Logan was very much loved by his owner. When she passed away, her dear friend saw to it that she kept her promise to her and to Logan, which was to find him a loving home. How could we say no.

This gorgeous fella would love to have a family to call his own and live the life he deserves. He is so sweet; all you want to do is give him lovin’ all day long. Is Logan the sweet, fun buddy you’ve been looking for? What are you waiting for? Fill out an adoption application and ask for Logan! www.labrescuefresno.org

Abby – Cream Female, 9 months, 40 lbs.

Hello there! My name is Abby. I am only 9 months old and still just a puppy! I know I don't look too much like a lab, and well, it's because I'm not... kind of. I'm a labradoodle; half lab, half poodle. I have the personality of a lab but all the benefits of my poodley good looks. I think I shed less than other pets (but due to fickle genetics, this cannot be guaranteed).

I learn quickly. I already know how to sit and properly greet with a firm handshake when I meet new people. In my foster family, I have two older brothers, and get along with them great! I'm also good with kids, and with some training, I could be a great family dog.

I am working on my crate training. The first few nights I got a little anxious in my crate but I am learning it is a place of safety and peace. I also have been slowly but surely becoming house-trained! I have had a few accidents but I am getting better each day. I have only been in my foster home for 1 week so far so I'm sure I will get the hang of things!

Overall, I am a soft and sweet girl. My foster family says I have a lot of energy and get excited when I see people I like. I always greet my foster parents in the morning by turning circles and patting the ground with my paws. My foster family says I do the cutest "tippy tappys" with my paws when I am excited. As you can tell, I'm very paw-focused and like to use them to interact with the world around me. I like to play with toys and I love hugs, I am so excited to go to my forever home and meet my new family!

Abby is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. Like all young dogs, she is still puppy-like and will require training, patience, regular exercise, and love to reach her full potential. Additionally, Doodles require regular grooming, but it does make them extra cute! So, if you would like to adopt Abby, please fill out an application at our website: www.labrescuefresno.org

In Memoriam - Finnegan

“We adopted him seven years ago on June 6. We think he was about 4 1/2 years old. He passed away on May22. He wasn’t a typical lab. Didn’t know how to fetch, didn’t know how to swim, didn’t even know how to walk up and downstairs. Looks like he had been in some fights with scratches on his face. Lab Rescue Fresno did a wonderful job fixing his hip And getting him healthy. We thought he would live the coastal life and in his own way he did. However, he was never able to do much socialization as he was a super reactive dog around stranger dogs. But once he got to know any dog he was great. Also, he was the best dog when it came to kids and people. Unfortunately, cancer in his heart came way too quick for us but for him he was able to pass gently and peacefully. We will miss him dearly. Thanks to Lab Rescue for everything that you do”. ~Neil Smith and Family~

SAGE is a lively girl who loves squeaky toys, long naps and wrestling with her brother. She's very outgoing and makes friends with every dog and human she meets. Sage has already learned to sit for treats, fetch, and come when called. Sage has a lot of confidence and has no fear of household noises like the vacuum cleaner or loud TV's. While she enjoys a rowdy game of tug-o-war with her brother, Sage is very sweet-natured and loves to cuddle with her foster mum before bedtime. Her favorite hobbies are playing fetch and standing in her water bowl.

BASIL is a smaller boy who is quiet and in tune with people. He follows his foster mum around the kitchen and patiently waits for breakfast every morning. Geneva – Yellow Female, 5 months, 40 lbs

Guess who? It’s Geneva!! The parvo survivor that your donations helped save!! Look at her now, the sweetest girl ever!!

Geneva was honored to have been named after a service dog that one of our volunteers recently lost.

Geneva is potty trained; leash training will come with time and practice! She loves squeaky toys and her fetching skills are almost as good as her swimming skills. She is cat and dog friendly and there are no concerns with children besides the regular puppy stuff!!

This adorable, lucky pup is available for adoption if you think you are ready for the chaos a Lab puppy brings to a home.

All puppies will be up to date on their age appropriate vaccinations as well as being spayed, neutered and microchipped. Kiara – Silver Female, 3 years old, 80.2 pounds

I am only 3 although my silver face sometimes looks like an elder dog. If you have ever been on a diet, you understand my pain. The Veterinarian labeled me obese at first and recommended a diet! To date I have lost 11.8 pounds…aren’t you proud of me? I am a young loving girl who especially wants a family. I love children and get along with other dogs. I don’t think that I have seen a cat.

From her foster: I am very proud of Kiara, not only for her weight loss, but how easy she is to have in the house. She is potty trained, only chews on her chew toys, and is an all-around loyal girl.

Kiara is a favorite at Clovis Farmers Market on Saturday morning, a Lab Rescue greeter of anyone who will give her a rub. She is very good with children. To Kiara a leash means that she gets an outing, and she is a very good traveler.

If you feel that she may be a match for your family, please apply today at www.labrescuefresno.org

Blanca - Cream Shepherd, 6-7 years old, 70lbs

Hello there Labbie fans! Now I know what you are probably thinking…I thought this was a Labrador Rescue, what is this Shepherd doing here? It is true, my name is Blanca and I am a beautiful cream Shepherd. In fact, I doubt I have any Labrador in me, but here I am looking for a special forever family. I am a very lucky girl who didn’t used to be so lucky. A while back I lived at a house with some pretty unkind people. They moved away and left me in the backyard alone, talk about bad luck! However, my luck sure did change when a neighbor who is a long-time supporter of LRRF saved me from that lonely yard and took me in. He made me a member of his family, treats me with kindness and love, and has shown me that there are truly good people out there. Now he needs help. His health is declining and all he wants is to find me a loving forever home before he moves onto his next journey. He asked LRRF for help, so here I am! After all, even though LRRF is a Labrador rescue, they always try to help all dogs in need when they have the resources available. There really are some truly great people out there!

So, a bit about me…I am a calm laid back lady with the quiet wisdom that comes with maturity. I get along well with just about everyone – little dogs, big dogs, cats, we can all be friends! I am as easygoing as it gets. Loud noises? No worries, I just ignore them and go on with my day. Leash walks? I am rock solid on a leash. No pulling or tugging here. I just stay right by your side and never try to stray. I don’t like to bark and draw attention to myself; I am very happy to sit quietly near you and relax. Perhaps you need a best friend to sit by your side and just be there for you no matter what? I am a great listener and will always be here to give you a comforting cuddle. I am a very good girl and I know we could make each other very happy!

Blanca is the sweetest, calmest dog! She is very easy to be around and just enjoys quietly hanging out with her people. She is an older lady with a fairly low energy level and only needs a couple of small walks a week. She has fabulous manners and is great with other dogs, cats, and everyone she meets! Obviously, Blanca is not a Labrador, but we have an opportunity to help her and we are happy to step up for her. Do you have room in your heart and your home for this gentle sweetheart? If so, go to www.labrescuefresno.org to learn how to apply to adopt Blanca today!

Athena – Black Female, 10 months old, 40lbs

Goddess of wisdom and courage, craft and creativity. Athena’s beauty is as radiant as her personality. Her soft coat is black. But surprise! She has sprinkles of white on her chest, on each of her four paws, and a dramatic bit of silver in her fan tail. So chic.

Athena’s life didn’t start out as she deserved, being a goddess. It’s difficult to believe, but somehow, she found herself in a shelter. Wondering if she would ever have a family. Knowing that’s no place for a goddess.

It’s unclear how Athena ended up there, but thanks to the defenders of dogs, the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, and those who will choose to adopt rather than shop, she had a second chance for a forever home.

Athena is an affectionate pup that loves to be loved. She wants to please. With her intelligence and focus, training will be a pleasure. She started out in a shelter rather than a home, so she’s learning the ropes of house manners and is doing great. She has not been destructive for a young dog, but does have her moments of shoe stealing or rug dragging for attention. She is quick to comply with house rules as she is shown. Athena sleeps in a crate in foster family bedroom all night with no problems.
Her energy level is medium for a ten month old.

She loves being outdoors. Exploring, hunting gophers at her foster home. Tippy toeing in slow motion, listening. Her technique is quite good however, she is 0-18 losing to the gophers at this point.
Athena can zoom around the yard or go for a walk or a hike, then lounge in the house with her people. Snoozing quietly. She loves it all. Just being with you is her favorite thing. She hasn’t had the opportunity to meet young humans yet. But she is so friendly, her foster mom thinks she would be good with children. As always, under supervision.

She is friendly and playful with the two dogs at her foster home. One a large male and the other a medium female. The three of them play well together, sharing toys. Athena is also good with the elderly cat. He is tolerant of her attention. She wants to play but controls herself like the regal goddess she is. To our friends and supporters who donated to help Pop, our parvo puppy, look at him and his sister Lolly frolicking at their foster home. Pop could barely stand, wasn’t able to eat and was terribly weak. If you ever wonder if even a small donation makes a difference… yes! It’s all of you together that saves them. Thank you all.

Buddy– Ready Made Best Friend
Black Male X, Age 1 year, 90 lbs.

Hello friend! Do you feel lonesome? Do you want to take walks anywhere and everywhere? Do you like to play fetch? Do you need a best Buddy? Well, if you answered yes to any of these, look no farther – I am Buddy and eagerly waiting to be your best buddy! When I find you, there will be no more being alone, there will be walks galore, and we will each have a best buddy! I am a big, cuddly guy waiting for a family to love and be loved by! So, what are you waiting for? Why don’t we get together and have a wonderful life! I’m ready to go – you bring the leash, I’ll bring the fun, and together we will share wagging tail love!

Wonder how everyone’s Buddy could end up here? Well, it is a story becoming much more common. My human who had me since I was 8 weeks old no longer has a home. There are so many with my same story that the shelters and rescues are overwhelmed. But thanks to people like you who look to adopt rather than shop, and the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, the best defenders of dogs in the whole wide galaxy, I have been given a chance to find myself a home. So here I am, looking for a forever home, my tail wagging, my heart open for love.

You should know my heart is as large as my outside! I never meet a stranger and can’t wait to say hi! Dogs of all shapes and sizes are fun too – I am always up for some playtime with anyone who has time. Fetch is good, squeaker toys must die, swimming is fun, but best of all I like walks by your side. I have the basics down – sit, stay, wait, down and off, but I am a pleaser and would love to learn more to make you smile. Really, I am the happiest of guys, looking to be someone’s best Buddy for life. Will you adopt me please? I can’t wait to meet you and show you how good I can be.

Buddy is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno. He is loving and good with people and dogs. He is a funny, sweet, happy-go-lucky guy who doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and has a tail that is always wagging. Like all young Labradors, regular exercise and training are needed to turn them into the best they can be. If you have room in your heart and home, and need a Buddy, you can’t go wrong with this fun-loving dog. If you would like to adopt handsome Buddy, please fill out an application at our website: https://www.LabRescueFresno.Org
