About H**p Cat
Founded in May 2015, H**p Cat Toys & More is a small business based out of Billings, MT that handcrafts premium cat toys and catnip blends through sustainable means with emphasis on giving back.
H**p Cat was first inspired by the cats from a local animal shelter. For over three years Jess volunteered cleaning cat kennels, socializing cats and doing laundry. Toys and catnip always seemed to bring a little happiness to the cats awaiting their forever homes. During her time volunteering, Jess noticed what toys the kitties liked best. She also saw the toys were typically low quality and did not withstand more than a few play sessions. Due to this, the shelter was typically low on donated cat toys and sometimes cats went without a toy.
Jess wanted every cat to have something to play with, so she dusted off her grandmother’s sewing machine and came up with a few popular basics including a ‘kitten kicker’, shaggy balls and mice which were durable and enticing to most cats. As she improved her designs, she started using h**p fabrics for their sustainability and durability. She also began to source materials exclusively made in the USA and donate a portion of proceeds to the Humane Society of the United States.
Today H**p Cat is a two woman show with Jess heading the toy development, manufacturing and customer outreach and Kelsey running marketing, design and social media. They believe high quality fun isn't just for dogs! Cats deserve the best toys and catnip, too. They are mini gods after all. That is their definition of 'living the high life'.
