We therefore get involved with an assortment of animals and various cultures of humans which requires effort, dedicated volunteers and money. GAWS is a non-profit organisation which is fully self-funded and receives no Government or local municipality funding. We rely heavily on the support of our volunteers, our local community and the Facebook family out there…

Our Mission & Goal: Our mission is to curb the ever-increasing problem of an over-growing population of unwanted and suffering animals! Our Goal is to make a difference! • Sterilisation • Education • Rescue, Treatment & Rehabilitation of sick animals • Feeding when food is available • Rehoming our township & street animals to loving owners

Fireworks are ILLEGAL in Theewaterskloof Municipality and the discharging of fireworks is strictly prohibited.

Let’s celebrate responsibly and protect our communities, animals, and environment.

Here’s why fireworks are harmful:

Animals: Fireworks cause extreme fear and anxiety in pets and wildlife, leading to injuries, disorientation, and even death.

People: Fireworks pose serious safety risks, including burns, injuries, and fires. The loud explosions can also affect those with PTSD, especially service veterans and trauma survivors.

Environment: Fireworks create litter, pollute the air, and increase fire hazards, especially in the dry and windy conditions currently being experienced.

🐾💔 URGENT: Help Needed for Sweet Senior Boy

Friends, our hearts are heavy this New Year's week. The much beloved 14 year old companion of a farmworker couple, was attacked by a neighbor's pit bull. Despite emergency vet care, he needed follow-up treatment, leaving us with significant medical bills (around R8000 - a huge amount for us)

He has been a loyal friend to them for years, bringing smiles to everyone who meets him. If anyone can help with his medical expenses, every cent makes a difference🙏

We had a very sad Boxing day - Mom dog was hit by a hit and run driver and paralyzed, so we had to send her over the rainbow bridge BUT she left behind 8 little ones, needing care, who went up to our kennels.
They are still very little, so we are feeding them puppy food which is a lot more expensive than our normal food.

Mufasa is back home and bright and breezy after his near death experience with snail bait 💕🐾
