Our only cuddle time with Boo Bear is when we trim his nails. You are so cute Boo! He is very aggressive (ER stitches in the making kind-of-bites) towards most of the staff here at TPR yet lives the life of a King. He DOES tolerate one male at the rescue with careful communication monitoring. He came from a hoarder house over 10 years ago so I understand. So many bird owners don’t get how they can feed, clean, & try to work with their parrot yet the bird continues to give them nasty bites and aggression. Parrots are unique in that they have a specific preference in who their mate will be and Amazon Parrots are super high on the list for this behavior. I say good for them for having high standards. Don’t lower the bar for some dumb human that wants to keep you in a cage when you should be flying free, miles at a time…choosing your own mate. Of course I am half-joking but y’all get the point! Avian training is always recommended & we have done that with Boo but he still says no. We are perfectly OK with that because here at the rescue, we see his true beauty! YOU DO YOU BOO

We were able to place an order for FUN parrot toys today with some monetary donations received this month. I absolutely LOVE this parrot toy company called Birdie Box Bird Toys. They support rescues and provide high-quality, safe toys for parrot enrichment. THANK YOU Dawn for all you do! Please go check out the website, it is very difficult to find toys that have a strong wood and such colorful design options at a great price!

That’s a lot 😂😂😂😂 A parrot rescue’s DREAM come true!!!! We had a large donation of newspapers 🗞️ today and they are pretty perfect! After they get set in the sun for additional sterilization, they’ll be put to p**p work lol! Fun fact, if you don’t wanna deal with lots of p**p, please do not get a bird as a pet. It’s pretty surreal to think that so much newspaper just gets thrown away and Bird Rescue people are constantly worrying about where they’re going to get their next free subscription. We have had to purchase packing paper in the past to use for cleaning bird trays as we change them out daily. It’s something we never want to do because the financial cost takes away from the parrot care and buying good quality food and toys to keep their body & brains healthy and happy. We love each and everyone of you for all of your donations. Thank you. ❤️‍🩹

So good! The finished Christine’s Banana Nut’s & Spice birdie bread! I added 3 eggs, a handful of shredded carrots, 1 apple, 2 jalapeños, 2 ripe bananas, Christine’s Chop Shop cinnamon apple breakfast bowl oat mix (1 1/2 cup) & extra coconut oil. The creative add-in foods are endless and so fun for your parrot! Will post pics after it is done baking at 350 F in the oven for about 35-45 minutes. 😋🦜

Birdie bread for the sanctuary fids 🦜from Christine's Chop Shop Christine's Caring Cupboard . I added 3 small eggs, 1/2 cup of applesauce, 1 cup cooked butternut squash, 1 cooked sweet potato, 1 banana, and a handful of frozen blueberries. Omgoodness, it is soo good!
