Reminder for everyone - if your dog is sensitive loud noises do not bring them to the July 4th fireworks display but rather crate them in a quiet and safe location. If you need thunder shirts, calming meds, etc - reach out to your vet now rather than the day prior.

Meet Bailey
Bailey is a 6 ½ year old Tri-Colored (Liver, White, Tan) Field Bred English Cocker. She is in the need of a new home because her owner has been recently diagnosed with dementia and struggles with Bailey’s energy and pacing due to a need for higher level activity than she could receive with her former family.

She is well tempered, can be with other dogs and animals. She can be with an active family or trained for hunting. She is currently located in Wisconsin.

If you are interested please apply at:

Note: Rescue is not able to transport across country so if you are interested in her becoming part of your family, please consider if you are able to work with us for transport.

Our Rescue foster dogs are fully vetted before being placed for adoption. This doesnt just mean vaccinations. It means ANY medical issue that we become aware of during the dog's time in foster care. Or that we were made aware of before taking a dog into our program.
Vet and medical costs and tests are not cheap. For example we have recently paid out almost $2000 for dental including tooth extraction, meds, urinalysis we cover costs for a whole host of other medical issues as needed including spay/neuter. You can be sure that if you adopt from us all known problems have been identified, addressed and shared with the adopter.
Our adoption fees are never intended to fully pay for an individual dog's medical costs, they never do. We are non-profit and are grateful for and depend on each of our supporters for donations that are paying forward for future dogs that come in to our program.

If you can donate for future rescue dogs please google ECSCA Health and Rescue page and contribute.

This sweet senior needs a special forever home. He needs a human or two that are pretty inactive. Jaxx gets anxiety if left alone at home and also panics if crated. He is deaf, slight vision impairment and those things may have something to do with his anxiety. He follows his foster mom on her heels. He does very well riding in a vehicle.
Current on all vacs, recent dental (lost 7 teeth) and foster mom is working with medication to deal with anxiety. Currently located in Phoenix. Foster needs to be close to Phoenix or surrounding area. If interested and can give this handsome boy a home please fill out application at the top of this page.

9/21/23 We are putting a temporary hold on the need for a foster. TEMPORARY. The couple who currently has Penny have agreed to get her teeth taken care of and discuss a possible need for med to address her anxiety for me. I want to have this done before we put Penny through another move/change in her life.
Please stay tuned for updates.

**********************************

I STILL NEED A FOSTER HOME FOR PENNY!!! WE HAVE HAD SOME GOOD POTENTIAL APPS COME IN BUT ARE FAR FROM THE CLEVELAND AREA! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION VOLUNTEERS JUST STANDING BY FOR A LONG TRANSPORT!!!
THE PERSON WHO IS HOLDING PENNY CAN DO SOME DRIVING PROBABLY NOT MUCH OVER 5 HRS ONE WAY!!

NOTE UPDATE: am in the process of reviewing a few potential foster applications. Please know that Penny is safe and being well cared for the moment, but right now we must have a foster with no other animals and MUST be located within a few hours of Cleveland.

This is Penny. Penny needs a foster home. She is 7 years old and has found herself in a life changing situation. Her elderly owner had a fall and has to live in a nursing home and now Penny is homeless. She is currently in the care of a family friend near Cleveland, Ohio, but its not working out.
Penny weighed a whopping 52 lbs because her human was not giving her thyroid medication and she was fed only human food. She has now lost 7lbsand has a ways to go. She is also socially backward never having lived with other animals and very few human visitors.
She needs to be an only dog until her reactive behavior can be assessed. Penny needs to be in a home where the human can work with her on these things, no other dogs or cats at this time! She is a very sweet girl but very confused about all the recent changes in her life.
This girl needs a minimum of 30 to 90 days in foster care. As always Rescue pays for any medical needs and her Thyroid med.
And remember, foster parents get first right to adopt after any issues and or concerns are addressed. We currently have no one on our wait list either for fostering or adoption that could be a match for Penny. If interested fill out our online application.

Update:

Toby has a home pending.

+++++++++++++
Meet Toby

Toby needs a new home! He is nine years young, a happy and healthy red boy whose owner is moving into a nursing home. Toby is neutered, up-to-date on his shots and an all-around healthy boy. He would do best in a home with adults only as he has never been around children, lived with cats, or other dogs and has enjoyed his own backyard. Toby currently lives in Decatur, IL.

These English Cockers are available for adoption with Second Chance Rescue in CALIFORNIA. They are NOT with our rescue. If you are interested you MUST fill out one of their applications.

The only information I have is that they were owner surrendered. And...they have resource guarding issues. So the Rescue wants to make sure they are adopted by someone who can continue working with and understands resource guarding.

This dog is safely in the hands of Second Chance Rescue in California. He will visit the vet and be evaluated on Tuesday. We will be assisting with a donation to his his medical care. We were not able to find anyone to foster him out there and are grateful to Second Chance Rescue. Anyone can make a donation to his care by going to their website.

THIS DOG IS NOT IN OUR RESCUE AT THIS TIME BUT IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION FROM THE DOWNEY SHELTER IN LA COUNTY, CA. IF YOU CAN ADOPT THIS POOR SENIOR GENTLEMAN PLEASE CONTACT THE SHELTER DIRECTLY!!!!

14/04/2023

NOTE...THESE DOGS ARE SAFE WITH A RESCUE AND ARE NOW IN FOSTER HOMES. THANK YOU ALL FOR OFFERING TO HELP THEM BUT WE ARE NO LONGER NEEDED NOW.

There are 3 field bred English Cockers in Iowa that badly need foster homes. They are kennel/former hunting dogs and their owner must give them up due to serious
Health issues.

These dogs are currently in the care of Hero's Haven Animal Rescue.

There are 2 males and one female. One of the males is not friendly with other dogs. The other male and female seem to be friendly, happy and sweet. BUT these dogs are NOT housebroken and will be projects consequently need a foster home with someone that can train and deal with this issue. Fosters need to be aware that these dogs will likely be in you foster care for several months more than the usual 30 days for the majority of our foster dogs.

I will post photos, ages and contact information shortly.

POPPY HAS BEEN ADOPTED! THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE THAT APPLIED!!

NOTE*****THANK YOU ALL WHO HAVE SENT APPLICATIONS! WE RECEIVED MANY AND CAN NO LONGER ACCEPT ANY MORE. NOTE, YOUR APPLICATION WILL GO ON OUR WAITING LIST TO BE AVAILABLE FOR WHATEVER DOGS BECOME AVAILABLE!!!

Meet Poppy a 4 year old blue roan English Cocker.
She is currently located in Oklahoma City, OK and ready for her forever home. Her owner had a change in her health and is the only reason she is available.

She is a sweet girl who is used to living with other dogs and cats and would do well with a family with children or an active family.

English Cocker Rescue can not supply transport so if you are outside of the area and interested in adoption, it would be the responsibility of the adopter to support that aspect of this adoption.

If you are interested in adoption please complete the form below:

Folks we need a forever foster home or an adopter for Maverick.

He is currently located in South Carolina. He is approx 11 years old and has been fully vetted.

Maverick is blind so a home with another dog that might bond with him would be great. He is an incredibly sweet boy! Mav has been fully vetted and has had a dental which resulted in losing multiple bad teeth being removed. But he loves his food and eats like a champ. He IS heartworm positive but due to his health the vet feels he would likely not live through the treatment. BUT he is receiving a mild dose of HW meds to kill of the any new worms. He does wear a belly band because at his senior age he sometimes can't hold it as long as he used to.

Maverick deserves a foster family that will love him for the rest of his life. He was found on the street as a stray. He loves kids and other dogs and really wants to be loved.

As a lifetime foster, Rescue pays his vet bills for the duration of his life.

If you could be Mav's lifetime foster pawrent or even know someone who could, please fill out the interactive application at: https://ecscahealthandrescue.org/index.php/ecsrescueadoption/

It would be easiest for him if he didn't have to travel too far to get to his next home. We will consider all surrounding states to SC.

Please help!

WE HAVE NOT FOUND A PERMANENT FOSTER YET FOR THIS SWEET GIRL. PLEASE...IF YOU CAN FOREVER FOSTER AMY OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO COULD PLEASE REACH OUT TO US. ALL VET BILLS FOR HER WILL BE PAID FOR HER THROUGH HER LIFETIME BY RESCUE.

We have a very special needs girl that desperately needs a furever adopter OR a life time foster home.

Amy is about 6 to 8 yrs old and has specific issues. She needs to be the only dog in the home. Other dogs cause her anxiety and she is food possessive when she feels another dog may take her meal. She has another unpleasant habit which the current foster parent has been working on. Amy participates in Coprophagia which is code word for, "eating poo".

Amy is in a foster home in D.C. and is current on vaccinations and recently spayed. She has been diagnosed with Cushings disease which requires daily medication and is currently running about $100 a month. In the attached photos you can see the lack of hair on her back which is due to the Cushings. Google Cushings for more information.

If a permanent adopter can be found, we will waive the adoption fee.

If no permanent adopter comes forward, we need a life time foster and Amy will be under Rescues protective umbrella. Meaning all medical and medicine needs be covered be us for life.

Keep in mind that we don't have regular transport volunteers so it would be best if she could be placed in a doable driving distance from D. C.

Can you help? Rescue realizes this is a big ask but Amy deserves a chance!

*******UPDATE*******

We are happy to share that Rescue has received several offers to lifetime foster Emmy. We are currently in the process of reviewing them all for the best option for her. A decision will be made as soon as possible. Thank you all for being such generous and willing supporters of English Cockers! Please don't forget to donate next week to Giving Tuesday so that we can continue to help our breed in need.
Karen

Emmy needs your help! This senior lady needs an adopter or a lifetime foster home. As most senior dogs do, Emmy has lumps, bumps and skin tag growths. But though she does sleep alot the vet says her heart is just fine and she is still active. We don't know how old she really is. At first we thought she might be 10 or so but the vet thinks older.
Currently Emmy is in central Wisconsin.

She would love to have a human to call her own whether that person is an adopter OR volunteers to be her lifetime foster parent.

Are you familiar with our Lifetime Foster program? It is an incredibly rewarding way to care for a dog that may not be as adoptable as a younger dog. If you want a dog in your life but have concerns about the financial care of a dog that no one steps up to adopt, Lifetime Fostering is a wonderful way to give back to our breed.
If you agree to foster a dog in need for its lifetime, ECS Rescue financially supports the dog for all medical bills for the duration of its life. It is a very rewarding way to support our wonderful breed!
If you interested in adopting or becoming a lifetime foster for Emmy, please fill out and submit our application pinned to the top of this page.
Thank you to all our wonderful supporters that follow our efforts here on this page!

Thank you everyone. Mason is now in a foster to adopt home.

++++++++++++++
Available for Adoption in Minnesota.
Mason, 7yr old blue roan male. Neutered, current on vaccinations.
House, crate, leash trained. Has not been around cats but not reactive when he came in contact with one at vet clinic. Gets along with and loves to play with the foster parents own dogs in the home. Loves to go on walks.
Mason DOES have some anxiety over noises and thunderstorms. His episodes of barking at these things have lessened the longer he has been in his foster home. But is something the adopter will need to continue working on.
Fenced yard is required. Mason will do well with an active family that can give him the exercise and attention he deserves. He is good with kids but because of his size and strength a home with older children would be best.
We will consider applicants from nearby States to Minnesota but any potential adopter will need to participate in his transportation.

If you are interested and can meet these obligations fill out and submit the adoption application pinned to the top of our page. https://forms.gle/1RNBS1Qk9oYyhTXD9

NOTE: if you have applied over 6 months ago you are no longer on our wait list and must submit a new application.

In memory of "Ashlee"

We received a $100 donation from Linda Givens in honor of her Heart dog Ashlee. Linda adopted Ashlee 13 years ago from a rescue in western Kansas. Thank you Linda for they memory donation that will help other rescue furbabies. And Thank YOU for adopting and loving her!! They leave pawprints on our hearts.

02/08/2022

Just a reminder....if you have filled out our online application from this page, we have received it. We haven't had the time to respond to each one that comes in. We have between 100 to 150 applications on our waiting list.
There are no dogs available currently. Keep in mind our process, if a dog does come into our program we look at the oldest apps first for a match and work forward. IF a dog comes in that is NOT a match to any on our waiting list, then we post the dog here on our Rescue Facebook
page.
I wish we had dogs available for each and every applicant but as most of you know, this is a rare and special breed with very committed breeders. Which is why we have so few dogs coming in.
NOTE...APPLICATIONS REMAIN ON THE WAIT LIST FOR 6 MONTHS. You must reapply after 6 months.
Thanks for you patience and loving this breed.

Update : Blue has been placed.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hello everyone!

Meet Blue.

Update: We would prefer to keep him in a home which has either no other male dogs. He likes cats and we believe female dogs will be ok.

Blue is a 8 year old English Cocker who we are looking for a foster home. The best home for him would be a single family home without young children as he has lived his entire life with adults. Blue has severe separation anxiety and we are working with the vet to find the right medications to help with that issue. He is currently located in the Midwest and we are hoping for an experienced foster who can assist in fostering him.

Fosters must reside in a single family home. Fosters who live in condos or apartments with common walls can not be considered for him.Hello Hell

02/06/2022

One of the most often asked questions we get from our readers is, "Where are you located?"

We are a national rescue and cover the entire USA! Unlike other rescues we have NO location. We have NO kennel. We are 100% volunteer.

So how does that work you ask?
First, the English Cocker Spaniel is pretty rare in this country and well protected by ethical breeders who typically only breed to have their next Champion show dog. These breeders breed to ECS standards to produce quality dogs.

But on to rescue.
If a dog does need to come into our rescue program, it goes into the home of a foster care volunteer not a kennel! The dog will stay with the foster for a minimum of 30 days while we address any medical needs as well temperament/social skills.

Once we have determined a dog is ready to be adopted we look for any potential applicants that are a match on our waiting list. And because we are all volunteers, our efforts focus on placing a dog near the foster home as long distance transportation is often difficult to arrange.

So in answer to that oft asked question again, we have NO location. Hopefully this helps all to understand how we operate.

Also please note our adoption/foster application is pinned to the top of this page if you would like to get on our waiting list. Because we have lots of potential adopters on the list and so few dogs that come in is why you rarely see any available dogs listed here.
Thanks for reading!

IT'S OFFICIAL GYPSEN HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!

NOTE: we have now identified several good homes for this girl. I wish we could meet everyone's wishes but there just aren't enough available dogs to go around. We are sorry we can't respond to everyone has inquired or sent applications, there are too many and we are just a few volunteers!
If you have sent in an application and don't hear from us, you will go on our waiting list. Again, there's just too many to respond to!
And please keep checking our posts, but also, carefully read them for important details. I saw several wonderful applicants this time that had they read my first post would have read that we would consider foster/adoption outside of OK if the applicant was willing to drive to pick her up.

Thank you all, we know it is frustrating that we don't often have dogs available. But it is because the breeders have done an excellent job of placing their pups. ECs are a protected, special and rare breed that make them often unavailable.
Karen

Hello everyone,

We are still in need of a foster family to come forward for Gypsen who is a 2 1/2 year old red English Cocker outside of Oklahoma City.

Please note, is a excellent with children, cats, etc but may not be in a home with other female dogs.

If you are interested, please apply here: https://forms.gle/1RNBS1Qk9oYyhTXD9

28/04/2022

We have a need for a foster home in Oklahoma. Dog is a youngish female who is alpha around other female dogs.

WE WILL NOT CONSIDER ANY INQUIRIES OR APPLICATIONS FROM ANYONE WHO HAS OTHER FEMALE DOGS!

PLEASE NOTE: we DO NOT have transportation available at this time for this dog so DO NOT inquire or apply from out of the State of Oklahoma unless you can drive the distance to pick up this dog.
