National German Wirehaired Pointer Rescue Finding homes for GWP's, 1 paw at a time. www.Nationalgwprescue.com (NGWPR) was developed in order to put that belief into action.

The officers and members of the German Wirehaired Pointer Club of America (GWPCA) believe that every German Wirehaired Pointer (GWP) deserves an appropriate, supportive and loving home and the National GWP Rescue, Inc. Sponsored and supported by the GWPCA, the American Kennel Club (AKC) parent club of the breed, NGWPR is committed to helping desperate and neglected Wires whenever and where ever po

ssible. National GWP Rescue is a nationwide rescue program whose volunteers work tirelessly to provide funding, foster homes, medical care and training for GWPs found in shelters, animal control facilities and to those GWPs whose current owners are unable to provide a suitable situation. The unstable economy has placed a strain on many families and has contributed to the unusually high number of GWPs currently in rescue. Feeling the impact of the financial downturn, animal shelters and rescue organizations throughout the United States are under—funded and over—burdened by the number of dogs and cats in their care. Oftentimes these facilities contact NGWPR and request assistance. Working hand—in—hand with governmental and local shelters, the Wirehearts Foster Care Network, provides a safe and responsible home for any GWP in need. Placed with an experienced GWPCA member—foster, GWPs that have been neglected, untrained or have medical issues quickly blossom as they are readied for their "forever" homes.

As many of you know in early October, I was on my way to nationals to raise money for Rescue. I was hit by a tractor trailer. The rental car was severely damaged. The police officer that took the information told me that I could receive something in the mail in a couple weeks. Nothing came in October or November. Finally, while I was in the hospital in mid December, I received a ticket for $182 andthe following day I received something from the sheriff saying that failure to pay would result in a warrant for my arrest as directed. I got a money order and sent it to the sheriffs office in Holly Pennsylvania. I thought that would be the end however today I received a summary trial notice, whatever that is. It says this court has received your play of not guilty to the above summary violation the sum of $182.has been accepted as collateral for your appearance at trial, failure to appear for your trials still constitute consent to trial in your absence and if you’re found guilty, the collateral deposited she’ll be forfeited and applied toward fines costs and restitution. You shall have the right to appeal within 30 days for trial de novo.
To say I am clueless is an under statement. Do we have any attorney followers in the state of Pennsylvania that could explain what this means and what I need to do.

😭 I don’t even know where to begin. Yesterday I received a call about this dog picked up as a stray alone in a field. He was at a Chicago shelter as many of you know I posted last night hoping somebody could foster him. Robin Palermo graciously offered to take him into her home, but first he really needed veterinary care. When Robin picked him up, she let me know just how bad it really was. She made him comfortable in her car and drove him directly to her vet. A short time later I got a call, I was really dreading. He had a massive aggressive melanoma which had already spread to the bone and he was constantly dripping blood. They also explained that he was in great pain and there was absolutely nothing that even the best surgical team could ever do for him. The only choice was to let him go, let him be at peace, Robin stayed with him and he passed peacefully.

I don’t understand how somebody owned this dog and petted him every day and fed him every day and looked at him every day and did absolutely nothing to help him. I understand Being poor and not having the funds to have the growth removed when it was still small, but we all have choices. He could have been released to a rescue or given up to a shelter, but whoever owned this dog chose to do nothing until he got to the point where he was in constant pain and unable to eat or drink and then instead of still doing the right thing and going to the vet, they dumped him in a field like a piece of trash and just left him.

Robin named him Oscar. I have asked that he be cremated and we will be sure to spread his ashes in a peaceful location and I will keep his paw print as a reminder of why we do what we do every day. Rest in peace Oscar, I hope that Robin’s beloved Vito was there to meet you. To Robin, I cannot thank you enough for what you did today, you are truly special.

Milo neutered male will be 3 in April located in Manitowooc, WI
Sadly a divorce and extra long work hours have forced the owner to look for a new home for Milo. He loves hiking, kayaking and he has been pheasant hunting. Milo loves to play fetch. He’s good on the leash and e-collar trained. He is a super sweet dog and he lives with two cats. We are looking for a home with no other dogs as Milo was attacked by a GSP and it has left him wary of other dogs. If you can offer Milo a new home please call or text Suzanne 860-921-7827 or simply fill out an adoption application on our website nationalgwprescue.com.

update-sadly he did not receive the medical attention that he needed from his owner so by the time we got him to the vets, the diagnosis was melanoma, and the tumor had already affected the bone and his eye there was nothing that we could do except to help him cross over the rainbow bridge . We have named them Oscar and are all heartbroken. This was so unnecessary that this dog suffered the way he did

We have a foster. He will be picked up today and taken to the Vet. Prayers needed!

Emergency Foster needed in Chicago-this dog was picked up as a stray and clearly he needs immediate medical attention. We don’t know much, but his temperament is good with people. Very sweet

If you can foster him, please call or text Suzanne 860-921-7827 or fill out an application on our website nationalgwprescue.com.

Wellston, OH

Duke AKA Boris- this handsome GWP was found laying on a sidewalk in the Ukraine. We don’t know if his family was killed or he was somehow lost. He was taken in by a rescue group and adopted to a family in the United States. Unfortunately, he is not good with other male dogs and was given to rescue. He has now spent some time with Heidi. His obedience is good and he is definitely ready to join a family. He is fully vetted eight years old and waiting for his perfect family. He would be best as an only dog or with a female of similar size. if you would like to add do to your home please call or text Suzanne 860-921-7827 or simply fill out a foster or adoption application on our website nationalgwprescue.com.
