ADOPTED ❤️ 🐾 KARL Vom OHIO❣️
Mission Impossible ACCOMPLISHED,in two short, intense weeks!
A wonderful woman named Bev who lives in the greater Dayton, Southwestern Ohio area messaged our orgGreene County Animal Care and Controly had a stray boy, a big lovable GWP.
Ronald my husband had just arrived in Yellow Springs, just 15 minutes from the shelter in SW Ohio to visit his mom Dagmar and help her prepare for winter. He had also volunteered to help transport the NGWPR rescue Lincoln from Chicago to Akron about a 8 hour journey to rendezvous with a wonderful GWP second time adopter who lives in Pennsylvania.
I told Ron what I saw about Karl online and he agreed… although a very precarious situation only being in Yellow Springs for a short visit-he said he would help Karl if NGWPR said we would work hard to place him right away (after all Ron has his own pack in California!)
So I said “stay as long as you need to honey and help Karl I’ve got our home and pack- no worries!”
I called Suzanne straight away! She looked online and said “well… it is indeed a GWP”. Flash bam bang‼️ I got on that phone ☎️ called the shelter and started official paperwork, and NGO documentation, the hustle, the bustle to break the big beautiful boy outta the joint! Karl had his neuter, my husband and mother-in-law prepared her home, and Karl just spent two loving weeks recovering, deworming, adjusting and bonding with Ron, mind you me still in California with our pack!
Many positive comments on the Facebook postings I made about Karl being available in Ohio for adoption.
Suzanne and another volunteer warned me that “Ohio is like a dark spot on the national map for adoption and foster 🤷🏽♀️ for GWP’s.” Being a born Ohioan it frustrated me hearing that mixed with all the negativity and national debate and news coverage on ‘eating dogs and cats in Springfield…’ sincerely I grew up in Cleveland, with the saying “Cleveland, yo

Meet Karl!
Your New Best Friend! 🐾
Are you looking for a loyal companion to fill your days with love and laughter? Look no further than this affable handsome dude named Karl! The definition of an athletic Velcro dog. This adorable GWP is searching for a forever home where he can truly thrive!
Karl is aprox. 3 years old and playful, affectionate, energetic outside but very calm indoors. He is 73 pounds, has intact full tail, he is in good shape, brown & white markings. Karl knows some basic commands like sit and come while inside house and he is very gentle with my 88 yo mother in law where he is being fostered right now e.g., he lays down next to her at dinner time! He loves to cuddle his stuffed toys, and loves to be pet and nuzzle your arm with his snout. He is good in the car.
Karl is living in a short term foster home, in SW Ohio after being in a local animal shelter for about a month where he was very well cared for. He was turned in as a stray, yet clearly he knows what a home is- he is doing well!
He would do best in a home with active people outdoorsy hoomans. He’s young and very strong! He will need to learn leash manners! He loves exploring and using his big nose!
Karl appears to be house broken, knows some basic commands. He was friendly with the next door neighbor and her female dog. He was adored by the amazing staff at the shelter. Let it be known, like many GWPs Karl is very triggered by cats and squirrels but was indifferent to a deer in yard. So no CATS for Karl!
Karl has been neutered as of yesterday he is up to date with vaccinations (except rabies- he will have this vax before placement) he is licensed in Greene Co. Ohio and microchipped. The vetranarian said he has some tartar and will need dental cleaning in future.
If you're ready to open your heart and home to a wonderful healthy companion, please contact volunteer Emily at 510-292-9078.

PREMARKETING KARL ❤️🇩🇪
PREMARKETING a boy named Karl…
Hello GWP lovers… Do you remember my post yesterday about ‘the left coast 🏄’ well Imma let you in on a little secret… I was born in Akron O-H-I-♥️ (yep Lebron James and Steph Curry were too 🏀 and… my family is all there, and grew up in the 216, The CLE, you got it the Cleveland Browns baby 🏈, The Ohio State University… the best people on Earth.) It’s where I learned the values of loving and caring and hiking and swimming in the big lake, in nature with my dogs all.the.time. I dragged every dog I found home.
Now, my husband landed in South Western Ohio as a military kid after being born in Germany 🇩🇪 spending his early life there. His 88 yo amazing mama- Dagmar still lives there in SW Ohio where… everyone has the sweetest softest different ‘twang going on. She however still speaks GERMAN every single day.
So when we went ‘home’ last summer to help with hospice care for three long months we brought BIG Bubba Walther my rescued GWP and my little love Clancy the 15 yo. terrierista. Dagmar has saved periodicals from her life. She bounded upstairs then downstairs with a German lifestyle magazine from 1959. Yep. It was in perfect shape. Its cover, had a beautiful Drathaar in it, and she read the article translating it to me and the dogs. The lady loves all animals but really thought it was magnificent that we had rescued this beautiful German dog in California and he was helping us get through the tough situation of end of life care for my husbands dad. Fast forward.
🐾Yesterday, volunteering for Suzanne and NGWPR going through the many too many FB msgs. I spotted a message from a lady named Bev. It was a screenshot of a scared, beautiful young male GWP no less right around the corner from my MIL and my husband who is helping her wrap up fall chores and the home for winter. I thought, this is strannnngeee… 🤔 is this serendipity? Is the universe trying to tell me I should have traveled
Long Post…
Happy PUPDATE (s):
Yo, Emily here from the left coast (read on), volunteering my time to give you the scoop on SHERO's. These ladies are rocking the GWP rescue world, and I'm here for it! Stay tuned for a healthy dose of humor and badassery!
💕🦸🏻♀️🙌 🏄
🦸🏻♀️ #1 Suzanne Oslander… well enough said. Not only does this woman work full time but she spends every additional moment of her life rescuing GWPs across this country and running this nonprofit as a volunteer. 🐾 Does that sound exhausting? Let me tire you out 💤 a touch more… she also has, loves, and cares for 4 (yep!) of her own GWPs. If you know the breed, you know this lady is heroic with what appears to be endless energy! As of this morning she was able to raise the funds necessary for a young lady and her young severely injured GWP Luna in Nebraska. That’s incredible! Thanks to everyone of you who chipped in. I shed a happy tear listening to her when I told her reading messages that a kind person had made a large donation. She absolutely melted when I read her the message about helping Luna.
🦸🏻 #2 Kimberly-Mark … do you guys remember Newt the fluffy older GWP in Texas? Well… I started going through FB msgs and Kim caught my attention. She sounded quite amazing herself, then Suzanne sent me her application to check references, etc. I said to Kimberley ‘you realize that Newt is very far away from where you are right?’ She said ‘yes, she was willing to drive.’ I checked her references and while many references I check are glowingly positive for rescue GWPs Kim’s were HILARIOUS! Kim had 2 GWP females already and was willing to drive 8 hours to give Newt a home, in what sounds like dog Nirvana on her land! But… there was an issue… NO ONE WAS CALLING ME BACK with references! ☎️ 🤔
Her vet did take my call and said… Ms. Kimberly was an outstanding human and dog lover. I had to listen 👂🏾 closely, cause ya’ll there w
