We still have this beautiful blue female. "Astor" is very affectionate, friendly, and happy. She loves to be with people and is amazingly patient with our toddler, even when said toddler "loves" her very vigorously. (Under supervision, of course.)
We have decided to drop the price a bit and we offer shipping to the lower 48, so if you're interested, let me know. Astor will be a wonderful companion and is also a good sporting or therapy prospect.
There are more pictures and a couple videos on our website: http://northstarbcs.com/puppies/

One of the questions I frequently received when friends and family learned that we were moving to Alaska was, "So, once you move there, will you start raising Huskies (instead of Border Collies)?" My answer was that we were taking our dogs - Border Collies and German Shepherds - with us, and we were not planning to switch to Huskies when we got here. Quite a few folks have asked how the dogs are adjusting, and especially how they're handling the cold weather, and there have been a few concerned family members (as well as a few folks who thought we were out of our minds to haul 6 dogs along on such a long trip.) While we would certainly not want to repeat the trip with the big trailer and all the dogs, they have actually settled in really well here. They handle the cold and snow very well, and have grown thick, beautiful coats and put on a good amount of weight, and they often choose to sleep outside their warm dog houses of their own free will. They love it when I take Elizabeth outside and turn them loose for a run, and they enjoy wrestling and chasing each other through the snowdrifts. They have even gotten fairly used to the moose strolling through our yard, and after an initial salvo of barks, they settle down and just watch them.
In addition to all this, Flora is showing promise as a future sled dog. We would like to train them all to pull together eventually, but that's going to take a lot of time, effort, and some more harnesses (a proper dogsled would be nice too, eventually). So for now, she's learning to pull Elizabeth on her little sled. Here is a compilation of video clips from our walk the other day. She did great!
I love living in Alaska, and although it has been cold and dark, the winter has its fun side too!

One male puppy left! (Last SandSpur Ranch pup before we move to Alaska!)

Jolly is the only puppy still available. He is looking for just the right home, and he will make someone very happy. He fits his name perfectly - he's big, happy, super friendly, confident, and has a strong play drive. I think he will be a wonderful active pet or agility partner. (Did I mention that he is big? 13 lbs at his vet check last week! does wonders! )
Jolly is almost 9 weeks old. He has first shots and a clear bill of health from the vet. Ready to go now.
Both parents are tested panel clear through Animal Genetics.
More info on Jolly and his parents is on the website: https://sandspurranchbcs.weebly.com/puppies.html

*Update: Snow has gone to her new home!

Snow is still available! (Jax x Cleone.)
Snow has been one of the friendliest, happiest pups out of both litters from a young age. She was chosen early on, but sadly she became available again due to unexpected life circumstances on the part of her buyers.
She is mostly white, with a chocolate patch on her rump and (most likely) green eyes. Happy, playful, big, and healthy. (And for those concerned about potential hearing issues: She has been one of the more observant pups in the litter and has responded well to auditory cues.) Please visit the website for more info on her parents and her: https://sandspurranchbcs.weebly.com/puppies.html
ABCA and AKC registrable. Panel clear for genetic disorders. Will come with collar, leash, toy, FL health certificate/ vet record, first shots, and 5 lb box of Sport Dog Food to get her started. (SDF is great, by the way!)
She is just waiting to be someone's perfect companion!

Cleone's pups had their first sample of real dog food and will be transitioning over to it soon. I love Sport Dog Food! It gives our adult dogs and growing pups all the nutrition they need.

Cleone's pups turned 3 weeks old, and Flora's pups turned 2 weeks old last Wednesday. I took new pictures of them all then, but have been unable to post this update until now. So I guess I'll...

Adult male Border Collie looking for a home:

"Jake" is a very sweet, very energetic 2-3 y/o intact male who needs a new home. He is not registered and his tail is bobbed, like an Aussie's. Apparently he did not have much training when he was younger, so he is still working on basic manners and obedience, but according to his owner, he has come a long way. I enjoyed being around him one evening recently, though he does like to jump, but otherwise he did very well. His interactions with other males in the past have not always gone smoothly. According to his owner, he does not provoke a fight or look for trouble, but he does not back down easily, even from a much larger dog. He did fine with one of my females (Flora), my family's (very goofy) Pyrenees/ BC mix, Flossie, and their old BC mix male, Kep.

Jake loves playing ball and Frisbee, and enjoys water. He did very well with all my younger siblings (aged 6-13), plus the various adults in the group. There was a lot of noise, activity, children on bikes, talking, throwing balls, etc, plus he was in a strange place with strange dogs, horses, and other stimuli, and although he was very alert and sometimes got a little wound up, he handled it all fine. He still listened to his owner, came when called, sat, and stood quietly leashed when needed.
He DOES need training, but he seems like a sweet, good dog. He is used to living inside.

Message me or call/text Jake's owner, Shelby, directly at 352-327-1103.

Pick of the Percy x Mishka litter is available for pickup! "Vienna" is very sweet and fun to have around. I just wish we could keep her, but we are sort of maxed out here, so someone else will get to take this special girl home. More info on the website: https://sandspurranchbcs.weebly.com/puppies.html
