Metal and Speed - Holly Martin Metal and Speed - Photography by Holly Martin Holly Martin, freelance photographer, artist, and land speed race driver.

As a woman land speed driver, accomplished equestrian rider and daughter of an award winning car builder and racer, Holly has been able to express through her photographs her passion in design and beautiful machines with the thrill of racing and high adrenaline speed.
“Sometimes, it is difficult to be a woman who is an artist, photographer, gear head and complete adrenaline ju**ie. The smells of

white grease and gasoline permeated my childhood and are unquestionably to blame for who I am today. I inherited my passion for metal and speed from my dad. He loved automobiles, and made sure that I did too. I owe my confidence in my life and my work to him.”
Holly specializes in automotive and mechanical photography as well as the unique culture of auto racing. The images she captures of classic automobiles, dragsters, hot rods, customs, and motorcycles are transformed into timeless works of art by her lens. Her distinctive images of land speed racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats and El Mirage dry lake are a reflection of her passion for innovative metalwork and the “artists” who build them.
“For me, car building is a unique arena in which art and invention morph and combine into functional masterpieces. Ideas are transformed into moving machines expressly designed to push the limits of what is possible. Sometimes, they never leave the starting line. Sometimes, they break world land speed records. I admire the unusual souls that love hot rods, land racing, and brass era culture. I am proud to count myself a member of their community. It is my pleasure to bring some of that world to others through my work.”
Holly’s work has been featured world-wide editorially and on numerous television and video productions, and most recently with the newly released book “One More Than 10 – Singer and the Porsche 911”. A short list of media includes:

On July 16, 2024 the hot rodding world lost a piece of its soul.
You would never know, this man, clad in simple overalls and a John Deere cap, has run over 400 MPH more than 50 times, achieved multiple speed records and is the fastest man on the planet in a wheel driven- piston engine race car.
Although he was born into very poor and humble beginnings, George gave to so many and never asked for anything in return. He was the embodiment of courage, determination and kindness.
A family has lost its patriarch, a team has lost its driver, and the sport of Land Speed racing has lost a luminary.
It has been an honor working with him, his team and members of his family.
George will forever be a hero, inspiration and a legend to so many of us.
Thank you George. May God bless you and Godspeed
