Hello, Everyone!! Went to VCA Centreville Animal Hospital yesterday to have my x-rays with Dr. Hart to see how my CCL repair surgery is progressing. I got the go-ahead from her to start having more activity in my day!! I'm now allowed to go up/down the stairs. Mom and Dad are only going to let me go down the stairs once in the morning and then go up the stairs to bed once in the evening for a week or so. I MIGHT get to go on a short Nature Walk soon and I'm soooo excited!! Baby steps, but I'm doing great according to Dr. Hart. Yay!! Thanks to everyone who is still sending me positive thoughts. 🐾😘

Hello, and Happy Saturday! Just an update on my progress since my CCL repair surgery on May 1. Mom and Dad are helping me to follow my recovery plan and PT. I'm feeling better each day. Last night I finally slept without the dreaded cone hat and didn't try licking my incision. Speaking of that, my incision is healing very nicely. Last night, we watched Terminator 2. As usual, I had a lot of things to say about the large truck. I wasn't quite interested in the Terminator himself though. Hope you're going to have a happy Memorial Day weekend, too. Thanks for all the well wishes and happy thoughts. I go back to the doctor on June 26 for x-rays and another checkup. 😘

Mom saw that I was totally bored today so she took me out onto the deck. Well...I found something!!!! Mom says it's a MOUSE nest as she's seen them previously. Mom is not a mouse fan and neither am I. I thought I found the mouse eventually...but it was a leaf. Maybe next time. Happy !!

Hello, Everyone!! Another update!! I'm doing GREAT! With the exception of ONE sneaky trek down the stairs (I'm not allowed to take stairs yet)...I've been a REALLY GOOD BOY! Mom finally figured out that plain poached chicken breast cubes (thanks to Zach at VCA Centreville Animal Hospital for the suggestion) really got me to take my meds! I like the "beef cookie" which is an anti-inflammatory called Carprofen but not a huge fan of that Tylenol 3 pilln which tastes bad. I'd love to run around like a crazy boy but Mom and Dad have put the brakes on me for now. My incision continues to heal. Thanks to everyone for sending happy thoughts!! This photo is of me waking up this morning in super cushy conditions. Mom took off my "hat" (cone) which I sleep in now so that I don't bother my incision. I was all covered up so snoozed a few minutes more. It was raining hard outside and sleeping in is total BLISS!!! I also stole Mom's down throw. 😁🐾😍

Hello, Everyone! It's been a week and a day since my CCL repair surgery. I'm doing very well and my incision is healing nicely. All is good except that I keep trying to sneak a few licks on my incision so I have to wear my dreaded cone hat. I try really really hard to look miserable with the cone hat on my head. Mom knows better and gives me hugs. Both Mom and Dad are taking good care of me. Dad is helping me with my daily physical therapy. I can't wait to go up and down the stairs on my own so Dad doesn't have to carry me in a sling. Mom is keeping my doctors at VCA Centreville Animal Hospital updated on my progress.Thanks to everyone who is still sending happy thoughts! I love you all!!!!!! 🐾🤩😘

Hello, Everyone! Happy Saturday!! I slept nicely last night and I'm getting back to my old silly self as you can see by the photos. Didn't want to eat much or take my meds the past few days. Mom got some chicken flavor Greenies pill pockets for me. OMG, those are so good that I lunged and practically snatched the first one right out of Mom's fingers with no idea that there was a pill inside! Now I'm happily taking my meds. I ate all of my dinner last night and all of my breakfast this morning! Dad has been icing my surgical incision area and doing physical therapy exercises with my leg. There was some blood seepage from the wound area so Dr. Vanderhoof at VCA Centreville Animal Hospital recommended hot compresses then cold compresses. That seems to have stopped the seepage as of today. Yay! Also I am putting weight on my leg now when I walk around. I have the dreaded cone on my head though and looking forward to healing quickly so it can come off at some point. No stairs/steps for me so Dad is carrying me up and down in a body sling. Also no long walks, just in and out to do business. Thanks to all of you for thinking about me! Puppy hugs and kisses coming your way! 🤗😘🐾

Good morning, Everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I'm feeling about 90% better this morning than I was feeling yesterday evening. I was whining and crying when we went to bed. I refused to take my medication and did not want any dinner. I didn't want to sleep in my second crate that Dad took up to the bedroom. Mom spread out some of my blankies and slept next to me on the floor and petted me for most of the night. This morning, I woke up all happy and went outside for a few minutes. I came back inside and went directly to my food bowl! Mom gave me about 2/3 of what I normally eat for breakfast and I ate it quickly and drank some water. Dad gave me my medication enticing me with a bit of his home-smoked pork shoulder meat. Now, I have my detested cone on my head and I am resting. No more whining! My suture area is bleeding off and on so Mom may call VCA Centreville Animal Hospital team this afternoon if the bleeding continues. Dad is using an ice pack on the area to keep the swelling down and I really like it! Thanks for all the love, Everyone! 😍

Home at last! My CCL repair surgery went very well thanks to VCA Centreville Animal Hospital and Dr. Gordon of Lazar Veterinary Surgery. I'm wandering around whining right now but things will be better once the anesthesia wears off and I get back to myself. Not a fan of the dreaded cone which I have to wear for 2 weeks. Thanks to everyone who sent me happy thoughts! Mom will update more as I recover. 😍

UPDATE: Around 11AM, Dr. Gordon, my surgeon, called Mom and Dad to explain my surgery procedure and what to expect afterwards. He then called again to let them know when surgery was beginning at 1140AM. At 1PM, Dr. Gordon called Mom and Dad to let them know that my procedure went very well. My CCL was totally torn but the meniscus is fine (yay) and the metal pieces went in nicely. He is predicting a very good outcome and recovery for me based on my following the process to return to good health!! Yay!! Thanks to all of you for your happy thoughts and wishes. Mom will update again after I am home and resting. 😍

Hello, everyone!! Just a quick update. I'm on some anti-inflammatory medication for my torn/injured CCL and am feeling a LOT better! Back to my old mouthy and opinionated self!!! Mom keeps reminding me that I can't run around. Dad's looking at some leg splints that the doctor recommended for now. I have a while longer to take the meds and then Mom and Dad will re-evaluate options. Send me some hugs! 🤗

Hello, Everyone! Mom and Dad took me to the vet today because I've been favoring my back left leg and not wanting to put any pressure on it for 2 days. We went to VCA Centreville Animal Hospital and nice Dr. Vanderhoof examined me. You all know how I'm such a wild dog, running around all over the place, barking like crazy? Well, the doctor found that I have an injured/torn Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) just like human athletes can get!! Wow, no wonder I can't put my foot down!! I now have some meds to see if they help me feel better. And I have to take it easy for a while so no more running around like a crazy dog. Send me some happy thoughts! 😘
