📣 ISDRA Convention Attendees! 📣

The Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club is excited to see you at the ISDRA Convention this coming weekend in Henrietta, New York! Here is the schedule and a few announcements/reminders:

🚢 We now have FOUR open spots on Friday night’s cruise on the Erie Canal. Please send us a message if you missed out and are wanting to join the fun!

🚢 If you are staying off-site and coming on the Sam Patch cruise, please come to the RIT Inn & Conference Center, and join us at a cash bar before getting onto the bus. Parking is limited at the cruise launch area, so ride the bus! Also, a tip for the bus driver is always appreciated.

💰ISDRA is holding its annual Silent Auction on Saturday. Donations of sled dog related items are always welcome. There will be door prize baskets in the vendor room on Sunday. Donations for those are also welcome.

🪪 If you look under the age of 30, be sure to bring a valid ID. The RIT is close to colleges and proper identification is taken seriously.

We can’t wait to see you all this weekend in New York!! Please let us know if you have any questions.

Our Vice President is participating in the Seguin Sled Dog Mail Run again this year!

What excites you most about participating in the Seguin Sled Dog Mail Run?
“For my second year, I am most excited about the welcoming community and their excitement of something I love. I will enjoy the scenery of the trail; watching the excitement of the dog team; their thirst to pull and how all the training comes to fruition.”

How did you get your start in racing sled dogs?
“I was introduced to it with a demo and trail run at a Siberian Husky Club event. My show dog loved it, and I wanted a way to exercise her. I also wanted something fun to do in the winter. I love winter and look forward to it even more now.”

What do you and your dogs do when you aren't racing or training?
“Camping, hiking, Winterfest demos, digging holes in the yard and being lazy on the couch.”

TODAY'S THE DAY!!!!

We are as excited as you are! We open at 7 PM tonight for our first overnight shift! It's going to be overwhelming, wonderful, and a little scary! We want to give everyone a couple of reminders to make sure every pet has the smoothest journey with us:

1) We are a lot smaller than VSES was, and smaller than most of the other emergency facilities in the surrounding areas. We will not have the capacity to see every pet. Like a human ER, we will need to prioritize the most critical cases. You may get redirected to another emergency facility. That brings us to:

2) Please call ahead if possible. We can help you assess your pet's situation and determine if we have the capacity to provide the care they might need. We can also collect your information and begin to check your pet in, making it easier for you when you arrive.

3) We will be open for emergencies NIGHTS and WEEKENDS only. The wonderful Animal Hospital of Rochester is providing us with a space to work, but they are maintaining their general practice in the space during the day. Animal Hospital of Rochester is a separate organization, and is not taking emergency patients during their hours.

4) Our staff truly cares about the pets we treat and the Rochester Community. Emergency care is stressful for everyone involved. Please treat our staff with kindness and respect, especially as we get through the hiccups to get the hospital up and running. We promise to treat you and your pets with compassion and the best care we can provide 🐾

Unfortunate News - Tugg Hill Challange has been canceled

The 2024 Tug Hill Challenge scheduled for this weekend, January 27-28, is CANCELED. The race team met this evening to discuss the current conditions reported to us today, grooming potential, and the forecast ahead. We determined that the incoming rain and warm up will cause the race trails to have unsafe conditions for dogs, equipment, and drivers. Registered racers: Please be on the lookout for an email in the coming days regarding refund options for your class entries.

We hope to race with you in the beautiful Winona Forest someday again soon. I think we can all agree that it has been TOO long! Think snow, and we will be back together when the conditions and weather allow.

Please join us for our next scheduled race, the Jersey Devil Dryland Challenge on March 9-10 in the New Jersey Pine Barrens.

**Found Dog**

Another pup who could use a good home 🐾

❤️💚 Meet Timber a three-year-old husky who was a stray and never claimed. He has now completed his vetting and will be ready for his forever home very soon and will be able to meet potential adopters the week of December 25th.

For a husky, he is a sweet boy but potential adopters should please research the husky breed if interested and husky experienced adopters are preferred.

*Adopted* Athena says Good morning!! She is the sweetest baby at 6 months old. She is very scared in the shelter and very scared. She would love to find her forever home before Christmas!! She wants that family that understands the breed and will give her the training and time to be her best self! The shelter is open from 10-4:30 Tuesday through Saturday!! Today is a good day to find your new best friend!
