Just 2 spicy baby peppers looking for love! 🌶 Meet Ghost and Jalapeno – 2-month-old Border Collie mixes that are ready to spice up your life and keep you on your toes! These sweet boys came to us about 2 weeks ago from a local partner shelter and are finally ready to meet their forever families. They love to wrestle with each other, play with squeaky toys, chase tennis balls, and snuggle during naptime. While they do not have to be adopted together, we always say that two is better than one and just look how cute they are! Both are being neutered today and will be available for adoption first thing tomorrow, so put a reminder on your phone and get ready for some spice in your life!

Nearly 20lbs of pure love and endless purrs, Lovebug’s only goals in life are to truly live up to her name. And that she does! This 3-year-old baby angel is the perfect cat – she has loved every single cat she’s ever met, enjoys the occasional zoomie (until she needs to rest and catch a breath), and will roll over for belly rubs whenever offered. She’s a lover of all food – whether it’s kibble, pate, or treats – she's not picky at all! Lovebug is an actual gem and is looking for a forever family to call her own. Hi!!!! My name is Jacob and I’m so, so, so excited to be here! I’m just a baby – only 3 months old, but I’ve gone through a lot since being here. I was brought here after testing positive for canine parvovirus because they help treat it in The Healing Place. I was so excited to be given a chance and lucky for me, my body was able to fight it off! And now that I’m feeling all better, I’m just so excited to finally be able to meet my new family! I love chasing tennis balls and playing with squeaky toys. I’d also love a home with another doggy friend to play with! Is that your home? Will you come meet me today?

She will be the only dog in her new home and her new family is wholeheartedly prepared to give her comfort and love for the rest of her life. Meet Boxer! This 4-month-old pup has been with us for nearly 2 months and is ready to bust out of his kennel and into his forever home! His favorite things include going on car rides, playing fetch in the yard, chewing on ice cubes, relaxing on the couch, and going for walks. Boxer enjoys playing with other dogs and would love to find a home with some canine friends to play with! He also does fantastic in a crate and is mostly house trained. We are so excited to be a participating shelter for NBCUniversal’s annual nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign, Clear the Shelters!

This month-long campaign runs through September 10th and partners with local animal shelters and rescues to promote pet adoption and raise much-needed funds for participating organizations!

We have made the difficult decision that Blanche should be the only dog in her new home at this time. She is having a difficult time adjusting to all of these new environments, and we’re hoping a calm home without other pets will be best for her until she has had more time to settle. 💚

Blanche is back with us. She was incredibly overwhelmed in her new environment. It wasn’t the best fit for her – and that’s OK. We won’t stop trying for Blanche. We won’t give up on her. Because we know her perfect fit is out there somewhere. And we won’t stop sharing her story until we find it.

Please help us share this post with your friends and family. Help us get the word out that sweet Blanche is still looking for her forever family. In her old age, she needs stability – calmness – love. Please help us give her another chance at forever.

The one word we dread the most – abandoned. She gave so many years of love, illustrated by the pepper gray surrounding her gentle features. She’s 12 years old. She’s losing her vision. Possibly her hearing, too. Her legs are giving out from hip dysplasia. We suspect she’s suffering from kidney disease. Poor, poor girl.

She was found wandering. They spent nearly two weeks trying to find her family. No one stepped up for her. After 12 years, that was it. She was alone. Everything she had known was now gone. And she needed our help. There was no question – we took her.

We named her Blanche. And she’s amazing. She’s loving, sweet, and patient. We’ve fallen in love with her. She has made an everlasting imprint on our hearts. But she deserves more than this. She deserves a family that will love her through her final days, however long that may be.

We don’t know if she has one month, one year, or more. But we can promise you that she will bless you with more love than you could ever ask for, no matter how long that may be. We know how hard it is for us to ask this. We know how much heartbreak hurts. But she needs us. And she needs you. Together, we can give her the best years of her life.

If you have room left in your heart and are willing to open it up to Blanche, please come meet her today. She’s resting in her kennel at the Adoption Center. But we’d love nothing more than for her to be in a comfortable, loving home tonight – and for the rest of her life.

Does meeting new people make you a little bit nervous? Are you typically the wallflower at social gatherings? Then Timber is the perfect guy for you! After arriving here about a week ago, we’ve learned that sweet little Timber is very shy around new people and places. But we get it! It’s hard being a tiny little guy. Weighing in at just under 11lbs, Timber is a lot smaller than most of our shelter residents. The world must seem so big and scary when you’re that low to the ground!

Meet our best boy Gibby! At just 2 years old, this sweet guy found himself without a home and was quickly picked up by a local rescue. After being brought into our care back in early July, we have fallen in love with his goofy, playful self! Gibby’s favorite things include playing in the yard, yummy treats (hotdogs are his #1), and snuggling. He’s a high energy guy and enjoys going on adventures, so he’d do best in a home with another dog and an active family. Gibby is the total package, so stop by the Adoption Center to meet him today!

Remember Sully? We posted about him back in June when he came to us after being found wandering the streets. Covered in scars and open wounds, it looked like Sully had been on his own for quite awhile. He was heartworm positive and nearly all of his teeth were ground down. After being treated for heartworms, this sweet guy came down with kennel cough. He’s still being treated in The Healing Place, but would love to spend his recovery in a comfortable foster home. If you’re interested in fostering Sully, stop by The Healing Place today before 6:30PM – walk-ins are accepted and we provide everything you need!

We’ve been trying to figure out what to say to share our appreciation. But words will never be enough to thank you for stepping up during our time of need. Because of each and every one of you, we were able to send 35 pets to foster homes yesterday. That’s 35 sick and injured homeless pets that slept in a warm, comfortable bed last night. All because of you.

You all are the reason we are able to save so many lives each year. It’s your endless compassion and support that make the difference in the lives of thousands of shelter pets. Without it, we couldn’t continue the work we do. So thank you. From every person on our staff. Thank you.

The Healing Place is accepting walk-ins again today from 10:30AM-6:30PM if you’re able to temporarily care for a foster pet. We provide everything you need to care for them – you just provide the safe space for them to stay and an abundance of love. Together, we can do this. Together, we can do anything.

🆘 WE NEED OUR COMMUNITY NOW MORE THAN EVER! 🆘

We know people are busy with school starting. We know now isn’t the best time to ask for help. But we have no other choice. The Healing Place is over 100% capacity. We’re absolutely drowning in their care.

We have 114 pets we’re caring for with a variety of illnesses and injuries, primarily URI and Kennel Cough. Shelter pets are spending their days in wire crates on the floor – we just don’t have space to put them in a comfortable kennel. We’re doing everything we possibly can, but without your help, we don’t know what we’re going to do.

We desperately need temporary foster homes. Even a week makes a huge difference. We provide absolutely everything you need to care for your foster pet. We just ask you to give them a safe, loving space to recover in. We can’t promise that it’s going to be easy – but we promise it will be fulfilling. Between the puppy kisses and the kitty purrs, we can promise it will be worth it. For both you, and them.

Here’s how you can help:

❗️ Pick up a foster pet at The Healing Place (307 Airport Rd) – walk-ins will be accepted all day today (8/5) and tomorrow (8/6), so no appointment is needed.
