Happy Tails 🐾 “Hello, just wanted to send an update from our first week! Her name is now Lou (previously Roxanne). She is settling in better than expected. She loves my husband and follows him around the house. She got some new toys but her favourite is the cardboard Amazon box. She has been flossing her teeth with our Christmas tree. She loves being pet and doesn’t bite. We did some research and she looks like maybe part Siberian cat part raccoon. Here are some pictures from her first week in Stratford.”-Eillis

Happy Tails 🐾 “Hello Arthur Animal Rescue, Just wanted to give you an update. The girls (Cricket and Pixie) are now 9 months old. Time is flying by. They have settled quite well, and rule the home.

Cricket is our pretty little princess who could never do anything wrong and wants cuddles and is a lovebug.

And then there’s Pixie. Pixie is our chaos queen who has an affinity for mischief. I’m sure there’s a warrant for her arrest somewhere.

I wouldn’t change them for the world. These two never fail to bring a smile to my face or a laugh with their shenanigans.

Thank you for giving me the privilege of adopting them. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year”-Kelly

Meet McTavish — the cat who means business 😼

This energetic boy came in as a stray and after a few months in foster care, he has made it clear he’s ready for a *different* kind of home. McTavish would thrive as a barn or shop cat where he can put his talents to work — chasing mice, patrolling the grounds, and keeping strays in check.

⚡ High energy = happy worker
👋 People friendly, on his terms - happiest after he’s done his “shift”
🐱 MUST be the only cat

He’s not a snuggle-on-the-couch type, but if you need a dedicated coworker with attitude and purpose, McTavish is your guy!

Thank you all for the amazing support! We have managed to bring in two sweet senior girls, each with their own health challenges.

We brought in Riley, a 16 year old ragdoll. She came to us this week as an owner surrender. Riley is in great health except for her poor rotten teeth :( She will be getting a full dental done which is a costly procedure. But, it will let her live the rest of her life in comfort and not pain.

Next we got Lilith from a local shelter. She’s estimated to be about 11 years old. Lilith is a sweet girl, who was becoming very shut down at the shelter. She is extremely obese, which is putting immense strain on the rest of her body. In just the short time she’s been with us, we are already seeing her open up, purr, and see the light return to her eyes. She will be going to the vet soon to ensure that she is in good health otherwise. It’s clear Lilith had an owner at some point but yet was never claimed. It’s unfortunately common for elderly cats, or cats with health problems, to be dumped or left behind.

All the other seniors at the shelter are safe! They are receiving exceptional care, and will be placed with other rescues as possible. They are in no danger ❤️

AAR receives no government funding. While we do receive some funding from local organizations, the majority of our funding comes from regular members of our amazing communities. We do rely fully on donations to cover the staggering vet bills and other expenses we accrue throughout the year. If you can donate, share, or volunteer, please do! It’s you that allows us to help these poor animals, and we can’t do it without you. AAR is a registered charity, tax receipts available for all monetary donations.

We had such a wonderful turnout at last night’s Christmas party! 🎄🐾 Karma and her kittens had a great time meeting everyone and soaking up all the love.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Morgan from Karma Yoga Studio Guelph for her incredible support this past year! 🧘‍♀️

From organizing donation collections at last night’s Christmas party, and hosting so many fun and relaxing kitty yoga sessions, Morgan has gone above and beyond to help our rescue. Her kindness, energy, and love for animals truly shine through everything she does.

Our team, and all of the kitties in our care, are so grateful for you, Morgan! Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and supporter. 💕🐱

Update; we have recieved a heartwarming number of foster applications and have been able to commit to saving a couple seniors! Other rescues have stepped in to help with others 💕HUGE thank you to our community! If you’re interested in fostering vulnerable cats in need, please apply! With your help we can save even more cats off the streets and in bad situations throughout our community.

URGENT: We are seeking foster homes for senior cats who have been placed on the euthanasia list at a local city shelter.

These are vulnerable cats, all 10+ years old, who have run out of time simply because they’re older and overlooked. We don’t always know their full histories, but we do know they’ve survived a lot, and they deserve a better ending than they’re currently facing. We have a deadline, and we’re hoping for a Christmas miracle for every one of them.

Most of these seniors are quiet, low-maintenance companions. Some were surrendered, others arrived as strays, but it’s clear most once lived in homes and were loved. Many are overweight, many have typical senior health concerns, and all of them need a calm, safe place to land. Without foster homes, we cannot pull them from the shelter, and they will be euthanized.

Arthur Animal Rescue provides:
-Full medical and veterinary care
-Food and litter donations as available
-A supportive team to help you through every step

You provide:
-Transportation, with the ability to travel to Guelph for routine or emergency vet visits

If you can help save the life of a senior cat who is at immediate risk, please fill out a foster application at arthuranimalrescue.com/foster

If you’re hoping to adopt a senior instead, you can apply at arthuranimalrescue.com/adoptables

And if you’d like to donate towards their medical care, e-transfers can be sent to [email protected] where you can also request a tax receipt.

These cats don’t have much time. A foster home is the only thing standing between them and a final outcome they don’t deserve - euthanasia.

Happy Tails 🐾The Drayton Potato Patch 🥔💛
Born outside in Drayton, this little potato trio kept rescuers guessing for weeks while their mom kept moving them around. When their hiding spot was finally found, Mom promptly decided she was over it and walked away from motherhood entirely.

At just 4 weeks old, the babies came into care, got a bit of bottle feeding, and instantly turned into the friendliest, cuddliest, most comically sweet litter — the kind that melts everyone who meets them. With their mom and older siblings safely TNR’d, these spuds grew up safe, loved, and ready for their happily-ever-after.

Adopter Update on Spud and Tater;
“Good afternoon, I just wanted to send my gratitude for the opportunity to have these lovely lil babies join our family. We have named them Aries and Ace (Atticus). Aries is the orange kitten who loves watching tv and cuddling with my pre teen. Ace is the tuxedo whom is also so affectionate and silly. We cannot express how much joy they have brought us, they’re so stinking cute our hearts are bursting and their personalities are so phenomenal. We are so very lucky to have them, thank you Arthur Rescue for your dedication to helping animals and thank you Heather for the love and care put into raising these precious littles. They are perfect!!”-Taneeka

It’s TNR Tuesday! 🐾🐈

Did you know that mature, unfixed male cats often develop large, blocky heads? These “tomcat cheeks” or jowls, are caused by testosterone. They help protect males during fights and signal to females that they’re potential mates. After neutering, these cheeks usually shrink, though the cats often keep a blockier look than those neutered as kittens.

This week, we brought in two males for TNR. One was an older boy from a colony in Alma who had previously managed to avoid the trap. The other was a young male from the Ward colony—the very colony that helped shape and strengthen our TNR program into what it is today!
