While this is a time for celebrating with family and friends, for pets, it can be stressful. Fireworks cause many dogs to feel scared and anxious, even if you’re home with them.
So, here are a few ways you can be prepared!
👉 Make sure your pup is microchipped or has your information on its collar, just in case it gets out.
👉Find a quiet place in your home and drown out any outside noise with music or the TV.
👉Ask your vet about calming medicine.
👉Let them run off some energy before the fireworks start so they are tired.

Our pups are curious creatures. Sometimes, they get into things they don't realize could harm them. So, just as you’d have a first aid kit for your kids, you should also keep a kit for your pup. 🐶🩺
Here’s what you should keep in it:
🐶 Keep important numbers on a sheet of paper. This can include poison control and your vet’s after-hours number.
🐶 A muzzle can keep you and the dog safe if the dog becomes hurt. Dogs can feel defensive and irritable.
🐶 Bandages and bandage scissors.
🐶 Antibiotic ointment.
🐶 Benadryl for allergic reactions.

So, to keep your furry friends safe, here are a few safety tips to keep in mind this summer!
☀️ NEVER leave your pet in a hot car. Even with the windows cracked, getting sufficient airflow for the pet can be difficult. It’s best to leave the vehicle on or keep the pet at home.
☀️ Limit the amount of outdoor exercise during peak heat hours. The morning and evening times are the best to play outside and get their energy out.
☀️ Don’t rely on fans to keep them cool. Especially on humid days, a fan will only blow around hot air, making the situation worse.
