Riley (aka Low Ryder) was rescued by the Mercer County Animal Shelter before ending up with Paws for Seniors. His foster mommy was a fellow mom on my son's soccer team. We met him at a game and fell in love. We had recently lost our 13-year-old Russel mix and were looking for a new companion for us and our 11-year-old Schnauzer mix, Sydney. Riley loves to play with his family, chew on his bone, l
ay in the sun, and sleep on his "Mommy chair". His best friend is my 7-year-old son, Benjamin. Unfortunately his front legs come from his Basset Hound heritage and they are growing dangerously crooked. X-rays show that while one of the bones in each of his front legs have stopped growing, the other is still getting longer and longer. His left leg is dangerously close to dislocating. The slightest trauma may cause it to dislocate, causing excruciating pain. The only remedy would be putting him to sleep. We can't let that happen. After a lot of research we found a veterinary hospital that will do the surgery for half the cost of local surgery centers. Unfortunately it is still very expensive (around $3400-$4000). We've managed to get a personal loan, but after several years of employment difficulties, it's going to be very difficult to pay back. Anything you can do would be appreciated.
