Been a groomer for 15yrs+ and a Vet Tech for 24yrs. Cat Boarding in the same relaxed setting, but in a private Cat Room. My lifetime career has revolved around pets. From a young age I always knew I wanted to do something in the pet industry. Well, my life has been pretty diversified in this field. Everything we do is “animal related.” From horses, to dogs, to cats and everything in between. I st

arted out in High School working for our family vet. Little did I know I’d be with them for almost 24yrs. I did everything from Tech work to running, managing the clinic. My job was unique as I worked the front office as well as the back. This made my relationship with the clients very personalized and this was what I appreciated the most. Yes, animals are my passion, but the people and the long time relationships built along the way are what I’ve enjoyed the most. I had always enjoyed grooming and we did a little in the Vet clinic (mainly for medical reasons) but I always wanted to take the extra time to make them look presentable. As I became a single mother, I started looking into grooming. I studied up on the breed grooming and became certified. So I groomed dogs 2-3 days a week. As my vet was approaching retirement, I decided this was the direction I wanted to go. He slowed his practice down as I built my grooming clientele. It was an easy transition as I had so many of the same clients. I would also bring home a few cats at times that needed medical treatment/boarding that the owners didn’t want to do at home. I’m happy to say I have such special relationships with these clients and their pets. I hate to use the word “clients” as they’re more like friends and family. I enjoy nothing more than to have the time to visit with these friends. My husband, Ted, and I also did Obedience training and competing with our Schipperke dogs. We trained several of them through the highest levels of Obedience with most of them earning titles. We dabbled in Agility for awhile while our dogs were younger. We volunteered for many years at our local kennel club teaching Dog Obedience classes for basic and Advanced levels. Oh yes....the Photography enters the story too. Our love for photography and animals made us study up on pet photography. Learning proper lighting and techniques to capture studio quality photos have hung on many walls. We helped our local Feed/Pet Store start a pet photo contest. The winning pet was featured on the treat bags for the store for that calendar year. Ted and I, and our dear friend Yvonne, became quite good at this. We spent many hours in the cold with a huge line of people waiting for their turn at their pet’s photo. We just weren’t satisfied taking “snap shots”, we made portrait quality photos. But with a line of people, we had limited time. I think we averaged under 5 minutes per pet. Of course many would show up with “wardrobe changes” as well. Oh what fun it was. We took Christmas photos and Halloween photos for many years. Unfortunately time became limited for our photography business as we started getting more involved in showing our horses. So now you know “our story.” I’m sure you can see a pattern here. Our lives revolve around pets and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The best part of all of this, is that it has made me such a well rounded pet professional. From grooming to training to veterinary care I feel fortunate to have so many years behind me on all of these aspects.

We had a new guest a couple weeks ago. Meet Chopin he is a purebred Maine C**n. He was quite the cat. He was huge and bigger than most dogs I groom. What a cool boy. It's hard to tell how big he is until you see him looking in the little kitty house that most "normal" size cats fit into. No way could he fit in there.

Another "senior" that I have been grooming for a long time. This is Ziva. She may have an "extra cute" smile and not hear or see so well, but she's one tough cookie. She is very loved by her family and they make sure she's well cared for and comfortable.

Love my "Seniors." This is Ginger. She has been coming to me for a long time to get her once or twice a year shave down. I was trying to guess how old she is. The first time I groomed her it was 2012 and she was certainly not a puppy. Her owner isn't sure either as she belonged to his mother before she passed away. She's been well loved and cared for. She may have a few lumps and bumps, and can't hear or see too well, but she still enjoys her life.

Haven't posted many photos of Arlo, the Bengal lately. I just can't seem to capture how bright his colors are. He's such a cool cat. His personality is so comical & he's fearless. He absolutely loves our dog Logan. Logan thinks of him as his little annoying friend that wants to hang out and sleep with him though.

Happy Thanksgiving. A day for us to all reflect what we're thankful for. I'm thankful for family and friends and all the furry ones in my life. I'm very thankful for all of those that trust us to care for their dogs and cats as we would our own. This Thanksgiving we get to play with these darling kittens, "Honey & Rex". They were among 15 kittens that were dropped off at our vet's office one night. They're thankful for a loving home.

It's been a very busy week here in the cat boarding rooms. All have been so much fun and very enjoyable.

Our Life revolves around Pets

My lifetime career has revolved around pets. From a young age I always knew I wanted to do something in the pet industry. Well, my life has been pretty diversified in this field. Everything we do is “animal related.” From horses, to dogs, to cats and everything in between.

I started out in High School working for our family vet. Little did I know I’d be with them for almost 24yrs. I did everything from Tech work to running, managing the clinic.
