Some #asmr skritches with Marty. He’s starting to come around to us and decompress a bit 🤍
This is just the beginning of your story. From terrified and confused, stressed and disheartened. Not understanding why you are in another new place. This is it boys, I promise. You will never be shuffled anywhere else. You will only know love and kindness at our hands. You won’t have to do your stressed out circle dance. (We consulted the vet and it’s not EPM). You won’t have the broken hearted or fearful look in your eyes anymore. This is love. This is your happy ending. I promise.
The last week and a half have been incredibly difficult. Last week I had a very scary moment when I woke up where I couldn’t walk. I would fall over and couldn’t get my legs under me. It went on for a little bit longer until I made the decision to go to the emergency room. They ran lots of tests and scans but couldn’t figure out what the cause of my unsteadiness was. They feared a possible stroke so they transferred me to another hospital for an mri. Luckily the mri came back clean. They then concluded it was vestibular/vertigo issues. I was supposed to be on bed rest, we know that didn’t happen, but I did take it as easy as I could for the next couple of days until I was able to walk without falling over.
During that time so much happened at the sanctuary that I simply just didn’t have the energy to post about. One of those big things is sweet Wonder boy coming out of quarantine and being introduced to some new friends. We made the decision to place him with the sheep and smaller goats first as they are closest to him in size. The other cows are so excited and have met Wonder thru the fence but we are scared with his recent surgeries that he is just not quite ready enough to meet them just yet.
This has been my absolute favorite moment since Wonder arrived here at Doe Eyes..him walking out into the pasture and looking around at his new home. Knowing that he is safe and that nothing bad is ever going to happen to him ever again. You can feel a calmness in him as he stops and surveys everything. This is what we want every animal that comes here to feel. Peace.
I was able to get the vinyl flooring laid down in the new cat house! (Yes, I know you can see the seams from where the pieces join, and yes it is driving my ocd crazy but you get what you pay for lol) We choose to go with sheets of vinyl in our cat houses because they are super easy to tear out and replace when the animals eventually mess them up. We have plans to get the walls up hopefully by the end of the week. Things are moving and we are so excited for the lives that this new building will help save. PLEASE if you are able to help us pay for this building we would be so appreciative! We still owe close to $7500 on it and would love to not have that monthly payment loomed over our heads. We know that it’s not an exciting thing to donate for like an emergency kitten or calf but this building is just as important for us to cover financially. Even $1 helps tremendously!

Some very excellent skritches for Mr.Wonder this morning. His incision is healing up so well! We couldn’t be happier! 🤍🖤
We have an incredibly exciting announcement! 2 weeks ago we had this building delivered to the sanctuary. It happened right around the same time as Wonder’s surgery so we wanted to keep as much attention on him as possible but now we are so excited to show everyone! This is our newest cat house/building!!! To many this looks like a normal shed building but to us it looks like hundreds of lives being saved over the coming years. We chose this particular style of building because it can essentially function as two separate rooms. They could house litters of kittens as they need rescuing or rooms where we socialize skittish cats in an indoor environment or even eventually a leukemia + room where we rescue and save leukemia positive kitties that are so incredibly hard to find placement for. The possibilities for these rooms are endless and so are the lives they will save! The building itself costs roughly $8,000 and we put down $500 so we would like to try and raise as much money as we can to help pay this building off in the next 90 days or we will get hit with an insane interest rate on our monthly payments. Some people might ask, “why did you get this building if you couldn’t pay for it fully”? And that’s a great question, we would love to have the funds to buy life saving things like this but unfortunately that’s not a reality for our rescue at this time. What is a very real reality is that we get anywhere from 5-20 messages, text, Facebook tags, emails, phone calls, in person requests to assist with sick and dying kittens and cats. Every. Single. Day. We simply don’t have the space to help anymore, and that kills us. We know that purchasing this building isn’t going to save all of those animals but it will put a huge dent in the amount that we can! So today we are running a $5 (or more!) Friday fundraiser to try and help raise as much money and support for this live saving building. Any amount donated will help us tremendously! Over the next week we
Wonder wants to give all of you a big smooch! He is recovering so well we honestly can’t even believe it! We can’t wait to get him out with some of the other residents as he is such a social boy and totally needs to be around other animals. Did you know that Wonder still needs a sponsor?! If you would like to sponsor him and help us care for him please join our patreon! You can sponsor Wonder, or any of his friends here at Doe Eyes, by joining Patreon and choosing the “sponsor a furry friend” tier. The donation comes out of your account the 1st of every month so you don’t even have to think about it! You can cancel at any time with no fee and it’s an amazing way to help us care for all of the animals here at Doe Eyes. The link is below!

If you are looking for an insanely affectionate weirdo to be your new bff then look no further, Honey is it. Honey came to us a few months ago after she was found dumped at a neighbors property. She wants allllll of your attention and would make someone an incredible companion kitty. If you are interested in adding honey to your home please reach out and let us know. You can also start by filling out the adoption application! Please share this sweet and silly girl so we can find her her happily ever after!

Today was the big day! We just got off the phone with the vet that preformed Wonder’s amputation surgery. She said that the surgery was much much more difficult than she had originally thought it was going to be. That the leg was very deeply fused to his skull and into his sinus cavity as well. I asked her about the leg and if it was a shoulder growing from his forehead, originally what we had thought the case was, and she told us no that it was indeed a back leg. Wonder had been a twin and reabsorbed his twin in utero, all except for a back leg. She said other than the surgery being more invasive everything went smoothly and Wonder was just starting to come out of anesthesia. He will be staying at the vet center for several days for post op care and recovery. We will continue to update everyone on his condition as we check back in with the vet. Wonder is far from out of the woods just yet and we definitely need to continue to fundraise for continued care. The vet also didn’t feel comfortable with preforming the castration surgery with the amputation as he would have been under anesthesia for far too long. So we have continued surgery in the future for him as well we need to plan for. Please continue to donate and share this sweet boys story if you can! And please send him all the positive thoughts vibes and prayers you can! 🤍🖤

One of DudePig’s favorite things is a good fresh mud hole or fresh pool to roll around in. With all this rain recently it’s safe to say he is in muddy pig heaven. DudePig came to us from a hoarding situation all the way from California! He is one cool DudePig 🐽🤙🏼
We can’t even begin to express how happy we are that this boy landed with us and is safe and happy. Welcome to your new life Bubba (still deciding on a name) 🤍🖤 We can’t help but feel like our sweet boy Stevie lead you to us. We love you so much already.
