We are a sanctuary that provides permanent residence for rescued farm animals such as pigs, hogs, cows, horses, goats, sheep, chickens, roosters, and any other animal in need of rescue and love that may come along. Not only are we a forever home for our rescued farm animals, we also dedicate ourselves to always taking in any dog or cat in need within our capabilities to do so- we will never turn a

way an animal especially in emergency situations. We are determined to make sure that every animal that finds their way to Doe Eyes will find their happy ending and get the love they deserve.

Nightlight came to us as a 6 week old fully blind, incredibly sick baby that someone found on the side of the main road. After months of meds, TLC, surgery and love this is him today. Active, silly and sooooo affectionate. He has always been blind so he has no idea anything is different about him. He runs and plays with his other kitten friends, uses the litter box with no problem and eats like a champ. We would really love to find this sweet boy a furever home before the holidays. He would make an amazing companion for another active kitty or for someone that is retired or works from home. He loves attention and will crawl onto your shoulder like a parrot. Please reach out if you would like to open your heart and home to this incredible boy.

Also, please spay and neuter. Nightlight was one of the lucky ones that was found and brought to rescue. Soooo many kittens aren’t as fortunate and die a slow and painful death. This is so avoidable. If you need help with spaying and neutering reach out to rescues. I promise you, we would rather help spay your cat than have to take care of the litter it has in 2 months.

I am genuinely at a loss for words. You all stepped up so much and helped us save not one but TWO souls from being sent to slaughter and losing their lives today. I was so scared we were not going to be able to save even one. My heart was in literal pieces as I had to make the decision on which one to try and save. I can’t put into words how happy I am that now I don’t have to think about Bertha being loaded on to that shipping trailer. To everyone that donated, that shared, that liked and commented to boost the post, thank you thank you thank you 🙏🏼

‼️ She Ships to Slaughter TOMORROW ‼️

I know this may be a long shot but we were made aware of this sweet soul over the weekend. She was bought by a kill buyer and is going to be sent to slaughter tomorrow unless someone pays her bail outright to save her. We want to try to do that. We told ourselves no, that now is not the time to do this and take this on. But I haven’t been able to stop thinking about all of these horses shipping out. Non stop. We can’t save all of them that will be shipping tomorrow but if we have the chance to save her I really want to try. Her body score isn’t great so we will definitely have to work on getting her weight on track but she deserves a chance. Her description said she is “broke to work and drive” and “probably just had a foal and was dumped in time for winter” 💔💔Her “bail” is $1,250 and we have to have that raised IN FULL by tomorrow morning! I know it’s a stretch and a huge ask, especially with everything else going on at the rescue but I wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight if I didn’t try!! If we cannot raise the full $1,250 by tomorrow morning when the kill buyers trailer arrives at the property then whatever money we have raised will go to save another horse with a lesser bail amount. But our goal is to save this girl. We just have to MAKE SURE we have the full amount. If there is ever a fundraiser to donate towards it’s this one. This girl can either ship to our sanctuary tomorrow or to Canada to be slaughtered. Please help us save her!

She is currently being held at a rescue in Va that has a relationship with the kill buyer. They bring in 10-15 horses a week and networks them to find rescues or adoptable homes so these horses don’t ship. If their bails aren’t raised by that next week then they go back to the kill buyer and they ship to slaughter. This truly is their last stop before the end. The rescue that temp holds them to try and find homes for them cannot keep any of them. This is just how they try and save a few more before it’s too late. Please help us save her!!!

EDIT: YOU ALL DID IT!!! This girl is officially safe!!!!!! We will be coordinating transport for her to the sanctuary this week!!! PLEASE READ BELOW THO!!!

I do want to mention that there is one other draft mare that will also be shipping to slaughter tomorrow as well. I had to decide between the one we just fundraised for and saved or this other BIG girl. The second Mare (we will call her Bertha) has a bail of $1,500. If by some miracle we can raise that amount as well she can come stay at the sanctuary too! We have $200 of the $1,500 already from roll over donations for this first girl. So if we can somehow raise $1,300 more then TWO lives can be saved. I didn’t post her originally too bc I didn’t know if we would even be able to fundraise enough to save one. But yall are so amazing that I’m just going to put it out there and see if we can somehow try and save this second girl too!! Photos of her in the comments and will be making a whole separate post about her as well!!

✂️ SURGERY DAY!! ✂️

Today is a very big day for 2 of our residents! Our sweet new Brier boy is having his eye removed and getting neutered along with our reigning sass-pot, back end paralyzed girl, Queenie, who is getting spayed! Procedures like these are so important and are required for any of our rescued animals to have done before they can go to their furever homes. Today is such an exciting day but is also going to be quite an expensive day. We know we have been running fundraisers left and right but we would be so appreciative if you could spare even $1 for these two. Also, please send them both thoughts, vibes and prayers as they go under this morning 🙏🏼✨🫶🏼

Y’all we really want to help this poor mama and her babies that were so terribly failed by humans. The problem is we have no space at the sanctuary right now. Like none. Is there anyone that could foster this sweet family for us? We will take care of all the medical needs and finding homes for all of them once the kittens are large enough. Please reach out to me asap! The nights are getting so cold and I don’t want the babies spending another night outside!

EDIT: if you don’t think you could handle taking in a mama and her babies, but think you could handle a couple older kittens or even one or two adult cats, that would be fine because then it would free up space at the sanctuary that we could take in mama and her babies babies. So please take that into consideration as well!

🤕 Sick Kitten 🤕

This little guy was found outside in a town not far from the sanctuary. We picked him up this morning from the family that found him and have a vet appointment later this afternoon to have him tested and checked out. Unfortunately, he will 100% have to lose the one eye but the other one seems to be in decent shape. He definitely has an upper respiratory infection that we will have to put him on medicine for but despite all that he seems to be in good spirits just not feeling well. We have named him Brier and will keep everyone updated on what the vet says later today!

Since it’s Friday we see it fitting to do a $5 Friday Fundraiser for Brier to help cover his medical costs for today and his future surgeries (eye removal and neuter). If you are able to donate any amount at all to help this sweet boy we would be so appreciative! Thank you so much in advance!

🌾🥶 STRAW FOR THE RESIDENTS 🥶🌾

As temperatures are starting to get lower and lower we are needing to insulate the sanctuary residents buildings and barns so they can stay snug and warm, especially overnight. We found someone selling square bales for $6 a bale. We would love to purchase 20 bales tomorrow and start really winterizing everything here at the sanctuary. If we could get 20 people to sponsor one bale for $6 we could cover this cost with no problem. Please, if you are able to donate any amount we would be so appreciative!

✨🙏🏼 PawPaw Needs Help!!! 🙏🏼✨

For those that are newer to the group, or for those that have a memory like myself and can’t remember why I walked into a room lol, we rescued the most affectionate and sweetest cat I’ve ever met around this time last year from a shelter. His name is PawPaw and he was at a shelter where he was going to be put down due to lack of space and him being sick. He came to us and we got his eye removal surgery that he desperately needed to have and continued to keep up with his other chronic respiratory issues. Despite being chronically snotty PawPaw is active, affectionate, great appetite and an all around amazing cat.

However, yesterday I walked downstairs into the kitchen to find 3 large puddles of thrown up blood. Then as I was sitting there cleaning them up he walked over next to me and threw up two more large puddles of blood. I immediately called the vet and took him in. They ran a plethora of tests and did an X-ray of his torso. They did find some free fluid in his abdomen but everything else came back clean and clear. He was incredibly active at the vet, crawling all over everyone and loving on them so they didn’t feel the need to hospitalize but did say to bring him back in today so they could pull fluid off his abdomen and test for FIP. So we are headed back into the vet this morning to get that done. We have never had a kinder soul here at Doe Eyes than PawPaw. He loves everyone and has never so much as hissed at another animal.

Please please please if you are able to help us cover this very unexpected and scary situation we would be so appreciative. Even a $1 donation is so appreciated. We are looking at probably around $300 for all of the testing and bloodwork. We just simply done have that extra at the moment. Please find it in your hearts to help us help PawPaw. We would both be so appreciative of you did 🤎

“We’re gonna have a good day, cuz ain’t nobody gonna die today”! THE GIRLS ARE HERE!!! They unloaded so well and immediately started chowing down. We are so happy to have them here, safe and loved.

Milton says “let him cook” Whenever we are in the kitchen we have to act like we are frying Milton something up, then we give him a treat lol. Milton is still looking for his furever home. We would also be open to Milton having a loving foster home for the holidays so he could be spoiled and experience having his own family.

Yall remember the trash can kitties? Well, here is one of them (Bullet) letting me know it’s time for another bottle. He has also started his apprenticeship at the kitten bakery making biscuits. They should be ready to sell by our grand opening event on the 21st and 22nd! Come see Bullet and all his other kitten friends that weekend!

This is just the beginning of your story. From terrified and confused, stressed and disheartened. Not understanding why you are in another new place. This is it boys, I promise. You will never be shuffled anywhere else. You will only know love and kindness at our hands. You won’t have to do your stressed out circle dance. (We consulted the vet and it’s not EPM). You won’t have the broken hearted or fearful look in your eyes anymore. This is love. This is your happy ending. I promise.
