I don't want to get my hopes up as this year has not been good for cockatiel eggs. But Dapple and Nova have 3 eggs and at least 1 is fertile and developing!

Picked up 3 new dumbo ear female ratties at the flea market today. They are future breeders and are so sweet.

And the oldest rat in the house award goes to this guy! He was born in the winter of 2021 and is a rex Siamese split to Harley. His father was a Harley who died from cancer almost right when he was born. He is starting to show his age and unfortunately one of my other males must have injured him. I found him with a large hash in his right back leg today. So he is being isolated and will be treated for his booboo. His cage mates included one of his sons who was born in January of this year. That is pretty impressive! I also saved a daughter from the last litter he sired.

And then there were 2. The birds all get scrambled eggs with chopped veggies and spring mix greens today. I have some birds who won't eat chop or pellets, but all of them eat scrambled eggs, so I add chop to the eggs and they get it.

Hippo is the oldest gecko in the house. In Feb of 2016 I got a phone call about a gecko and a ferret who's owner died. The owner had been a guy I knew as a kid. He died in a motorcycle accident following the death of his wife. So the leopard gecko and ferret came home to my house. The leopard gecko is named Hippo. For hungry hungry Hippo.

I pulled this solo chick for handfeeding on Tuesday. Today I banded him and took a few drops of blood for DNA sexing. But if I was a betting person, I would say it's a boy. It's a whiteface split to pied and will have a really nice crest with a lot of white feathers mixed it.

So I worked for over a year to produce my first tri color male mouse. He had an ear infection but has completely recovered with antibiotics. I found 2 female tri color mice at the Tampa repticon this month, And one of my males sisters gave birth to 3 baby tri color mice! I'm so excited. :)

Every wonder what goes into caring for all my animals? I do not have employees or kids to help. It's just me and once in a while the boyfriend helps with some of the bigger projects. But otherwise I clean, feed, water and maintain my "zoo". My bf was awesome and got me a bunch of insulation sheets to add to the animal building. It's been brutally hot here in Florida and my little AC unit is working over time to keep the critters cool. So this will be a huge help :)

I'm trying to think of a name for this beautiful little girl. She is from Ghost my red eye martin and one of my silvermane mommas. I don't think I have ever seen a rat with her coloring before. I might name her Elsa...she looks pretty frosty!

Have I mentioned how cool degus are? Like I am totally in love with these 2!

Degu proofing their wheel. The male is soo friendly and comes to us for attention. The girl is more timid but I think with time and work she will become as friendly as this guy

The last baby quakers of the year. The boy is already reserved. The girl is so sweet..definitely one of the nicest babies I have raised.

Baby quaker cuteness. The opaline blue Female is still available. But she has a month before she weans.
