LAST month thought it was best to go back to work part time because of a certain canine family member and others that racked up some vet bills.

An absolute heartbreaking tragedy in the farming world.

Dave and Karen, co-owners of internationally-known Universal Ostrich Farm, a.k.a. Omega, located in British Columbia, Canada, have between 400 and 500 Ostriches and have been operating for around 35 years. I’ve visited their farm and the shared meals with them many times, and in fact it’s where I got most of my breeders five years ago.

Dave and Karen have been working with the government for years and just got the green light last year for their antibody program, which entails extracting antibodies from ostrich Eggs, as Ostriches have the strongest immune system in the world. These Antibodies have been proven for decades to combat Covid, SARS, And ironically, H5N1.

Dave and Karen just got news today that EVERY single one of their babies must be culled as avian influenza has been detected in their flock.
Karen has birds on her farm that are over 30 years old, that she now has to say goodbye to.

Ostriches are all they know, and all they have—they’ve put everything into this journey that is about to abruptly end.

My heart is lost for words. 💔

Ive found countless drowned mice in the water buckets, so I’ve given them an island to use as a springboard!

See?? It’s a good thing when I leave the hose running by mistake for hours and hours as it carves through the property. It gives life to others!
