Where should I begin....

This is the story of my mum’s journey in Brasil, over 40 years of dedication on rescuing, rehoming and helping animals in need.

Since I was a child I remember being surrounded by dogs and cats, mum was always stopping the car to rescue stray dogs, neglected animals...soon we had a house full of 4 legged furry friends. They were my companions, my friends, my family. As an only child I was so lucky to never feel alone. We were 3 humans, mum, dad and me but a but felt like a big family to me.

I remember my first connection with a stray cat that my mum rescued, we named her Melody, she was already pregnant when my mum found her in the streets of Petropolis (rural city located 1hr from Rio de Janeiro).

Dogs, cats and me were inseparable but since all of them came from streets, neglected, sometimes people would just throw them over our gate (everyone knew my mum’s love for animals). So yes, I remember her telling me over and over, Luana go wash your hands, stop bitting your nails, wash your hands after cuddling the dogs, or cats...also they usually would have fleas and would take time to eradicate, also deworming...Mum used to buy worming tablets for all of the animals and of course Me.
