We do not need more backyard breeders. The shelters are overwhelmed with unwanted dogs. ADOPT DONT SHOP

DO NOT BREED MAREMMAS.

There is an unprecedented oversupply of maremmas.
Registered, back yard, paddock, whatever.
Don't breed.
Every Rescue is full and overflowing.
Not just us, every single one.
Dogs are booked in for euthansia everywhere.

There's a lot going on in the background with rescues shuffling things around to accommodate dogs that they genuinely have no room for, can't really afford and have little to no chance of rehoming to anywhere appropriate.
We do this to stop dogs from being euthanised because of stupid people who just can't be told.
I've lost count of the number of private rehomings on our waiting list, probably 70.
There's 70 dogs here.
There's multiple Pounds who have made contact for us to take maremmas.
The time, the effort, the stress of it is huge.

I pretty much look after the dogs fully by myself.
People ring up whining about how we should take their maremma because they no longer have enough time for it.
Guess what people?
Make time. I have zero sympathy.
How do you think the dog is going to get more attention here?
How?
You have 1.
I have 70 plus 200 other critters.
How?
Increasingly people seem to think we have to take their dog and that they have the right to discard it on the slightest whim, then become abusive, slightest us on socials and carry on like the idiots they are.

My favourite are the people who didn't make it through our adoption process who then acquired a maremma elsewhere and then want us to take it because it gets out, it barks, it chases animals, it bites people, or whatever.
The reason you didn't make it through our process is that it was clear to us that at the time you were not equipped to take on a Maremma.

Adoptions and donations are very low atm.
This makes a tough job tougher.

Appointments are limited this month, as we won’t be scheduling for New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1st). This service is for friendly, owned pets (Community Cats are not eligible for this particular service), and due to high demand and limited spots, we kindly ask that if you’re able to book through a private practice vet, please do so.
