Meet our volunteer of the week 👋 - fundraising manager Chelsey!

Chelsey volunteers selflessly at our rescue and coordinates all the fundraising we do around here! Funds raised go towards making sure our dogs have all that they need while they’re waiting for their forever homes.

Parvo Positive Puppy again 😭 Tanner was just admitted to Pulse and has tested positive for Parvovirus! Tanner is now getting the best treatment from the amazing vets at Pulse but he has a fight ahead of him to beat this virus! We are drowning in vet bills with over $15,000 in quotes in the last 2 days!!! Gracie has our AHHRB family’s full support but this is an extremely costly situation. Hey everybody!
My name is Brahm and I am a burst full of fun. I am a very sweet boy that is working on my “chill” state.

I’ve got a beautiful soft coat that goes nicely with my super cute face. I am energetic, I love to play with dogs and I’m enthusiastic. (I may jump up when I meet you, but don’t worry I’m working on that!)

I’m not super chatty, but my bark really comes out when I’ve had enough of my kennel. Or when I get startled by new people.

Activity level high! So activity daily is a must for me

I would do really well with a family that enjoys being active. Would do great in a house with other dogs as that tires me out!
I would love someone with patience and the know how & time to invest in my continued training. Needs time to settle, and needs someone with patience and time that can reward my “settle” self.

Someone that wants to help me desensitize around bikes and cars .

Did I mention I am a fully trained boy? I am crate trained , potty trained and leash trained. I am working on loose leash training, but I’m doing great with recall. I’ve never been off leash. But I’m excited to try that!

Likes: playing fetch, wrestling with other dogs. Chewing on bones and stuffies.

Dislikes: car rides, and grooming . Working on them, and it’s coming along well

Dogs: Yes, love to play and wrestle

Cats: Yes, but the herder in me likes to chase if they put the run on

Kids: Older kids!

Why foster?!

Meet sweet Amber. The second slide is her fate had our rescue not been able to provide her with a safe loving foster home.

This is one of the MANY, MANY, MANY messages we get in a day. Our intakes are closed because we simply don’t have people willing to open their homes to a dog in need.

Foster homes are the cornerstone of our rescue. Without them we simply cannot operate. As a rescue we supply EVERYTHING for your furry rescue pal. Food ✅, crate ✅, vetting ✅, toys ✅, access to a highly qualified dog trainer ✅ you name it. Our foster homes in turn provide the love and care for our rescues until they find their forever homes.

Meet Bauer! She is a 5 month old pup needing a place to crash starting thursday evening and ending Sunday Aug 25! A few things about Bauer is she is abit nervous of some men, so she will need some time to learn that they are safe! Bauer is great with other dogs she just needs an off leash intro :)

Hellooooo,
I am Luke the cutest little guy ever, I am much smaller than you’d think I would be but that makes me even cuter. I was found in a ditch with my sister and thankfully AHHRB took us in and found me a great foster home so that we could have a second chance at the good life. I am an all around good boy, I like cat friends and dog friends and human friends. I’d like to think I’m quite popular and can make anyone love me so I’m sure I’ll be scooped up quickly by the perfect family. I’d love to have a dog friend in the home to play with and go on walks with; I’d make the perfect addition to an active family looking for wonderful pup. I am crate trained and love sleeping in there at night I am also basically fully potty trained (I’m a puppy though so accidents sometimes happen - but I’m doing great). I am working on sharing my things like my bully sticks and high value treats and toys, so I’ll need a bit of guidance on that but I know I’ll get past it with help.

Likes: Things I can chew on, walks, stuffies, food, I LOVE my people and cuddling with them on the couch. Playing with kitty friends and dog friends!!

Dislikes: Sharing my high value treats.
�Dogs? Yes please I’d love to have a friend in my new home.

Cats? I’d be happy with a cat friend too!!

Kids? I think older kids who can take the time to get to know me would be best.

👋👋Meet our forever Foster of the month… Oscar!👋👋
Did you know we have forever fosters? What does that mean exactly you ask… well from time to time we become responsible for dogs with medical issues or special circumstances for which they are best suited to remain in care with a foster family. In these cases, this means ongoing care, veterinary visits, special dietary needs along with the joys of providing love for a foster pup. Alberta Homeward Hound Rescue Bureau relies solely on donations and fundraising.
Your generosity goes a long way for all our rescues, whether they’re forever fosters or adoptable pups. We are pleased to introduce our forever foster Oscar:

OSCAR​
When we first saw Oscar, the senior bulldog, was looking for a foster home, we jumped on the opportunity, thinking he would be a perfect fit for us since we had lost our senior dog a year before. We brought him home expecting all to go well, but within minutes of him being at our home, we came to the conclusion that he probably wouldn’t be able to stay. He and our 16-year-old cat did NOT get along. We agreed to keep Oscar until another suitable foster family with no pets came up. During this stressful time, there were a lot of tears, a lot of heart-to-heart talks with Oscar to get along with the cat, and lots of calls and texts from numerous people at AHHRB guiding us through. We wanted Oscar to feel unconditional love when he needed it the most so we worked very hard with him and are happy to say that the cat and him are now best friends. We have since introduced Oscar to our Grandpuppy Benson, a three-year-old Cockapoo, and after a week, they are also now friends.

Oscar is 50 lbs of love; he is happiest when snuggling his mom and dad on the heated blanket or following us around the house. He is full of personality and wants love, attention, and food. Oscar takes his daily meds like a champ, and even though Oscar has allergies that cause skin conditions and ear infections, he is still a happy-go-lucky boy. Oscar will know love and protection for the rest of his days with us, and our hearts couldn’t be more thankful that he will be our forever foster.

When a dog comes into Alberta Homeward Hound Rescue Bureau they are matched with the best possible foster home for their known needs and personalities.
We schedule a veterinary appointment to get a good picture of their health and requirements. Before being ready for adoption, all necessary medical & veterinary visits are completed. Your dog comes to you with:
• full vaccine record
• spay/ neuter
• health information from the time we receive them
• microchip

A huge thank you to everyone who made our tattoo fundraiser a raving success! With your help, we raised over $3,000 for the sweet animals in our care. If you didn’t already know, this money goes towards things like food, vet bills, and medication for the sweet AHHRB beasts.

A special thank you to the wonderful and talented artists who made this all possible! This team of bad-ass, powerhouse women donated their time, materials and talent all for a wonderful cause. We literally could not have done any of this without you.

Hi my name is Kendall!!! I’m a shy girly with so much love to give but on my terms, I appreciate space unless I come to you for loving or to give you a quick smooch. I’m not too big and have 2 human foster siblings so I’m great with kids, I lead with caution but sometimes curiosity gets the better of me and I wanna play!
I may look like a princess who prefers the couch but I am thriving on the farm, I get along with all the cats and dogs we’re all bffs and play so well together! I am veryyyy smart, probably because I spend most of my time watching and learning before I’m comfortable.
Likes: I love fetch and all sorts of toys and playing with my foster siblings!! If you’re ever looking for me, just check under the bed it’s pretty likely that I’m taking a snooze there!
Dislikes: The vacuum is my mortal enemy, I hate it, I will not be friends with the vacuum. I also prefer to come to you on my own terms vs you forcing your love on me.
Dogs? I LOVE dogs, all dogs. Big ones, little ones, boy ones and girl ones!
Cats? Same goes for all my cat friends! Love them!
Kids? I like kids as long as they respect my boundaries and know that I can be shy!

Hey everybody! We are needing more wire crates specially 40+ inch crates along with crate mats/bed!
We have alot of growing puppies in care and they are outgrowing their smaller crates and are needing upgrades!
