Visiting for the last time 💔🦄💜 This gorgeous place was my helm from 2011 onward. The place has been sold and I'm so glad I got one last sunset and visit with it's resident horses, dogs, and people that all move to their new home(s) soon. My journey this week begins from this ranch and it seems very fitting to of stayed one more night 🌙

What do we think about this? 🤔

There are so many pervasive beliefs in the equine industry
Stuff people made up years ago and enough people listened that it became gospel
Regardless of who you listen to or who you believe we are also capable of thinking for ourselves too !
Trust me when I tell you, most of the stuff you hear is NOT scientifically based and therefore still open for discussion!!
I encourage you to ask yourself
Does it make sense ?
Does it make sense that a HORSE’S limbs would grow at vastly different rates, so that the entire conformation is altered, when this doesn’t happen in any other species ?
Ya no
So what IS happening when the baby horse is so uneven
The rib cage is SUPPOSED to move between the scapulas. It is supposed to lift towards the sky as the baby horse pushes into the ground
But most baby horses are squished behind.
Their hips are not stable
They over load and collapse ( instead of push ) into their front end to stay upright
They squeeze their little rib cages between their front legs so their bodies don’t fall between their legs
It kinda sucks not having a collar bone
The squeeze hard enough they get stuck
They get butt high as the little rib cage stays in place by the squeeze
Eventually this starts to shift a bit as they get stronger and we wait and wait for the withers to ‘pop’
When we could stabilize the hind end just enough for the baby horse to relinquish the squeeze and up goes the rib cage

And we call that normal
Because it’s so common
But if you spend some time thinking about it, it doesn’t make sense and it doesn’t allow the horse to reach its full potential

Anyone familiar with selling in this auction? I'm thinking about putting my mare in it, but is it just pennies on the dollar? She's shown 2nd level to 69% Materiale 80% and schooling 3rd level work with Clean PPE including xrays.

This girl is on the market to be sold. I have a ton of inquiries, but no one really interested? Is she that far off market or just the usual tire kickers in a colder market? She's gorgeous, she's well trained, she's got a good mind, she's young, she has a nice show record.

Her gaits are nice, not extra-ordinary, but gets into the 8's. She's easy to sit, she is sensitive, but uncomplicated to ride, great ground manners, is fine in a stall, but loves to be in pasture with others, she's been trail ridden, taken over xrails, goes thru water, goes over a ditch, is as brave as her rider, trailers easy.

She's had 1 owner, been taken care of, had feet regularly trimmed since a foal, grew up on pasture playing with others as a young horse should, started right and left to grow up some more, first show was 20 days under saddle and she was terrific, she showed at Regionals last year 2nd level, placed 7th out of 14. This is on 3 to 6 months riding per year...she is not over ridden and gets the winters off to grow up.

It brings so much joy to watch students really get feel. The ability to influence their horse w/ positive change. Feel & timing are The hardest for me to teach, it's creating an independent rider (no longer reliant on the instructor)

Updating my Ba****ck pad.

My current one I bought used almost 30 years ago from a friend for $50-...back than alot of money. I've still never seen anything like it, it's in great condition, and I still use it.
I'm excited to use the new one on my big mare... she's nearly 17h WB and my current one fits some pretty big horses, but not her and I can't change the girth on it so I thought it was time for an update and with inflation the price tag is 💰💰💰 Hope it's worth it 🤞
