❤️ Share the Love, Not the Barking: Valentine's Day "Speak" & "Hush" ❤️
Want a more peaceful Valentine's Day with your furry sweetheart? Instead of chocolates and roses (though those are nice too!), give the gift of a well-behaved pup! This positive reinforcement method teaches your dog to bark on command ("Speak") and then be quiet ("Hush"), so you can enjoy some quiet romance.
1. Teach "Speak":
* Trigger: Use something that makes your dog bark (doorbell, toy, etc.).
* Command: Say "Speak!" enthusiastically.
* Reward: Praise enthusiastically as they bark. Treats are optional, but extra love is always welcome!
* Timing: Praise immediately when they bark. Repeat in short, loving sessions.
* Fade Trigger: Once they bark on command, remove the trigger.
2. Teach "Hush":
* Get Barking: Use "Speak" to get them barking.
* Treat: Have a super high-value treat ready – something extra special for Valentine's Day! Think tiny pieces of cooked chicken or cheese.
* Command & Lure: Say "Hush" firmly but calmly. Immediately put the treat in front of their nose.
* Silence: Hold the treat until they're quiet (start with 1 second!).
* Reward: Give the treat and calm, loving praise ("Good hush, my sweetie!").
* Duration: Gradually increase quiet time before rewarding.
* Repeat: Practice "Speak" then "Hush" in short, sweet sessions.
3. Generalize & Apply (for romantic outings!):
* Different Places: Practice everywhere – even on romantic walks!
* Different Triggers: Use various "Speak" triggers.
* Real Life: Use "Hush" when they bark excessively (doorbell, other dogs - start at a distance).
4. Troubleshooting (for a smoother Valentine's Day):
* Consistency: Everyone uses the same commands.
* Positive Reinforcement: Reward quiet; don't punish barking. Love conquers all!
* Patience: Training takes time. Be patient with your furry Valentine.
* Underlying Issues: If barking persists, consult a trainer/behaviorist.
* No "Speak" Bark: Try different triggers, mimic a bark.
* Barks During "Hush": Shorter quiet time, better treat, quieter environment.
This Valentine's Day, share the love, not the barking! This method helps your dog understand when barking is okay and when quiet is expected, creating a more peaceful and loving home for you and your furry Valentine. ❤️

I’m getting a lot of messages about this sweet dog. Here is all of the info. He is available to foster OR if you want to adopt him, you must foster to adopt him. He needs more vetting and that is why. Once he is vetted, he can be adopted.

He is 1 years old. He’s dog friendly but I did a dog test with 3 other female dogs and he tries to mount them. He is not neutered & also in a kennel all day so that could be a factor. As soon as we can get an appt he will be neutered, and he will calm down in a home environment. That can be worked on.

He loves ball. He drops it for you.
He appears house broken.

I don’t have a cat or kids to test him with so idk if cat or kid friendly. He’s a nice dog.

I initially asked for temp foster so still need that but a long term foster is even better.

Our process: message me first so I can ask questions to make sure it’s a good fit. This is so you don’t waste your time filling out an application if it’s not a good fit, or so we can give you a better fit. If it seems like it will be, I will have you fill out an application. If all checks out- you may meet the dog and begin fostering.

You must be willing to take to our vets, which are in NJ & some in PA.

🙏💕🐾Do you know which plants pose a risk to which pets. Here a few.
Highly Toxic Offenders:
👉 Lilies (various species, especially true lilies like Asiatic, Easter, and Tiger lilies): Cats are extremely sensitive to lilies. Even small ingestions can cause severe kidney failure. Dogs are less sensitive, but can still experience vomiting and drooling.
👉Tulips and Hyacinths (especially the bulbs): Toxic to both cats and dogs, causing oral irritation, drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, and even heart problems in large doses.
👉 Sago Palm: Highly poisonous to both cats and dogs. All parts of the plant contain cycasin, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, liver failure, seizures, and even death.
👉 Oleander: Toxic to both cats and dogs. Contains cardiac glycosides that can disrupt heart function, leading to vomiting, diarrhea, heart arrhythmias, and death.
Other Toxic Plants:
👉 Azaleas and Rhododendrons: Toxic to both cats and dogs. Contains grayanotoxins, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, depression, and even coma.
👉 Dieffenbachia (Dumb Cane): Toxic to both cats and dogs. Contains insoluble calcium oxalates, which can cause oral irritation, swelling, drooling, and difficulty swallowing.
👉 Philodendron: Toxic to both cats and dogs. Contains oxalates that can cause oral irritation and digestive upset.
👉 Pothos (Devil's Ivy): Toxic to both cats and dogs. Another common houseplant with oxalates, causing similar symptoms to Philodendron and Dieffenbachia.
Important Notes:
🐾🙏This is not an exhaustive list. Many other plants can be toxic to cats and dogs. 🙏🐾
⁉️The severity of poisoning depends on the amount ingested, the size of the animal, and other factors.
👉 ⁉️If you suspect your pet has ingested any part of a toxic plant, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center immediately.👈⁉️

💕🐶🐾 Valentine's Day can be a fun and romantic holiday, but it's important to keep your dog safe during the festivities.

💕🐶🐾 Here are some tips: 💕🐶🐾

➡️Chocolate: Chocolate is toxic to dogs. Keep all chocolate, including dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate, out of reach.
➡️Lilies and Tulips: These flowers are highly toxic to cats and can also be harmful to dogs. If you receive lilies or tulips, keep them out of reach or consider alternative flowers.
➡️ Candles and Flames: Keep candles and other open flames away from your dog. Dogs can easily knock over candles, causing fires or burns.
➡️ Alcohol: Keep alcoholic beverages out of reach of your dog. Even small amounts of alcohol can be harmful.
➡️ Guest Safety: If you have guests over, supervise interactions between your dog and visitors. Some dogs may feel anxious or territorial around strangers.
➡️ Anxiety: If your dog experiences anxiety during holidays, provide a safe space for them to retreat to. Consider using calming pheromone diffusers or consulting with your veterinarian about anxiety medications.
💕🐶🐾By taking these precautions, you can help ensure a safe and happy Valentine's Day for both you and your furry friend.
