Hooray! I tasted my first black raspberries of the season! Two were a bit early but I have no patience! So good.
When I arrived at Farm X to treat the goat's lice in preparation for their rescue, they were up on the hill, foraging.
When they saw me with a treat bucket they came running towards me. Then the sheep came running to follow to. It started a big Rescue Parade to the area where I could separate and treat the goaties.
Help is still needed! All kinds of resources: a trailer ride, help herding them, help with getting them settled in their new sanctuary at House of Wiggle Goats , and yes, money for vet bills.
This is a hard post. I love joking about being a "crazy goat lady" but I'm 100% serious and sane right now. There is a reason.
TLDR- animal neglect and rescue
**Please don't want the video if you will be upset. It's a real glimpse into animal neglect and hoarding.**
I found out that "Farm X" (where I used to board my horses, fell in love with goats, and bought 5 of my goats) is finally getting rid of their goats. Many were taken to auction. 12 remain and will go to auction if no one steps in. Among those 12 are goats I love and know by name and Daisy Mae's mother and other relatives.
Owner agreed to let me have them at a very low price. I suspect that he's under pressure from the authorities. I was there yesterday and went back today to do some lice treatments.
They are crawling with lice and need further assessment and care. Three are limping. All are too thin. Hooves are badly overgrown.
And this, THIS is the condition of their pen. I assure you, it has not been cleaned since I left in Mar 2022. I'm sorry but the video is gross in more ways than one.
Dottie wants to be petted at every possible opportunity. Or she'll take matters into her own hooves.
