The first two babies are out, and they're stinking cute!
Yup, we weren't planning for any clutches this year, but our Palmetto female, Madam Huff, must have retained s***m from an attempted pairing last year. At least, that's the only explanation we can think of at the moment!
Howdy, all! We've been laying *real* low while we recover (and continue to recover) from big life events. Everything considered, we decided to give all the snakes a break from breeding in 2023, however, we still wound up with a surprise clutch of corn snakes eggs! With the babies starting to pip, any guesses as to what we might have here? 👀
Sorry for the lack of activity here lately. Slowly recovering from a second bout of COVID. 😷 It's taken a while, but I've finally added the rest of Tessa's babies to Morph Market.
Whoo! First-timer Nelly is officially a mom now! We hit great odds with this clutch. So far I've seen a mix of Lavender, Hypoberry, and Stripe!

We've had our hands full keeping hatchlings fed/watered and clean (messy little gremlins)! Today I'm working on getting these babies s*xed. Tessa's hatchlings are so very personable this year, and I can't wait to share them with y'all!

With a possible move in our near future and the times being tough, we're switching gears and downsizing our collection to refocus on our favorite breeding projects. We still plan to provide top-notch hatchlings for years to come--just at a more sustainable scale for us. With that said, keep an eye on our Morph Market for a variety of corns, ranging from juveniles to proven adults.
The first of the Sunkissed Anery clutch has pipped! Some of these eggs are HUGE, and I'm looking forward to seeing if we have any jumbo-sized hatchlings in this bunch!
The het Palmetto babs are absolutely gorgeous! I'm so beyond thrilled to learn that our Palmetto male, Sir Hiss, is het for Anery. 🤩

There she is! Shi Yang the King Rat Snake is feeling bold enough to explore her upgraded enclosure. The stacked cork round definitely seems to be her favorite feature so far.
Possibly our first Reverse Okeetee that we've hatched here! We'll have to see how their borders shape up after a few sheds.
These posts don't do as well, but who cares?! I'm proud of how the King Rat Stack is coming along! Each enclosure is housing one female Elaphe carinata (you'll just have to take my word for it, because they are very shy babies). COVID and a sprained ankle have set back my progress considerably, but one day the reptile room will be a beautiful bioactive jungle. 🌿🐍
Our first pips of 2022! I'm already in love with each and every one of them. 💖 Pairing was Carl Canoodle (Caramel with hets) and Tessa (Okeetee Tessera het Amel).
Christmas in July! Can't wait for Red here to sire more clutches. Just waiting on those grow-ups!

This tiny cutie is looking for a strict pet-only home. They hatched small and with a few minor spinal kinks that do not affect their quality of life, but disqualify them from being a breeding candidate. We've hung onto them for the past year to ensure that they are eating and growing properly. The future owner will be vetted and required to sign a non-breeding contract. I will not be disclosing visual morph or s*x until they're claimed. Please PM if you think you may be a good fit for this little one!

A little cutie that we'll be making available today! She hatched rather small in 2021, and we've held her back for a year to get to know her and make sure that she would thrive in her new home. Now, we're confident in saying that this Opal girl is ready for permanent digs! 💕

Giving my allergies a day off means showcasing our non-corn snakes! Here's Gaia, our female Japanese Rat Snake--one of my favorite species to keep! They're highly inquisitive, almost bird-like the way they process and explore their surroundings.
Happy Friday, all! Today we got to meet one of our neighbor's Solomon Island Skinks (this is one of their yearling females). Getting to interact with this species hands-on is definitely the highlight of my week!
Did you know that juvenile Mexican Black Kingsnakes in the wild typically have patterns like those of desert kingsnakes? Over the years, breeders have been selectively breeding for dark hatchlings to the point where most folks believe (myself included until only last year) that all-black hatchlings are the norm! These little ones will eventually lose their pattern to resemble the striking MBKs we all know and love, but in the meantime, I'm enjoying their cute speckles!
A particularly nice male wall lizard (Podarcis muralis) that just narrowly escaped some hungry pups. Despite their abundance in our area, this is the first time I've managed to see one up close (they are quite shy and excellent at hiding)!
Interestingly, this non-native species was originally introduced to Cincinnati in 1951, after 10-year-old George Rau sneaked several specimens on a plane flying from Italy and released them outside of his Cincinnati home. Despite it competing with our native species, this lizard is so well-established that it's now considered a 'naturalized-species' and is protected as a native species under Ohio law. (Which stinks, because I so wouldn't mind keeping a small colony of these little characters.)
Sometimes I worry I post too often about our Okeetee projects, but then I remember how incredible they look and suddenly don't care. 😁 The male in the first photo is particularly stunning, imo.

Mexican Black Kingsnakes are some of the most dramatic snakes in the hobby and I love them for it. Little Ophelia managed to grab the fuzzy in conjunction with the tongs, and I just had to wait until she figured it out. 😆

Love this super bright gal. Sprinkles was large enough to breed last year, but she wasn't interested in our novel male, Norm, whatsoever. Hopefully she's up for it this season, and we can keep this 'Odd' project moving!

The thanks I get for keeping his home clean. 🙄 Heretic the LTC Gonyosoma jansenii, lovingly referred to as "The Demon" in this household. (He has more clutter, but it's drying after being bleached.) Hopefully we'll get him switched over to a permanent bioactive enclosure pretty soon, so I won't have to keep disturbing him to change out his paper towels.
