Cooper is working on unstable surfaces
Cooper's first trip to the dog beach.
Cooper is just starting to learn about loose leash walking. LLW is often one of the toughest skills for dogs to learn but it is so much more pleasant to go for a walk with a dog that does not pull! Baby steps.
Shaping session today with Cooper's harness. I am working on teaching Cooper to push and demand his harness to be put on. This way we won't have to have a constant struggle with placing his harness on him. Today was his first lesson with this. My goal for now is to have him offer his head into the harness; all I do is hold the harness and reward. Cooper drives this session.
Training happens all the time! Here is a session where Cooper is learning self control in his crate. He must sit and wait when the crate door is opened--no running, jumping or trying to get out of the crate. Exit from the crate will be when cued. Also note that there is no need for yelling, "NO" or any verbal cues. His movement controls my movement. You can see he figures it out fast!
Cooper met his first rat today. Looks like he will have a career in earthdog and barn hunt.
