Please use bags for clothes and textiles and tightly pack boxes of small household goods. Separate books from household goods and media. All items must be clean and in sellable condition.

Here's more about Owen County Friends of Animals, Inc. shelter dog Eva, as she's in pursuit of her Chance at a Changed Life.

Thanks to the amazing folks at Grinning Goat Acres LLC Pet Boarding and Daycare for a fresh-air, safe place for Eva to hang out temporarily and enjoy just being a dog. We're confident this setting will only better Eva on her journey and hopefully diminish leftover shelter anxiety, highlighting every magical quality she possesses.

Pawsitive Change Matters Most was inspired by the experience of a dog hauntingly similar to Eva. Thankfully, Eva hasn’t endured some of the things this dog has, but she has survived more than her share of anxiety and wait to find her forever home.

To support not only the mission of Pawsitive Change, but also to reflect the meaning behind this organization, Eva will be the 1st honorary recipient of the Chance at a Changed Life Shelter Dog Sponsorship Fund.

To help ensure Eva has all she needs in boarding over a return to a shelter environment, we need sponsors like you to give Eva a chance at a changed life. She deserves the best, and linking arms with the Owen County Friends of Animals, Inc., Grinning Goat Acres LLC Pet Boarding and Daycare , Heart and Soul 4 Rescues networking platform, and the volunteers who love Eva as much as all of us, we intend to give it to her.

Please help sponsor Eva and anything not used for her care in boarding will go to the rescue who ends up saving her. If she is adopted instead of rescued, any unused funds will go to the next recipient of the Chance at a Changed Life Shelter Dog Sponsorship Fund.

This morning, Pawsitive Change Matters Most has cats headed to be neutered from the Estill County community. Pawsitive Change is committed to supporting the community assistance programs of our partners while effectively contributing to the number of animals positively impacted throughout the communities ​we serve.

These are our current needs as of Thursday, 3/28/24 at 7:20am:

6 cats on the list for spay or neuter procedures

-- 2 scheduled and still needing a sponsor; 4 waiting for scheduling and 3 out of those 4 also need sponsors.

7 dogs on the list for spay or neuter procedures

-- 3 dogs scheduled, 4 waiting for scheduling; out of the 7, 4 still need sponsors.

Neutered male cats, on average, live 62 percent longer than unneutered male cats.

Spayed female cats live an average of nearly 40 percent longer than unspayed female cats.

Family income is the strongest predictor of whether a pet cat is neutered or spayed.

So excited to start working on an initiative that's been on the drawing board for awhile.

On Monday, March 25, Pawsitive Change Matters Most will start the groundwork on our first round of vaccine vouchers for Estill County pet owners in need.

The goal for Phase 1 is for 50 vaccine vouchers and 20 vouchers for vaccines and a basic vet exam. The details are still in the works but the veterinary partner we're hoping to work with on Phase 1 is the incredible group of people at Woodstock Spay and Neuter Clinic .

Rather than focus heavily on fundraisers involving monetary donations, to align with our mission of reducing the burdens on the communities we serve, we'll be collecting bags of clothing, shoes and soft goods that will be recycled and repurposed.

This not only will help us provide a much needed service to the communities in our target areas, but will also help our volunteers and partners throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana do some spring cleaning while supporting a great cause!

There are so many sad things happening right now in animal welfare and in the world in general, we're excited to embark on bringing hope to the table, if only a little bit at a time.

After all, isn't it about time to give change a chance? 💙

One of the things Pawsitive Change Matters Most is working on right now are grant applications and fundraising plans for the following upcoming projects that have been on the backburner waiting for quite awhile:

-- Free vaccine vouchers for communities in the areas we serve.

-- Increased TNR initiatives and efforts in target areas throughout the communities we serve.

-- Creation and implementation of educational programming partnering with schools, shelters, and rescues throughout the served communities. This will also include opportunities for students to learn various aspects of basic responsible pet care and fitness/enrichment opportunities for shelter dogs and young people to experience active play together.

These are in addition to the ongoing support for spay and neuter assistance for these same communities.

Currently, in Estill County and in the Nicholasville area, there are 7 dogs or cats still in need of sponsorship.
