Collar ban will do more harm than goodโฆ ๐ซ๐ถ
The Palaszczuk Labor Government has announced it is banning pronged dog collars as part of the โbiggest reforms of animal welfare laws in Queensland in more than 20 yearsโ.
In reality the only thing this nonsensical ban will do is remove a very important tool that, when used correctly, can change the lives of dogs and their owners for the better.
A team of knowledgeable and experienced professional dog trainers have put together this video demonstrating the very effective, and safe, use of these collars on pets โ take a watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wfzRl_B6s0
The video showcases dogs (some of which are pictured below) who have been allowed to utilise a prong collar within their training program to improve their quality of life and also that of their handler.
In all cases, a certified trainer has worked alongside dog or their handler to facilitate the education and support required when implementing the prong collar as a training tool.
The results speak for themselves, and thank you to Flossie, Ellie, Fraser, Kevin, Trevor, Butch and Benz for showing us their best behaviour in the video!
While this ban may seem like a non-issue to some, it will have a possibly very serious impact on dogs and their owners who have exhausted all other training and socialisation options.
For this reason, we stand with those who Labor are unnecessarily trying to demonise and will move amendments in the Queensland Parliament that would provide exemptions to the ban for professional dog trainers and those operating under their guidance to assist their pets.
Pets deserve better than to be part of political games!
