Sophie began making horse charms when she was 13. Now at 20, she still has her business while exploring other her other gifts and talents.
My work has been featured in Fort Worth Magazine, 360 West, and Cowboys and Indians. Sophie's Horses Handmade also won one of the six TCU Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards in January. To make the charms Sophie mold the horse out of wax using only her hands... no tools. The wax is sent to a silversmith where using the lost wax method the wax horse is cast into sterling silver. The mold is so exact that you can still see her thumbprints on some of the finished silver pieces.
