In the last couple weeks, many prominent dog trainers in the positive reinforcement space have had their pages hacked and taken over. Leslie McDevitt of Control Unleashed lost her entire FB group to a hacker and had to create a whole new group. Victoria Stilwell has also had her page hacked.

The hackers are posting inflammatory content, demanding money to restore the pages, and more. If you notice something seems off, you might want to check one of the trainers’ other social media outlets to see if there are any announcements. Victoria Stilwell just posted on IG about hers.

Facebook is struggling to stop the hackers, and if you’ve ever dealt with their support, you know it can be virtually impossible to prove your real identity and regain access to your page once it’s been stolen. We all want to learn from these trainers and their content, but if you notice something is off, make sure you ask questions first instead of assuming that the trainer you trust has suddenly changed their methods or started doing something that you KNOW is out of character.

We have a foster pup in the house for the next couple weeks! Little Kilo came to us from Bully Smiles. His adopters live out of state so he is hanging out here until his transport date. He has a few minor behavior struggles that come with being a young pup raised in a shelter but we’re confident we can work through them. 🥰🥰

Looking for something fun for your kids to do this summer?? Join us for our youth handler’s club! We will focus on learning the science behind training, using fun games to teach kids the skills they need to communicate effectively with their dogs (and other pets). We will also discuss proper husbandry and care. If you’ve been on the fence about getting a pet for your kids, this is a great way to introduce them to animal care before you commit!

Just a little sneak peek at what we’re going to be practicing this week in our pop up classes!

Training loose leash walking begins BEFORE you ever take the first step.

Once we have the basics down, there are tons of great games you can play to increase your dog’s enthusiasm and make this a really great bonding experience.

We are back and ready for classes!!
This week we will be working on leash skills. 🦮 Teach your pup the proper way to walk on leash so you don’t get dragged around the neighborhood and you can enjoy more outings.

Message me here, or Call/Text 423-443-2755 to reserve a spot either day. 🙂

Week 3 of only sorta halfway attending classes. 😅

Today went smoother than last week. We got there a little bit earlier. We had time to practice some good pattern games before the first cars and dogs arrived, which meant that Cooper was already more relaxed and focused. We had a couple of minor outbursts of barking, but most of the time, he was fine watching from a distance and checking in with me. A few times we went behind the dumpster or bush to give him a break. A few times he spotted dogs before I did and he calmly checked in with me to let me know they were there. We closed a little bit of the distance today when he showed me he could remain calm without pulling.

Once everyone else was inside, we walked through the field, sniffed a bit, and even made it all the way up to the building. I took some time right outside the door to let him sniff and hear the dogs inside doing their thing. He listened curiously, but didn’t bark.

Then we kept sniffing and went back to relax on a mat for a while. Throughout the class, there were a few people who dipped outside to let their dogs potty, and Cooper always checked in to let me know there was something going on over there.

But most importantly, we protected his confidence, and that’s really what matters most!

A few people were even so intrigued by what we were doing that they came by to chat. I got to sing the praises of Leslie McDevitt’s Control Unleashed program for anxious and overaroused dogs. I hope that by spreading the word, more people will learn to listen when their dogs are worried instead of trying to shut them down.
