Rover is available to book people to care for your dogs and cats on the Apple/Android App store, as well as Rover.com. Rover offers five different services for your pets: Boarding, House Sitting, Drop-In Visits, Doggy Day Care, and Dog Walking. I offer Drop-In Visits and Dog Walking in a 10-mile radius of Rochester.
Drop-In visits are more tuned towards spending time with animals when pet owners are either at work, gone for the day, or away on vacation. Typical blocks of time booked for Drop-Ins are 30 minutes, but there is also a 60-minute premium option available. They include pet care such as feeding, making sure they have water, medicating, and may include a shorter GPS-recorded daily exercise walk for dog(s). I have had clients on extended vacations for two weeks or more where I have provided 2-3 drop-in visits per day depending on their pet's needs. Pet owners that have special needs dogs or senior dogs can specify a walk duration and appropriate pace for their animal.
Dog Walking is geared towards a substantial walk for a dog, with similar care from feeding to medicating dogs provided secondary to the walk. A client has the option of a 30 or 60-minute walk for this option as well.
I have attached photos of a Rover Card in progress that I am completing, as well as a Rover Card you receive when a service is completed (all edited for privacy). A Rover card shows what services were provided to animals(s) during the booking. I will select how many times a dog has peed, pooped, how many times he was fed (dinner or snack/treat), and verify the animal had water before leaving the visit. Most clients request photos of the booking, which for travelling pet parents in particular absolutely love when they're missing their fur-babies! The Rover Card you receive will show details of what happened during a visit.
If you chose Dog Walking, or requested a short dog walk for a Drop-In visit, Rover will show you an approximate map and distance of the route a dog walker took when you receive the completed Rover Card.
A walker also has a Note section to leave a short report of the visit. For me, I mention anything noteworthy from funny or cute parts of a visit, anything medical I might notice (I would mention if a dog had a bout or continued diarrhea, or update a pet owner on a medical condition I am helping managing while they're away on vacation), and any reactive episodes with the pet(s) I am caring for, or other dogs I might come across during a walk. I'll include notes of location/specific animal with a description of the event.
For my customers, I also provide free services upon request: I automatically bring packages inside to ward off porch pirates, will bring mail inside if requested, and even bring your trash/recycling to the curb if you're on vacation or forgot to. I have also been known to add wood/pellets to stoves during visits (including extended visits), as well as change the thermostat settings between day and night for extended care bookings.
If you have any questions about bookings, feel free to comment or message me on Rover! If my schedule does not fit your requested dates or times, there is a great community of Rover providers in the area. If you need a recommendation or suggestions on how to find someone, I will be happy to help!
