Working some impulse control into our game of fetch. Nova loves her ball but can have neurotic tendencies when playing fetch. We structure our fetch to avoid increased arousal/anxiety to have obedience mixed in. We work her brain more than we work her body. She gets tired way faster and is in a better head space when we are done 😌
People watching with Fenny at the park!
I don’t try to redirect his attention from his trigger (a lady walking towards us) I wait and then reward once he engages back with me. I want Fenny to look at things that are making him uncomfortable and I allow him space to process/watch and reward ultimately what I want from him which is to check back in with me! Good job Fenny!
*Note we are a great enough distance from the trigger to allow this process to happen*
*Sped up for viewers enjoyment* practicing loose leash walker around distractions outside the dog park. Hunter gets easily overwhelmed when he sees other dogs and his loose leash manner usually go out the window. We were very proud of him being able to stay focused and unbothered by the dogs running around!
🌼Working on recall with Daisy🌼
We love when owners send us videos of them working on their homework! Really warms our hearts 💕 Sophie’s owners have been putting in the work and it is really showing with Miss Sophie! Keep up the amazing work guys!! 🐾
Working on implied stays around crate manners with Missy. Implied stays can be life changing and super convenient once your dog has them.
This comes down to preference mostly do you want to always say the command to stay or do you want your dog to know that they wait for their release cue before leaving their kennel. Whichever you choose, make sure you’re consistent!
Sage practicing her door manners to begin our walk & train🐾
Working on natural check ins with Miss Daisy 🌼 we want to promote independence and some confidence in her environment all while encouraging and rewarding checking in with us even without verbal recall 🐾
Winston and I on a fun outing to the pet store for his walk & train.
I did not ask much obedience from him maybe a sit or a down here and there. We mostly just walked around and sniffed and worked on remaining neutral in an exciting environment.
Note this outing was only about 10 minutes and we ended on a positive note!
Working on Missy jumping up on different surfaces.
*Sped up for viewers enjoyment* practicing healing with Mr. Fenny outside the dog park for added distraction!
Oreo working around a male stranger and absolutely killing it with her engagement!
Mr. Grizz doing some decompression after our walk & train where we worked on OUTSIDE the dog park.
Grizz can be dog reactive so it was no short feat for him to work with me and engage when there was so many dogs running around the dog park. However, we had been working with Grizz in low stimulation and controlled environments for quite awhile leading up to this. It it’s important to stay within threshold, every time your dog reacts, they practise that behaviour!
It is important to remember to let your dogs decompress on their walks especially after working on reactive training. 🤯😌
Izzy is actually completely deaf and very weary of strangers. We are working on us coming into her space slowly and building Izzy’s confidence with engaging with us. We work on very easy commands and heavily reward any engagement we can get. Working with Izzy has been fun and a learning curve for us as to remember to use hand signals as my commentary is only for myself in this clip 😆
Introducing door manners to Daisy 🌼 how you leave your house for your walk sets the tone of how your entire walk is going to be. We want to calmly wait at the door and exit when released versus being dragged down the stairs and out your door.
*Sped up for viewers enjoyment* practicing loose leash manners as well handler engagement. Ace has a habit of forgetting about his walking partner and getting lost in his environment so we are working on him sitting while I stop and turning when I turn and overall paying more attention to where I am when we walk.
We love to see the excitement around Missy’s recall on her walk & train 💛
Working on position changes 🫧
This usually is an easy warm up exercise for Nova and Melissa but having neglected working these moves these past few weeks definitely showed😅 instead of ignoring the parts she was struggling with, we modified our session plan and went back to the basics until they were nice and clean. You will get what you put into training. Taking the time to put the pieces together will help you in the long run. Even when you really want to do the “cool” or “fun” stuff, the basics is where you will see your results🪴
Winston patiently waiting for his sisters to finish outside when we dropped in for their potty & play while his parents were on a day trip! 😆
Cedar is very engaged when he knows there is treats involved 😆 he did very good walking past some people playing sports.
