Humble Acres Chinchillas/Bluebell Chinchillas Sales Policy

The following policies apply to any sales at Humble Acres Chinchillas/Bluebell Chinchillas after September 15, 2023:

Deposits will not be accepted on any animal until they are weaned at 10 weeks of age. Deposits are non-refundable and are as follows:

$75 for standard grey
$100 for any animal priced between $201 - $400
$200 for any ani

mal priced between $401 - $700
$300 for any animal priced $701+

No animal will leave Humble Acres Chinchillas/Bluebell Chinchillas prior to 12 weeks of age. Payment must be made in-full before the animal leaves our possession or for transport to any show or event location for pickup. Buyers have 30 days from the date of deposit/full payment to arrange transport from our ranch - animals still in our care after 45 days are subject to resale without refund to the original buyer. Deposits can be made via electronic payment service such as Venmo, Square, PayPal, or Zelle. Final purchase can be made via any of the above or cash - absolutely no checks. Unless otherwise arranged in discussions prior to deposit, pickup will be done via appointment at our location in Olean, NY. Appointment dates are subject to change if weather conditions are unfavorable for chinchilla transport (over 80 degrees in the 5 days immediately prior to or on the agreed upon date). Customers are not allowed into our breeding barn to ensure biosecurity and prevent undue stress to our animals. Ground transport is available at buyer expense through Kat’s Pet Transport out of Binghamton, NY. All costs associated with the transport are the buyer’s responsibility. Customers may also choose to transport via a ground shipping service of their choice, but doing so voids all health guarantees. Health Guarantee: All animals are believed to be in good health at the time of sale. Humble Acres Chinchillas/Bluebell Chinchillas will provide a replacement animal to a customer if the following conditions have all been met:
Illness or death occurs within the first 7 days following purchase and can be proven by a veterinarian to have been contracted while in our care;
All care guidelines given to the customer including feeding, caging, handling, and allowing time for decompression have been followed;
Animal was bred by Humble Acres Chinchillas (MHAC on cage card) or Bluebell Chinchillas (SBBC on cage card). Buyers will be provided with a replacement animal of equal or lesser value when one is available. No health guarantee is given for ringworm/fungus. This is a common malady in chinchillas that can remain dormant until the animal is exposed to stress, such as moving to a new home. It is easily treated with Tinactin or sulfur powder in the dust bath. Humble Acres Chinchillas/Bluebell Chinchillas will always take back a chinchilla we sold in the event that the buyer is no longer able to care for them. However, no money will be exchanged and the buyer must make arrangements for transportation of the animal back to our property. Each chinchilla will go home with a sample of food for transition to a new feed, a care guide, and a cage card giving information about the animal’s birthdate and parents. Full pedigrees will not be given. Prices as of September 15, 2023:

Angora - Starting at $1,250 (increasing based on color and fur qualities)

Prices are non-negotiable.Angora carrier animals may be of a higher cost than their non-carrier counterparts.

And a standard girl born yesterday just before I got home out of Moonpie and Steele. ❤️

Beginning June 1, 2024, any meet up away from our location in Olean NY will incur a late fee of $25 for every 15 minutes you are late to our scheduled time. While we understand life happens, our time is important as well. Meeting in a different location is a courtesy and we will discontinue doing so if necessary.

If you are going to be an hour+ late, we reserve the right to cancel the sale without refund of the deposit and leave the meet up location.

Our Story

Breeder of quality chinchillas for pet, show, or breeding.

Founded in 2005, Humble Acres Chinchillas is a member of both the Mutation Chinchilla Breeders Association (MCBA) and the Empress Chinchilla Breeders Cooperative (ECBC). We strive to produce high-quality chinchillas that can compete on the show table, improve the lines of other breeders, and provide years of companionship for a family.

We are a founding member of the ECBC Northern Atlantic Branch, and Dee (our primary owner) is an ECBC judge trainee.

We specialize in standard and ebony chinchillas, but do produce beige, tan, black and brown velvet, white, violet, and angora animals. In addition to chinchillas, we sell Martin’s-brand cages and some supplies.
