As a chinchilla breeder I feel strongly that it is my responsibility to be there to take in any of my babies should they need it at any time in their life. When Jack’s family needed to place him they reached out to me and I, in turn, to all of you. Our friend Don said “we can help!” And so on Sunday Jack made his way back to us.

Jack is without a doubt his parents’ child - he’s opinionated and has an attitude just like his mother did. But I greatly miss his mom and dad, who were an old pair that I just kept together as they aged to keep them from being stressed. I’m happy to have Jack back and will be keeping him here permanently.

These two are a week old but their mom is the most aggressively protective female I own and hasn’t let me take pictures until today! Two little girls born to Erica and Mozzarella (who now lives with our friend in PA).

Please ignore my terrible nails, I’m giving them a break from acrylics 😩🤣

We really have the best chinchilla community - a Humble Acres friend (Don) saw our post about this MHAC-bred boy needing someplace to go and immediately offered to help. He has taken in the chin (Jack) and will be meeting up with me at some point so I can bring him home. I really couldn’t do it without you all! ❤️

Just a reminder that our deposits are non-refundable unless we cancel the sale for some reason on our end. However, we do allow transfer of deposit to another animal or a future animal for an unlimited period of time. :)

One of my previous babies is looking for a new home. He was born in 2021 and is a standard grey. He lives in the Boonville NY area. Please note that we have updated our sales policies for 2024:

The following policies apply to any sales at Humble Acres Chinchillas/Bluebell Chinchillas.

Deposits are non-refundable (can be transferred) and are as follows:
$100 for any animal priced between $200-400
$200 for any animal priced between $401 - $700
$300 for any animal priced $701+

No animal will leave Humble Acres Chinchillas/Bluebell Chinchillas prior to 10 weeks of age. Payment must be made in-full before the animal leaves our possession or for transport to any show or pre-arranged delivery/pickup. Buyers have 30 days from the date of deposit/full payment to arrange transport from our ranch - animals still in our care after 45 days are subject to resale without refund to the original buyer.

Deposits can be made via electronic payment service such as Venmo, Square, PayPal, or Zelle. Final purchase can be made via any of the above or cash - absolutely no checks. Unless otherwise arranged in discussions prior to deposit, pickup will be done via appointment at our location in Olean, NY. Appointment dates are subject to change if weather conditions are unfavorable for chinchilla transport (over 80 degrees in the 5 days immediately prior to or on the agreed upon date).

Customers are not allowed into our breeding barn to ensure biosecurity and prevent undue stress to our animals. Ground transport is available at buyer expense through Kat’s Pet Transport out of Binghamton, NY. All costs associated with the transport are the buyer’s responsibility. Customers may also choose to transport via a ground shipping service of their choice, but doing so voids all health guarantees. No air shipping is available.

Health Guarantee:

All animals are in good health at the time of sale. Humble Acres Chinchillas/Bluebell Chinchillas will provide a replacement animal to a customer only if illness or death occurs within 48 hours of pickup and the animal has been seen by a veterinarian (in the case of illness) with proof provided to Humble Acres/Bluebell Chinchillas. This applies only to animals bred at our facility (MHAC or SBBC animals) - no guarantees apply to rescues or animals bred by another ranch.

Buyers will be provided with a replacement animal of equal or lesser value when one is available. No cash refunds will be given. No health guarantee is given for ringworm/fungus. This is a common malady in chinchillas that can remain dormant until the animal is exposed to stress, such as moving to a new home. It is easily treated with Tinactin or sulfur powder in the dust bath.

Humble Acres Chinchillas/Bluebell Chinchillas will always take back a chinchilla we sold in the event that the buyer is no longer able to care for them. However, no money will be exchanged and the buyer must make arrangements for transportation of the animal back to our property. Each chinchilla will go home with a sample of food for transition to a new feed, a care guide, and a cage card giving information about the animal’s birthdate and parents. Full pedigrees will not be given for pet animals.

Any deviation from the care guidelines recommended in this packet voids all health guarantees.

Our beige female pair and our girl Rue all found homes this week! That leaves us with just Smoe out of the beige rescues looking for a home. I am happy to keep this girl, as she is so sweet, but also happy to find her someplace where she will be the center of attention if that comes along. ❤️

Each row of cages is 48" long x 15" tall x 24" deep, with a wire bottom. Pans slide in underneath which adds height + legs. Wire is 1" x 1/2".
