Posted • I found this sweetheart German Shepard about a week ago at our festival in San Bernardino. She was injured and very scared. She is still very timid and scared but has opened up a little over the week. I feel that she has not been treated very well by how she reacts when you reach to pet her like she’s always in trouble and shies her head away when you try to pet her. I took her to the vet and they seem to think she is about 2 yrs old, she is not chipped, not spayed , no injuries, the vet said she is in good health. She is very gentle and sweet and deserves a good home. I unfortunately cannot keep her which I would love to but with my work schedule it would be tough. If anyone is seriously interested please reach out. She needs a good home.

This is Twig and Bitsie’s mom Fiona. Her owners could not afford to spay her so we are doing it for them. Also getting her vaccinations. She does not need to have any other babies!!! Also her pups are 5 months old now. They too will be getting spayed and neutered next month. If you’d like to donate to help us pay for surgeries and vaccinations we would be so so grateful. This post by another rescue hit home 😭 We also receive hundreds of emails weekly with owner surrender requests, and threats of turning dogs into the shelter if we don’t take them. This is why dogs by the thousands are ending up in shelters, and our animal welfare community is in crisis.

“This is the side of rescuing that people don’t see, and just don’t realize how hard it is for us behind the scenes.
Strap in guys, while I explain.

This is Marcus.

His owner contacted me to ask me to rehome him, because….
‘He barks at other dogs and people when out so needs rehoming ’

Marcus is a 2 year old patterdale x Labrador.

He had been owned by said owner for… 5 weeks.

He’s just settling in, learning his new environment and family, and at only 2 years old he will be rather overwhelmed as well as adjusting to everything new.

Barking is how dogs communicate, and express their fears, and also excitement.

When I asked his owner what training she had been doing with Marcus to help him overcome his possible nervous behaviour, the answer was ‘he’s had none’

I explained I am full at the moment but I will let her know when I had room to fit him in.

2.5 hours later I receive a call from a vet practice.

Marcus had been taken to the vets to be EUTHANIZED.

Put to sleep.
To end his life, because his owner could not be bothered to put any time or training into him.

THANKFULLY, the vets refused and called us.
They spoke to their behaviourist while they were there, and offered the owner sessions to help Marcus- the owner declined.

Killing him was the easy way to end her problem.

So, of course, with fear the owner would then just go to another vet and put him to sleep- I made room.
I don’t have room, but I’m not having it.

Marcus has been with us less than half an hour.
He has sat, taken a treat very gently.
Has met 6 dogs- enjoyed a sniff and his tail hasn’t stopped wagging

He hasn’t barked yet.

Too many people are getting pets without any consideration to the time they need to adjust, and expecting them to be ‘perfect companions’ without actually putting anything into them.

Take some responsibility and invest the time into them, you chose them to be part of your family. Stop destroying them just because you cannot be bothered to help them.
It’s not their fault.

You are safe Marcus, and loved.
You will never be treated so badly again, and that I can promise.”

I love this

Posted • They are not monsters. They are not beasts. They will not eat you while you rest in your sleep. The most misunderstood and discriminated dog worldwide. Hated because of their look and for the mistakes of a few vilified. Pitbull….the name strikes fear where no fear there should be because how can you truly fear what you don’t clearly see.

You see a murderer, you see a myth. You see a headline you see a risk. But what do you really know about this breed that you fear? Or are all of your opinions simply based on the negative thoughts that you hear? There are facts and there are stats we can rattle away but until you’ve known one your opinion won’t sway.

So take a moment we ask to know the breed that you hate. What a shame to have those judgements fully seal their fate. They love and they live committing no crime but because of a “look” they’ve been sentenced to time. Time in the shelter. Time with no hope. A death sentence awaits them in a system that’s broke.

These dogs are no different than each and every other breed and so we take this moment to send out our plea. We plead for their lives. We plead for their peace and lastly we plead for this hate to decrease. The pitbulls we know want one simple thing. A chance for a home and all the love it will bring ❤️

These two are ridiculous!!! I love them and their silliness. When they first arrived they were so scared of everything. But they’ve come around so quickly. They love to run, play, cuddle and eat with all their friends. They’re also great with kids. No more fear. Only living and thriving from now on. They’re also adoptable. ♥️♥️♥️

It’s interesting to me that the rescue community has to do the job that the and should be doing. It took all of us bombarding them with social media attention, phone calls, emails and news media coverage to actually go in and get this human trash. We thought it was over, but the horror just keeps going. They won’t give the rescues their dogs back. Understandably many are very sick and needing to move to heaven but they won’t even let the rescues come and say goodbye or even take them to their own vets to be sure. And now she’s out and has disappeared. This is heart breaking for so many. But rescues are mostly run my women. Don’t mess with momma bears because we are very protective and stand together against evil to protect our babies, human or furry. Hopefully this will all end soon but until then keep fighting. You all rock!!!

If we haven’t met yet, I’m Karla. You rarely see me in my posts since it’s mostly about the dogs. But since I’m trying desperately to save so many more I’m putting my face in here. I started fostering 15 years ago. I simply wanted to adopt a 3rd dog. My husband was wanting a break since our newest pup was finally done chewing up all our stuff. I saw a commercial about fostering for the holidays. We discussed this and agreed it was a good idea. I ran a child day care at the time while also working in a restaurant. We decided mommas and pups would be the best way to go. Little did my husband know he should’ve just let me adopt a third dog 😂😂. Because since then we’ve housed roughly 1500 dogs. All ages, breeds, sizes and issues. We’ve loved them all. Many have broken my heart but there’s always another who needs us and fills it back up again. Even when I know they’re going to also break my heart we still take them. They need us. I pay for all dog food unless they need a special diet and occasionally meds and vet bills. I try to help the rescues as much as I can. I still work in a restaurant btw. Now my family is ready to sell our home and buy a rescue ranch but we need everybody’s help. Please help us purchase “Dare To Dream Rescue Ranch”. I’ll tell you more about the ranch tomorrow. For now just know the dogs need all of us to make this happen. This has always been my dream but now more than ever. We’re going to sell our house and put it towards the dogs and this rescue ranch but we need everybody’s help. We can’t do it alone. So if you’re as sad to see posts every day about the perfect dogs that were killed for space please help us help them. We’re willing to move our whole lives to help them. If everybody shared even just a few $ we can do this!!!!

Today I met this sweet girl and her beautiful pitti. They don't have much so we blessed them. This beautiful pitti now has a bed, food, toys and treats and water. I also bought some things for her mom. She is a very good protector and even tho I brought things for her I was not allowed to come too close. She made that very clear and I respected that. She's doing her job protecting them both. Thanks to donations I was able to make their day a little brighter. ♥️♥️♥️. Nothing makes me happier than helping dogs and their loving people
