Sunday we went straight from the dog show to Orapax Hunting Preserve to have some fun! Love this picture by Eric Kallen Photography of Pepper paying close attention to Neal Kauder (NK9Training)
from the number 1 mud puppy.
Fun fact: Rebel held the number one title before him.
Fox Mtnâs Sweet As Can Bee âHoneyâ attended her first show this past weekend and walked away with Beginner Puppy Sporting Group 2! So proud of this lil pup!

Because I Loved Them First...
I didnât sleep.
When I did it was in a whelping pen
Because I loved them first
I did all the health testing I could
I did pre and post whelping care
Because I loved them first
I miss life events, family gatherings, work, sleep and wouldn't have it any other way
My dogs come first thatâs why all the questions
Because I loved them first
I cried over a still born I did CPR on for 20 min
I worried and cried and prayed over the weak and tiny ones fighting for them
I bottle fed and clean a million linens
Because I loved them first
I was the first to hold them
I was the first to trim their nails
I was first to give them a bath
I gave them confidence and encouragement
Because I loved them first
I will always take them back into my home
Because I loved them first
I worry and have sleepless nights even when they go to your home
Because I loved them first
When you call me with issues
Do not feel as though I do not care because remember
I LOVED THEM FIRST â¤ď¸

And then there was one⌠Fox Mtnâs Holdâen My Benelli⌠âNellâ (previously International) went to her new home today to be a show/field dog.
Just because a dog is AKC registered, doesnât mean it has a good pedigree.
Just because you donât want to compete in dog sports doesnât mean you donât want to buy a dog from lines who have competed. Those letters next to a dogs name for generations prove trainability, intelligence and adaptability, as well as, health testing for the entirety of the dogs lineage. Thereâs a reason military and police departments acquire their working retrievers from hunt test and field trial pedigrees.
Just because someone selling puppies says they are âhealth checked,â doesnât mean they have OFA tested hips and elbows, genetic panels etc. their vets opinion of the health of their dog means nothing when it comes to breeding mentally and physically sound dogs.
Well bred dogs cost more up front, youâre paying for all the time and energy put into the parents, more so than the puppy itself. But, it is typically a âbuy once, cry once,â situation. Well bred dogs typically are more willing to train, have far less mental/behavior issues and will cost you far less for the duration of their life.

Puppies are all crated while I clean their pen in the morning, theyâre not let out until the whining stops. Good puppies
The pups are three weeks old and much more active these days. Almost time to move out of the whelping box
The puppies are growing so big! Out of CH Sigbritâs Sugar And Spice JH CA (OFA Good) and CH Sigbritâs The Last Rebel JH (OFA Good). The dam is a nice wild bird dog and the sire is field pointed. We have some available puppies from this litter so please donât hesitate to contact me if youâd like more information.
