In 2012, Franki was seen being abandoned next to a dumpster at a closed-down bar and grill in a rural southeast Missouri town. She waited there for her people to come back but after a short time, a nearby neighbor who saw her being abandoned took her in and cared for her for several days then called a rescue group after she realized no one was coming back for the young dog. Within just a couple da
ys after being rescued and placed with a foster home, Franki (then being called Crystal, for obvious reasons) went into labor, soon giving birth to three puppies. Probably mastiff-mix pups, they grew quickly, getting so big they had to be weaned about a week early because they were hurting Franki with their enthusiastic nursing. Franki went to her second foster home and the puppies were sent to another rescue to be put up for adoption. At the new foster home, she soon met who was to be her new human. It was a match meant to be, and Franki very quickly adjusted to a life shared with five other rescued dogs. Within about a year after Franki came home, Ripley died, followed by Shasta a couple years later. Most recently, Franki had to say goodbye to pals Sammi and Cookie, who both had undetected cancer and died within two months of each other early in 2017. Life, as we know, goes on. Having a doggie door, a large fenced yard, all the comforts a dog could want, inside and out, Franki has been living the life every dog deserves. She's free to be her silly, happy, goofy, sweet, affectionate and loyal self. She is loved deeply and loves so in return. Please visit often, whenever you need a smile or laugh.
