Chase was adopted just a few days before Christmas. His new family was so excited about him joining their family, and Chase quickly warmed up to his new big (human) brother! Chase has been renamed Purrcy, a name that definitely suits him! His adopter(s) write - "He’s having a blast! Extremely comfortable and very affectionate. Very vocal and a good eater. I’ve never had to portion control a cat before 😅 we are doing three meals a day. He loves to hug (will literally climb you to hug) and tolerates his nails being clipped very well. He also loves to hang out on the side of the shower while you’re in it (just like any other black and white cat I’ve had)."

We wish Purrcy a long and happy life! A thank you to his new family for choosing to adopt through The Feline Connection!

💙💜 Fall Feline Fundraiser 2024 - The 'Spanish Names' cats 💜💙

TW

We haven’t been able to talk about this much, because this situation was very hard on our volunteers. The Feline Connection got a call on a weekend about cats and kittens left without a caretaker for an unknown amount of time. It became clear, however, that they had not been properly cared for, for a very long time. The situation was extremely grim. 💔 🌈

We rescued fourteen cats & kittens, four of whom did not survive. Others had already passed before we were contacted. We were grateful we were able to assist during off-hours and save lives. These three gorgeous girls are from this situation, as are this bonded pair of black beauties. They are all looking for their Forever Families now! Could your home be their place to call their forever?

DONATIONS TODAY MAY BE TAX DEDUCTIBLE FOR 2024!

🧡 Fall Feline Fundraiser 2024 🧡
MEET QUINTON

One of our longtime supporters reached out to The Feline Connection on Thursday (the day after Christmas 2024) about a cat who had suddenly taken a turn for the worse from her neighborhood. We need your financial support to continue to help homeless/abandoned/lost and community cats in need.

"I have had a cat at my house for the past week. The cat is sleeping in a house I have put out. It's a Tupperware container inside a large dog house with insulation and straw. It's in the breezeway with the entrance facing our house.

The cat is very skittish. I have water plugged in so it can drink 24/7. It has a bloody nose and 1/2 an ear missing. I believe it (the ear damage) happened a while ago. Could you trap this kitty and get it some help? At times the breathy looks labored. Asking if there is any way you can help?"

We helped trap the cat immediately, we were very worried about a sick cat in the deep cold weather. It went straight to the vet on Thursday and then to Maria's house. It has a serious URI (Upper Respiratory Infection). Maria was able to pet it the first night, but it is more cautious today. Time will tell if it is friendly, feral or just terrified. We named it Quinton, and we will let you know when we know if it is female or male and how it is doing! We all think it's a male because of the big cheeks!

We can only say "yes" because of the financial support from The Feline Connection Community. Please donate today, we are not even halfway to our goal for 2024!!

More Happy Beginnings! This time for Praying Mantis, who is settling into her new home nicely. Her new parent writes, "Mantis, now Millie, is really coming into her own! She’s out and about in the house and isn’t bothered by the dogs. We’re still working on the other cats - she’s interested but gets scared when the more outgoing one tries to play. She is such a love!"

Are you ready to add a kitty to your multi-animal home? Because we are a foster-based rescue, we can guide you to kitties that are comfortable with four-legged siblings! She has brought so much joy into our house. 💕 Orlando is back to his old self, and now has a buddy to birdwatch with. Thank you for trusting us with the best Christmas present ever."

We have often heard people say they are surprised Ansel Adams hasn't yet been adopted. So, let us give you a little background on him. Ansel was brought to his foster Mom totally unresponsive and near death when he was just a very young kitten. His foster Mom actually didn't believe he would make it. But, she went to work immediately rubbing some magic maple syrup on his gums for quick energy, giving him subQ fluids, and warming him up. He came around more quickly than she anticipated, and he's been healthy ever since!

But as we do with all kittens who come to us without a Mom, we tested him for FIV and FeLV in July, and the FeLV test showed a "faint" positive on the SNAP/ELISA test. Following protocol, we retested him a month later and the "faint" positive was very difficult to see at all. The third test in September was totally negative for both FIV and FeLV.

In early December, a blood test on him called an IFA was sent out to a lab. This detects whether the virus is in the white blood cells. This also came back negative.
So, the bottom line is--the virus is not active or contagious. Although it's likely that it will never reappear, there are no guarantees that it won't. Ansel is a very active, healthy kitten, is very affectionate, and if his foster Mom could, she would keep him herself, as he is so special to her, but she is unable to do so.

He deserves a loving home, perhaps a home with no other cats, or a home with another cat who is vaccinated for FeLV. We are hoping someone will give him a chance.

Lusitano and Friesian are 5-6 months old, and ready to go to their forever homes. Both sisters are quiet, mellow, and cuddly girls. Lusitano is a stunning grey while Friesian is black with a white locket on her chest. Lusitano and Friesian do not have to be adopted together. However, the only thing better than 1 kitten is 2, right? To find out more about one or both of these girls, go to their profiles.

The Feline Connection

The Feline Connection is a non-profit cat rescue operating in the Rutland, Vermont area, as a 501(c)(3) charity. Founded in 2018 by Maria Caron. The Feline Connection is group of volunteers focused on improving the lives of homeless and neglected cats through spay/neuter and release or relocation (TNR), cat community care and management, fostering/socialization, and adoption. We rely completely on donations and volunteers to accomplish these goals.
